Slim Like Gentleman Jim 2011 Championship - Final Results

Admin I will add another email with some more charts for those that participated last year as well and do some comparisons. That will have to wait a little bit, as I just wanted to get the final results out.

Commentary - I will get back with full commentary, but I just wanted to apologize for being late because of a pair of slippers, a stepladder and a very heavy box (that despite FoF folklore did not contain a collection of sticky magazines of dubious nature). Just want to congratulate Airfix with a totally amazing run and results. He broke the Slim Jim world record in both categories and although I did not manage to secure the Fulham prizes I wanted (thank you FX Pro for nothing) maybe next year I can get them to pony up something.

COYW!!!

Airfix

Thanks finn for posting the results, I never believed that you were trying to put mucky mags up in the loft - everyone knows that yours are under a loose floorboard in the spare room!

Thank you too for your sterling efforts in corralling this random rabble into some semblance of order.  The total loss of 182 pounds means that we almost lost TraversBarney (though I still prefer to say that we managed to lose Odious Dogbreath, or Fat Lumplard with enough weight of soil to bury him completely!).

:dft004: :dft004: :dft004: I'd like to thank my dietician, my mother and father, my wife, sister and all the family, :dft004: my friends who never doubted me for a second (yeah, right!), my pet rock,  :dft004: my stuffed Monkey toy, Flat Eric,  :dft004: the Queen, Emergency Bitter, Mrs Jenkins from number 42,  :dft004: everyone who knows me and the panel for making this marvellous voting decision :dft004: :dft004: :dft004:

For the record, I am now 196 pounds and falling.  I aim to get to 182, where I will stop.  At the very latest, I shall move on to the next phase of the diet on May 1st as I really don't want to be still on this phase when I go out to the US on holiday.  If I make it there, I shall have lost a grand total of 75 pounds (5 stone 5 pounds or 34 kilos) which represents nearly 30% of my old bodyweight.  And, according to the BMI index, I shall STILL be "overweight"!!

I'll keep you posted.

Congrats to Mr. Airfix for winning the competition. I think we all should chip in to buy him some food, as he apparently has been starving himself in the last couple of months. Given his irregular activities on this board I am wondering whether Airifx isn't poverty-struck as of late.
Let's present the facts:
1) he hardly ate;
2) he hardly contributed to this forum (access only to the internet via the library?)

Surely this implies he cannot afford food or a subscription to internet?

In any case: thanks Mister Finn for doing the bookkeeping. My diet has been less than a success but I can comfort myself in the fact that I needed not lose weight. I am fine the way I am, but I stayed clear of biscuits and other instant fatmakers in the last couple of months. Let the crunching begin!
No forum is complete without a silly Belgian participating!

FFCSteve

Well done Mr Airfix! Keep up the good work.

Just noticed you didn't take part yourself Finn! Must be the perfect weight eh?

COYW!!! Bring back Rene! But I do like Slav!

The Equalizer

Congrats Airfix! You really are a shadow of your former self. In fact, you're virtually 2 dimensional these days.

Fortunately, in these days of modern technology, there are 3D cameras so that even in your 2 dimensional form we can still enjoy photos of you online in full 3D.

"We won't look back on this season with regret, but with pride. Because we won what many teams fail to win in a lifetime – an unprecedented degree of respect and support that saw British football fans unite and cheer on Fulham with heart." Mohammed Al Fayed, May 2010

I didn't participate last year either Mr FFCSteve.

I think sometimes it is important to have an independent ref in competitions like this. For me personally, weight wise, I have improved significantly due to a health scare 2 years ago and I have shed 60 pounds since. I am now only about 170 +/- which is a big difference from being a tank at 230 who didn't give a poo. It was either that or an early bath for me. Sometimes that is what it takes to wake up.

And if I can help any good Fulham fans to drop a few pounds each year, then I am a very happy man

I want to chime in with a big thanks to Finn as well for doing all the work to keep this going. Well done Sir!

I also want to congratulate Mr. Airfix, amazing results and truly inspiring.

Dugliss

Well done to Airfix, will we ever see his record beaten? Maybe we could buy a stapler to secure all that loose skin he must have flapping around.
Thanks to Finnster again this year for all the hard work, shame I didn`t put in quite so much effort myself

Holly cow mate! That is some serious weight loss. Well done to you!
Oh & thanks for your hard work running this not so impressive diet. (Except Airfix of course!)
Hope your feeling better now, after your accident?

FC Silver Fox

At the outset of this competition, I offered a FoF bumper sticker to the winner of :

1. The best excuse given for not achieving their target or generally under-achieving.
2. The best use of a football cliché in this competition.

Over and above Finnster's sterling work running this competition which, in itself, warrants a FoF bumper sticker, it seems to me that he wins the the 'best use of football cliché' quote for a number of his posts.  I can't see any valid candidates for the 'under-achievement excuse' award but I'm open to suggestions from the last 17 pages.

Any objections or other candidate recommendations, bearing in mind its too late to slap in a potential award winning post now ?
Finn and Corked Hat, you are forever part of the family.

I have two recommendations:

1) Our Welsh Wizard Owen (OS what ever number he uses)for managing to put on weight in a slimming competition and then followed by trying to boil his body away (although I do think that was after the slimming period closed)

2) The second nominee is Nick the Swede who informed me that he had moved apartments and his scales were lost in a box somewhere so he couldn't weigh in...

If you wake up in the morning and nothing hurts, you are most likely dead

FC Silver Fox

Splendid recommendations. I'll see if I can rustle up a 3rd sticker.  If you 3 gentlemen would like to PM me your name and address, I'll pop a FoF sticker in the post to you, hoping that OS hasn't boiled dry.

Down to 217 now,and has the weather hots up i will lose loads  :028: How's everyone else getting on now?

Airfix

Was 203lbs (92 kilos) on the 1st March, now 191 (86.5 kilos).  Aiming for 182 (82.5 kilos) by the end of April, if I can.  Whatever I weigh on 30th April, that is where I finish it and move on to stage 3.

Total loss so far 66lbs (4st 10lbs) or 30 kilos.

Have to agree with that.

I bet you feel pretty good right now Mr Airfix? That is an amazing feat. Took me well over two years to shed my excess, but as a result I literally can feel my life expectancy took a major turn for the better (and so says my doctor)  :045:

Thanks guys, I can't pretend that it hasn't been hard, there is much that I miss.  Mrs Airfix has promised me her special hot coronation chicken for my first celebration meal (I can almost taste it already) so there is something to look forward to!

I do feel better about myself but less in a "healthy" way and more in a mental state.  It is wonderful to look at clothes and know that there will be a size in the shop to fit me.  I have lost 6-7 inches off my waist and am having fun re-creating my wardrobe.  Had a clear-out of clothes that don't fit me any more and they are currently in the spare room awaiting selling on eBay - gotta make some money to buy the new clothes somehow.

Yesterday I was in shorts and a t-shirt.  When Mrs Airfix saw me she commented that I looked mighty fine.  Can't argue with that, can I?
