I think I'm being reasonably generous with my predictions, yet this will only get us to 20 points from 23 games.

Let's start off cautiously by being optimistic about 1 game at a time   049:gif

Show me 11 players fighting for each other for 90 minutes on Wednesday - win, lose, or draw - then I'll consider optimism about future games.

I suppose if we had 13 points on Thursday morning & 16 by Saturday night, things would look much much better.

We could push on for the champions league rather than the championship with 2 quickfire wins.

That would make a nice change! And just 2 games away...

I think I can guarantee that we will not have 16 points by saturday night!
but
we could have 16 points by mid afternoon on Sunday and that would surely be a real good feeling.

Dont tell me Villa is on Sky? Certain to lose!

Unfortunately it is. Didn't we beat Stoke when we were on TV last year though? That was a drab game.

I suppose we are doing ok in tv fixtures this year, beat Palace and Stoke. Lost to Southampton Arsenal and Chelsea

Plus, we beat them at home last year.

There's certainly some hope now but I still work on the assumption that we'll get relegated.

We need a top quality coach (tick) but also someone to fire up these players and there's no way of knowing whether Muelensteen can do that.

Plus of course new players in January but that's never easy and the last thing we need are talented misfits or players who need time to acclimatise to English football.

I'd accept being in a good position to have a serious crack at promotion next season. Actually I'd enjoy that.

F(f)CUK

I won't be optimistic until either Hangeland returns to full fitness and organises the defence again, or we have an overhaul of our defence in January.

Before the WHU game I looked at the team and thought that with the players available we had no better options.  After the game I realised that our no better options had better be better otherwise we will not win another game this season. Jol or no Jol.

Will be interesting to see the team sheet on Wednesday.

Bassey the warrior

Well, I feel things will get better. Whether they'll be good enough remains to be seen. I'm looking forward to seeing how it pans out though, there's an element of mystery to this man.
