Well, if the club are unable to purchase the players that they rate at LB for whichever reason, then it would make some sense to loan in a player and spend transfer funds elsewhere (CB's).

Where does it say we've met the buy out clause mate? There's a journo on Twitter who covers Belgian football who said just yesterday that he couldn't see him leaving.

Mais «pas vendeur», le club belge n'a pas l'intention de laisser partir son milieu français cet été, d'autant que celui-ci sort d'une saison très aboutie, ce qui lui a valu d'être élu dans l'équipe type du Championnat et meilleur joueur des Rouges par les supporters.

Les pistes françaises écartées
Supervisé à deux reprises par David Moyes en personne, en fin de saison dernière, Trebel pourrait néanmoins se laisser tenter si une offre intéressante lui parvient. Encore plus s'il a la possibilité de disputer la Ligue des champions, en Andalousie par exemple. Une chose est sûre en revanche, il ne reviendra pas en France tout de suite, malgré l'intérêt manifesté par Reims et Lorient. Contacté, son agent a refusé de s'exprimer tant qu'il n'aurait pas rencontré les dirigeants du Standard. Un rendez-vous a d'ores et déjà été fixé début août.

As stated on Monday in our newspaper , relaying the English press, Adrien Trebel (24 years) interested many Fulham (English D2), with which discussions have started. Reportedly, two Spanish clubs (FC Sevilla and Real Sociedad) also contacted the Standard Liege to probe the availability of the former Nantes, under contract until 2018. But " no vendor ", the Belgian club does not intend to let his French midfielder this summer, especially as it comes out of a very successful season, which earned him to be elected in the regular team and best player of the Championship Reds by supporters.

Supervised twice by David Moyes in person late last season, Trebel could still be tempted if a good offer comes to him. Even if he has the chance to play the Champions League, for example in Andalusia. One thing is sure though, it will not return to France immediately, despite the interest shown by Reims and Lorient. When contacted, his agent has declined to comment until he had not met with the leaders of the Standard. A meeting has already been set in early August.

Our defence is still a train wreck - we have no competent LB and serious question marks over all three first team CB's. We also lack a pure defensive midfielder. Lots to be done in the next 3 weeks.

Think we used this same rationale with Rene, Larnell, and Tunni. I'm not saying that Larnell and Tunni are crap or anything like it. But, the point is fighting for promotion and improving the team at every position. How does a 21 yr old with his playing history definitively improve the team? If he's one for the future, then fine. But, if true, I hope we are not planning to count on him this season.

To clarify, I think 'Il n'ya pas que Fulham' translates as 'Not only Fulham'.
The gist is, as said, Seville and Sociadad have been sniffing around as well as Fulham, but Standard don't want to sell him - or, rather, say they don't, which is a bit different.
L'Equipe is a proper, sensible daily sports paper. It's a pity, for all our supposed enthusiasm for sport, that nothing similar would be possible here.

Hahaha yeah - to be a fly on the wall when Patrick Bamford is introduced and welcomed to the team with Ryan Tunnicliffe.

Of course I'd take him, he's a goal scorer - which I believe that we need another of, but I think Chelsea would prefer to see him in the Premier League with Palace also interested, though I'm sure he'll sold within three years like Romelu Lukaku and Kevin De Bruyne.

Patrick Bamford is one of those that you'd love to tempt to your club for first team football - like Everton did with Lukaku.

A talented player, but we're probably not in the mix - I expect to see him on loan at a Premier League team.
