Unlike West Brom this, I reckon they're being difficult with transfer to ensure they get a good deal. Always seem to collect a decent fee. Would be pointless and uneconomical to keep Odemwingie at this stage as he's made his position at West Brom pretty much untenable.

But they're not being offered an earth-shattering amount are they? He'll soon pull up his socks once he finds himself still a Baggie in February. Player power and tapping up are the enemies here.

I think it would still be worth it for them just to get him off the wage bill though, probably one of their highest paid players and he's 31 too.

Arsenal have opened formal talks with Barcelona to sign David Villa, claims Goal.com. It says manager Arsene Wenger is a long-time admirer of the 30-year-old and is prepared to pay up to £13.8 million to sign him on a permanent deal and match his £110,000-a-week wages.

Manchester Evening News reporting that Balotelli was pulled from the squad travelling down to London for Citeh's next game, and has flown to Italy.

West Ham have signed Emmanuel Pogatetz on loan for the rest of the season. Considering we were linked maybe we'll see what we have missed out on in the next few months, or be breathing a sigh of relief.

Two very different players. One thing is for sure - Fer will have no problem adjusting to the 'physicality' of the Premier League like Ruiz did. Very big and strong. Brilliant all-round player.

He gets better all the time, if you remember how he was when he first arrived there has been a dramatic transformation since.

I guess you're right. He does put himself about a lot more than he used to. Certainly bulked up in the Summer but yeah, he is still pretty lightweight.

really?....... I mean he's got steadily better but I personally don't believe it's been dramatic, he's still got a long way to go in terms of development.

I have seen him going into tackles and competing for the ball, he couldn't do that when he first arrived. he would always shy away and was only any good when he was in loads of space. he works a lot better now in tight situations partly because he isn't as scared of being thumped. dont get me wrong he is no roy keane but he is adapting and gaining experience all the time.

Burt

Agreed. Since his debut v Blackburn he has come on leaps and bounds. By no means there yet, but much better than when he started out for us.

it's bad enough seeing the likes of everton and newcastle picking up talented young players in positions we need to fill every other day, but when they start picking them up from fc twente, our glorified bloody feeder club, it really takes the ps.
