I don't have any problem with Berbatov's perceived attitude. It looks like Haynes mark 2 to me and if he was playing well himself I'd be entirely relaxed about that.

Problem is that he isn't and that may be down to the way he's being asked to play or weaknesses of his team mates but at present it simply isn't working.

But even just bringing one or two new faces will have a positive effect on the team. Ala Berbatov

Positive?

It seemed that way initially but now?
Now that's just mean. ;)
Seriously though, it absolutely was. Now, he gets the blame for everything that went wrong with Fulham. I understand, he doesn't perform at 100% all the time, but who is? Especially, with so many average players around him. Frustrating to watch, let alone play with. Let me ask you. Have you ever seen him have a go at Ruiz? Or Riise, or Duff? Or Karagounis? But most of the rest are just an absolute mood killer, depressing to have around at times... My guess is, honeymoon period is over, he woke up in the morning and surprise surprise, she ain't that pretty.

I'd say it's the other way 'round. Everyone on this end has woken up to discover he ain't that pretty. He's a great footballer, no doubt. But he's not the savior everyone thought that he would be.

He works is behind off on the field, but for some reason he's unable to lift the team when the result isn't going our way. And I'm sure that was at least a part of the expectation.

Let me be clear though. I'm not taking a swipe at Berba. I just think expectations of him and of the team with him aren't meeting with reality for some reason.

Fine. He is not lifting the team when performing poorly now. At first he did. And that's my point. Doing this all the time, when most of the rest a piss poor is not what he expected. The motivation is gone. Hope Jol gets a couple of quality players in. He can't carry the team on all the time.

Berbatov has Cantona's knack of being the man amid a stampede towards the door who stops to notice a side exit that nobody else has seen.

What club do you think it is?
---------------------------------------------------

Rubin Kazan remain favourites to snare Yann M'Vila, but Rennes have confirmed a new offer from England has arrived.

General manager Pierre Dreossi admits the club want his situation resolved this weekend, and that an agreement with the Russian club was most likely.

Queens Park Rangers have been in talks, but now Dreossi says a new bid from England has come, and he would only confirm that it was not from Newcastle.
Arsenal, Tottenham, Fulham and Reading have also been linked with moves for the 22-year-old midfielder in recent weeks.

"It is complicated, but we are still in negotiations," said Dreossi.

"It is not agreed yet, there are delays in payment, everything. I hope we will find a solution.

"Also a new offer came in England and that could be interesting but Rubin Kazan is the priority, and we are negotiating.

"I expect the player to tell me he has reached an agreement with the club so we can finish the negotiations."

Dreossi feels QPR are now out of the running, adding: "QPR? I met with them for a long time [on Monday] but I think they will withdraw and I have not heard from them since.

He would not reveal the new bidder from England, saying "The new English club? This is not Newcastle - but no matter, M'Vila will leave and it will be finished before Saturday's game."

Bbc is reporting that southampton are hijacking the coutihno lad from inter milan as they are prepared to pay £10 mil...I do have a few questions.

How are southampton affording this all? (Going by the reports?)
Why would he go there?
Surely we must be going in for someone as the teams around us are getting stronger?

The teams around us are getting stupidly stronger with some very expensive signings. Foreign owners with deep pockets.

To be honest we have one as well! Al Fayeds worth last year was at £1.2 Billion. Before I get shouted, yes I dont agree with stupid spending and Im happy we are in a great way at Fulham as we are run correctly.
However, going back to your point in principle we have a foreign owner with a deep deep pocket!

Fulham needs a midfielder with lion heart and good  ball control .

This one will fill the void .

Likely at AFCON right now.....that's a non-starter.

He'd have to do something with that hair too. The PL already has one Felaini.

I don't think coutinho will be going anywhere. Firstly inter are quoting a high price and the player has no desire to leave. He's publicly stated that he wants to stay as he feels it will be best for him.

Well maybe by borrowing now to survive ...  and paying back with the extra cash from Sky next season.

We could sign someone:

Fulham manager Martin Jol admits Sascha Riether could stay at Craven Cottage beyond this season if he maintains his current form for the club.

Riether has been an ever-present for Fulham in the Premier League this term since joining on loan from Cologne last summer.

His performances for the Cottagers have already prompted former first-choice right-back Stephen Kelly's departure from the club this month for Reading.

Jol has expressed his delight with Riether and has hinted that the twice-capped Germany international could earn a permanent deal at Fulham.

"Sascha Riether has done a great job for us. He's enthusiastic, mobile and aggressive," said Jol.

"I only wanted him on loan because you never know how they'll do.

"If he carries on like this we will make our mind up and try to extend it or buy him."

Ha, if we only extend Riether's loan deal when he has been our best player this season we really are skint...

Sign him up now. No point in waiting. He's been our most consistent player all season; some of the best wingers in the League have been made to look average by Riether.

If he plays to the same level for the rest of the season, another club will come sniffing.

1 word. 4 syllables. Pogrebnyak.

I disagree with the suggestion that we should go ahead and sign Riether now.  According to the announcement that we brought him in last July, we have the option to sign him at the end of the loan.  If we assume that the price has already been agreed upon (which seems to be a safe assumption, otherwise what's the point?), and that the option can be exercised at any point during the loan (otherwise why have the discussion?), then why not wait a few more months?  He's had a great half a season, but who's to say that he won't have a major drop-off in form?  For that matter, and hopefully I don't jinx anything here, what if he breaks his leg in April?  In either case, we'd be better served by waiting.

Pogrebnyak isn't a good comparison because he was out of contract last summer, Riether isn't out of contract until summer 2014.

(And I say this despite being a big fan of Riether and wanting him to sign for Fulham permanently.  Just doesn't make sense to do so now.)

Let's sign him asap. The other teams can start with their new expensive players but with this "guy" in our line up I'm sure we will get the upper hand  :yay:
