There's literally no logic to the supposed move. Newcastle need to sell to buy, and Fenerbahce are supposedly trying to loan him. You could say they're doing it because they don't want to strengthen a rival, but it'd be cutting off the nose to spite the face to sacrifice transfer funds in order to do so.

Bakayoko anyone? I'm fairly sure Chelsea would take a loss on him as he had a pretty naff year last season, but I still think there might be a decent player in there in the right system and Chelsea want shot of him, if we could get him playing how he did for Monaco then that would would be some player in our midfield trio.

Also, Mitro would have to agree to that move. Unless one of the big boys comes in with an offer I think he's pretty set on a move back to Jokanovic and Fulham.

Yes he did a great job for us, but was it the player or the type of player? I have no doubt that if we had a player (any other)of his calibre and style of play we would have had the same return. (don't get me wrong I looooooove him and what he did for us)

Is there a similar type of player that we can get for £20/£25M?

With all our eggs in one basket we might come out short otherwise so close to the start of the season

I don't think so. based on the fact Newcastle are openly doing a money in for money out policy confirmed by Rafa, I think giving the 20m from the off would of clinched him. Not ITK on it or anything, just my gut feeling based on the comments from rafa etc.

There'd be alternatives out there, probably for cheaper like Rondon at 16m, but I think Jokanovic wants him in and we know for a fact he suits us so he's the closest thing to a "sure thing". There's always the possibility that we have more money for a Striker than you'd think and we try and go in for another big name like Seri such as Willian Jose or someone along those lines.

Even with someone like Mike Ashley, this is a multi-million pound transaction, not someone selling a used Ford Escort, and you expect a certain level of sophistication
If you ask someone's price, they say £20m, you say done, then they say, oh actually now it's £22m... reallly?
I'm not saying it never happens, you probably get the odd tw@t like Daniel Levy, but people very quickly stop taking those types seriously and declining to do business with them
In this case it sounds like Newcastle have given us a price and stuck to it, and we just look silly by messing around for two months fishing for a 5% discount (if indeed that's what's happened)

I would also expect us to have a back up plan

P.S. Mike Ashley does not do sophistication - he is a market trader who has made a fortune for himself and his shareholders

The only people reporting it are HITC who write some actual garbage anyway. As the point was made by Tabby, Turkish media do write some crap a la Wilshire not so long ago so I'd take it with a pinch of salt. All the journo's who actually know stuff say he's going to Fulham so I think this Fenerbahce thing is a non starter
