Odoi in Champions League

Seeing the Anguissa threads, I thought I would point out another former Fulham player that played in the Champions League today.

After leaving Fulham last January Odoi quickly found a new role as a defensive midfielder for Club Brugge. His arrival coincided with an uptick in form for the club, which eventually saw them crowned as Belgian champions.

This takes us to tonight, when Denis found himself back in the familiar right back position in the Champions League against Bayer Leverkusen. Club Brugge kept a clean sheet and won 1-0. Odoi played the full game.

On a side note, Odoi debuted for Ghana last year at nearly 34 years old and around a decade after earning his only cap for Belgium. Since Ghana qualified for the World Cup chances are good that we will see the great Denis Odoi appear on the biggest stage of them all.

Maybe this gives some comfort to those that like me feel that Odoi disappeared from Fulham all too sudden.

Someone once asked me, "Why Fulham?".
My response, "Well, lad, you just haven't seen the light yet"

I had not noticed this, really appreciated that updated, brought a nice warm feeling.

Feel his time came to an end quickly but also maybe a blessing, he was fast becoming the scapegoat for the club, and he was a loose cannon. But you could always rely he'd try his best, through thick and thin odoi was always odoi. For that he'll always have a special place in my heart.

He also previously played for I think lokeran, in one of the only European games played at hull, stopping hull qualifying for the europa league.

I was at that game with my dad

Joe Bryan might be playing in the Europa League tomorrow night. I hope so. Top lads.

Well done Denis. Now come on Joe

I am delighted to see Dennis playing out of his skin and wish he would have stayed to cover the right flank.

Denis played the full 90 minutes as a full back yesterday as they beat Porto 4-0 away to record their second straight win in the CL.

Fabio and Sessegnon had to spend their respective games watching from the bench as Liverpool and Spurs both experienced late goals but in different ways.

It sounds as if we may have a left back problem against Forrest, both Odoi and Bryan would have solved that problem.

Both put in some very memorable performances for us, but they were in the Championship. Both have played for us in the Prem in previous seasons. Both were way out of their depth.

Joe Bryan would not solve the problem!

I had wondered whether or not Denis could still have done a job for us - good luck to him, anyway, so glad he is doing well.

Good luck to Joe, too.

It was interesting that both TC and Mitro referred to his goal in the play off semi as one of their top moments and talked about his 'Karate' kick in the final with fondness, no doubt he was loved by his team mates as well as the fans

if only Anguissa had 25% of his attitude,
personally i felt we should of kept Dennis around, he'd of done a much better job of being a makeshift left back in that last game, also knew tim well and coulda filled in at center and right back
