I notice you had the de luxe version. Mine was a 1963 standard model, lacking the go-faster chrome grille, light surrounds and chrome strips....

"Azure Blue" all over. I loved that first car, because it gave me freedom in the true sense....Until it got wrecked one night in May '69 at the top of Hillingdon Hill. The bloke who drove into me was done for driving "without due care and reasonable consideration for other road users".

He got fined 15 quid with a tenner costs. I'm still p****d off with him......

Back in England I drive a 21 year old Ford Escort Elegance. Only just over 60K on the clock and runs like a dream. Only use it for driving to BEX station and back and the occasional shopping trip/recycling run. Will keep that car until it dies (probably last longer than me !!)  :021:
