Romeu joined on loan, from what I read. Why would they sell Banega in that circumstance?

Because they're skinter than skint?  Wouldn't hurt to slap a bid in, especially as he has already been linked away.

Talking of Valencia it looks like Gago is off to Boca Juniors for around 1.5m euros

That would infuriate Marty. He tried getting hold of him in January.

Romeu has joined Valencia, which may mean Banega will be sold?  Or at least, we can hope.

Maybe. But almost certainly not to us :(

FULHAM are 25-1 with Ladbrokes to be the highest spending Premier League team this summer after it was confirmed on Saturday that Mohammad Al Fayed has sold the club to American billionaire Shahid Khan.

Ladbrokes also go 5-4 that the Cottagers break their current transfer record - £11.5m for Steve Marlet - in the current window.

The Cottagers are now11-4 for a top-ten finish this season, 33-1 for a top-six spot and 200-1 to surge into the the top four.

However, Martin Jol's men are also 7-1 for relegation - Ladbrokes are as short as 4-1- and while Jol is 11-1 with Coral to be the next Premier League manager departure, he is as short as 7-1 with Paddy Power.

Ladbrokes go 50-1 that the majority of Premier League clubs are American owned by 2020.

Wayne Rooney is 4-9 with Hills to remain a Manchester United player when the summer transfer window closes on September 3. But the firm make Luis Suarez evens for a switch to Arsenal and 5-4 to move to Real Madrid before staying at Liverpool (9-4) in their betting.

Cannot see us going mad on transfers. We have Jol as manager and he will know what he wants and will have discussed it already. Our new owner no doubt can dig deeper than Al but it will not be silly money. As a club we cannot sustain it and that is the clubs and owners favourite word.
The above IS NOT A LEGAL DOCUMENT. It is an opinion.

We may yet hear the horse talk.

I can stand my own despair but not others hope

Agreed, I do not think we will do mad spendings. I do however see us splashing some cash around. Time will tell but I'll be suprised if we spend over 25m from now to the end of the window.

Exactly. Subject to the form of individual players we have the majority of a squad to fight for a Europa League place or challenge for a cup next season.

There is general agreement that we absolutely need that creative midfielder, we would like a striker to challenge for a place and regularly come off the bench and we could be improved with a new left back.

The really top players will look to go to a Champions League club. We could pay silly money in a fee and wages but would you want such a player who only came to you for the money.

At this point in our development we are still looking more to players with potential who are taking a step up like Dembele and Ruiz (particularly for the CM role) and the occasional experienced star like Berbatov. These are in the £5-15m range which is roughly within our current budget.
