Count Berbatov

#20
Can't believe how underestimated Rodallega is. He does much more than what he's been given credit for
I think he deserves a proper chance. Tonight it was wrong to sub him
Berbatov has Cantona's knack of being the man amid a stampede towards the door who stops to notice a side exit that nobody else has seen.

Jonathan Northcroft on Berbatov:  "...like a man in silk pyjamas shooting pigeons from a deckchair"

Brede Butter Pudding

He should never have been the one taken off. At least he works for the team, and has a bit more pace than ANY other player on the pitch tonight.

Dempsey, on the other hand, should have been hauled off at half time. I can't remember him doing anything positive with the ball, other than winning a couple of freekicks and playing that one-two with Rodellega in the first half. He was woeful. It's sad and depressing to see such a cult hero come back and look so off the pace and unfit. He's completely lost the flair he once had in abundance and really brings nothing to the team from what I can see. It was sad and embarrassing seeing Hugo, the only recognised striker in the squad, being taken off for two wingers. He deserved better than that.

Remember a certain Paul Parker coming back under Adams. Getting a tanking off Cardiff on a Friday night live on tv, never the same again, and same here with Clint.

At that point it dawned on me that actually Muelensteen hasn't got a clue.

I have it on good authority that he was cheered off. MAybe not by everyone but certainly enough for him to hear. Disgraceful behaviour.

Nor did I, sat behind Rene in the Riverside. Hugo just looked baffled - and hurt - that he was being taken off. And I do think it was a very strange decision.

Hong Kong Fulham fan

Can't blame Hugo last night. No support, nothing.

Still don't understand why at home we are playing with one striker then take him off.....

I was at the game, and Rodallega was NOT cheered off.  There was a bit of cheering when people saw that Dejagah was coming on, because it was clear an injection of pace was needed, but when people saw that our only striker Rodallega was being taken off, the reaction was one of incredulity and anger.

He was definitely cheered off by some. Judging by the response here, not by very many. I heard a cheer on the screen (could be the Dejagah moment). My pal had an argument with a group who were doing it.

As I said in this topic last night, on the radio it sounded clear he was cheered as his name was read out. I am watching it now on SKY+ and there was definately a cheer when his name was read out and another when Dejagah's was called.
Obviously both media depends on the position of the microphones for the volume heard compared to the volume in real time at the ground but I heard them none the less.

And for what it is worth, my SKY+ version says that Dempsey should have been hooked before Rodders

This is where telly is very good. When his name was announced he looked baffled. So the reaction of the crowd, what there was of it, was not the reason he became upset. I am afraid that after supporting Rene I found yesterday so baffling, set of the team and the subs, that I believe Rodders could have done a better job sorting out the team. Disgraceful management.
The above IS NOT A LEGAL DOCUMENT. It is an opinion.

We may yet hear the horse talk.

I can stand my own despair but not others hope

Yeah, i did mean to tag on the end of my post that he looked annoyed and confused with the decision rather than upset at the jeers

David Hamilton's announcement comes after the board is shown and player and crowd already know about the substitution.

Not necessarily so for TV viewers.

There were still two sets of cheers, one for each name. This suggests Hugo's name was cheered off IMO

Regardless there was definitely fans cheering. My friend had an altercation with a few because of it.

Really felt for him tried his best but no service. Think most supporters were baffled with the sub as he took off the only striker. Reminded me of Jol's substitutions

nose

rodders should never have been taken off... he wasn't playing well but who was? His future is vested in fulham and needs a confidence boost, dempsey is off soon so didn't need to be kept on, he was equally awful and then simply ran out of puff as the game and extra tiime wore on, all the more reason for rodders to stay on

and one last thing on the subject, rodders touch was awful but he really had very little service, I felt for him and thought the change was wrong.
