Can Fulham cause another big six upset?

Jack Stroudley previews our upcoming fixture away at Manchester City.

It's easy to forget that we've got a game this weekend amongst all of this transfer madness, but on Saturday Fulham head to Manchester City for the final game before the international break. The contrast in mood from around a week ago is a lot more positive following a point at Arsenal and a Carabao Cup win against Tottenham but Manchester City are a different kettle of fish and will be extremely tough, so can Fulham head into the break with another shock result?

The opposition
Playing Manchester City is tough enough, but a Manchester City side who have had more rest than you is even tougher! As we all know their squad is absolutely stacked in every position, they've lost Cole Palmer in recent days to Chelsea but it still looks a mammoth task. The loss of Ilkay Gundogan in the summer can't be overlooked and while Mateo Kovacic has come in, he offers a different threat to the German in a midfield that maybe isn't as well drilled as last season?

They've won three from three with results against Burnley, Newcastle and Sheffield United. An interesting thing to note is that Sheffield Untied (albeit not at the Etihad) ran the treble winners awfully close in a game where (despite scoring) Haaland had a bit of an off game giving the Blades the chance to level late on. They capitalised and scored but the ever-present Rodri put City back ahead in the final minutes of the game to stop a scare.

How do we prepare?
It's going to be yet another monstrous task for Fulham to get anything this weekend, nevertheless this is how I'd line-up.

Unchanged from the Arsenal line-up but there are a few things to address. The first of those is a certain Portuguese midfielder. At the time of writing he is still a Fulham player and I'm going to stick with blind faith and say he will still be one by the end of the transfer window. If he isn't then please don't try and contact me for 5-7 business days.

I've got Bassey in there as red card aside, I thought he was magnificent on Saturday with some really essential challenges and overall good positioning. That being said, I've got a sneaky suspicion that Silva will go with Ream instead after a solid performance against Tottenham in midweek. Elsewhere I think the remainder of the side picks itself.

The final verdict
If you'd offered me four points going into the break, I'd have taken it and the results in the past week will have sparked confidence in the Fulham camp to end this round of fixtures on a high. We ran City close on two occasions last season and while I want to be confident, I just can't back us away at the current treble winners. As long as we don't disgrace ourselves, I think we can go into the international break with our heads held high but alas I'm going with a City win.

Fulham back in the chase for £8m winger who just can't manage to complete a transfer
At the start of the summer, Callum Hudson-Odoi's future looked pretty simple to sort out. He was happy to leave, the club wanted to sell, and with just one year left on his deal, the transfer fee was going to be pretty small.

But in the end, there have been a few twists and turns along the way.

Fulham were in for him strongly, and we basically considered the whole thing wrapped up. But after long talks, the Whites couldn't agree a fee, and the deal fell apart.

Next came Nottingham Forest. The last week has seem them inching closer to buying the winger, but they haven't managed to get it over the line.

Now Nizaar Kinsella is reporting that Fulham have decided to re-enter the fray. Chelsea have been holding out for £8m – not a lot for a player of CHO's quality, no matter his contract situation, and this perhaps indicates that they've decided to just pay up and let the player decide.

Team News: Saša Out, Cairney A Doubt
Friday will see a number of players being assessed ahead of our trip to Manchester City at the weekend.

Tom Cairney picked up a knock against Tottenham Hotspur in midweek, a fixture which was missed entirely by Willian and Saša Lukić.

"Willian is getting better," Silva revealed. "Saša Lukic is going to be out again. He wasn't involved in the last game against Tottenham, he's going to miss City – let's see if after the international break he is going to be back again.

"Tom Cairney's a doubt for the match, too. He came out [of the Spurs game] with a knee injury, let's see how he's going to be, it doesn't look really serious but we have to assess him tomorrow.

"And we have to assess all the other players that played – some knocks, nothing really serious, but we have to assess them tomorrow to take decisions."

The squad will, though, be boosted by the return of Calvin Bassey from suspension, while Silva himself will be back on the touchline having served his one game ban.

Report: Fulham's Targeted Midfield Solution
In the fast-paced world of football transfers, Fulham are making strategic moves to secure a replacement for their coveted midfielder Joao Palhinha, who might be lured away by Bayern Munich's interest. As the transfer window's final 48 hours tick away, the spotlight is on the potential acquisition of Monaco's Youssouf Fofana, a player also on Nottingham Forest's radar. This unexpected twist adds an intriguing layer to the transfer saga, one that could reshape Fulham's midfield dynamics.

Fulham's Tactical Shuffle: Fofana Emerges as a Frontrunner
Fulham's transfer strategy is taking a sharp turn, with the club preparing to seize the initiative in the ongoing transfer tussle. While Nottingham Forest had been in talks with Monaco's midfield talent Youssouf Fofana, Fulham have swiftly emerged as a contender to steal the spotlight. Sources close to the situation have disclosed to Football Insider that Fulham are diligently crafting a shortlist of potential signings, positioning themselves for the possibility of Palhinha's departure.

Palhinha's Departure Looms: Bayern Munich's Pursuit
The allure of Bayern Munich's interest in Joao Palhinha is casting a shadow over Fulham's midfield stability. Recent reports from Football Insider indicate that Bayern Munich are intensifying their efforts to secure Palhinha's signature. This move is poised to test Fulham's resolve as they strive to retain their prized asset. The transfer window's closing, slated for Friday, adds urgency to the negotiations, putting both Fulham and Palhinha at a crucial crossroads.

Tuchel's Masterstroke: The Pursuit of Defensive Reinforcement
Thomas Tuchel, renowned for his tactical acumen, has pinpointed Joao Palhinha as the linchpin to bolstering his midfield unit's defensive prowess. With the intention to fortify Chelsea's ranks, Tuchel has prioritised the 28-year-old Portuguese midfielder's acquisition. As the transfer saga unfolds, Tuchel's pursuit underscores Palhinha's stature as a sought-after commodity in the football market.

Fofana: A Serendipitous Solution for Fulham?
While Fulham are reluctant to relinquish Palhinha, they are already contemplating the next move on the chessboard. Enter Youssouf Fofana, the enigmatic 24-year-old French midfielder from Monaco. His contract, extending until 2024 with an optional additional year, lends stability to any potential negotiation. Having plied his trade in Ligue 1 since 2020, Fofana boasts an impressive track record with 143 appearances, contributing three goals and eleven assists—a tantalising blend of defensive prowess and creative flair.

Fulham's Encouraging Start to 2023-24 Season
As the transfer intricacies unfurl, Fulham has kicked off the 2023-24 campaign on a promising note. Their resilience shone through as they secured a valuable point against last season's runners-up Arsenal on August 26. Adding to their early triumphs, Fulham demonstrated their mettle by triumphing over Tottenham in the Carabao Cup on August 29. These successes underscore Fulham's determination to stay competitive on multiple fronts, regardless of the transfer turmoil.

A Transfer Saga with Global Implications
As the transfer window's sands continue to shift, Fulham's bid to secure Youssouf Fofana takes center stage. The intricate dance of negotiations and strategic manoeuvres unfolds against the backdrop of Bayern Munich's relentless pursuit of Joao Palhinha. The football landscape is witnessing the convergence of aspirations, tactics, and player dynamics, with Fulham positioning themselves at the heart of this captivating narrative. Amidst uncertainty, one thing remains clear: the beautiful game's magnetic pull continues to captivate fans and stakeholders alike.

Fulham 'closing in' on £20m deal for key Everton player as Dyche scrambles to bring in new winger
Reports suggest that Everton star Alex Iwobi is increasingly likely to join Fulham on a permanent deal, with a fee in the region of £20m being discussed.

Fulham boss Marco Silva worked with the 27-year-old during his time at Goodison Park and is keen on a reunion with the versatile player.

Iwobi signed for Everton from Arsenal in 2019 for a fee of £35m (including add-ons.) Originally, he was used as a winger but Frank Lampard opted to use him in midfield, where his impact has been far greater.

Last season, Iwobi featured in all of Everton's Premier League matches, scoring two goals and making seven assists in the process. Statistically, he is the Toffees' biggest creator of chances, so he will be a big loss for Sean Dyche.

However, the Nigeria international has left than 12 months remaining on his current contract and is thought to be keen on returning to London.

In a recent interview, Dyche admitted that several of his players might leave before the deadline, including Iwobi.

"There's a few circlings around a few of our players, but there's no agreements yet." He revealed.

"The club have to look at the business side with a year left on [Iwobi's] deal, money is not free flowing so it has to be looked at."

Fulham on the verge of Iwobi deal
According to the Daily Mail, Fulham are 'closing in' on sealing a deal for Iwobi. The report states that the fee will be £20m, and that the Everton star is happy to make the switch. They claim that talks progressed on Wednesday night over a fee which will involve further add-ons.

Sources close to Everton suggest, however, that the fee is closer to £15m, rather than £20m. Either way, this is a decent return for a player with his contract set to expire at the end of the season.

Demarai Gray is also thought to be close to leaving the Merseyside club, with several Saudi clubs interested in signing him.

Dyche will be looking to invest the funds generated from the potential sales in new players, and the manager would like to bring in another winger.

Several names are being discussed at the moment. It has been suggested that Everton could make another bid for long-term target Wilfried Gnonto, while another Leeds player, Luis Sinisterra, is also on their shortlist. Southampton's Kamaldeen Sulemana is another player who has been linked with the Toffees, as well as West Ham's Maxwel Cornet.

With that in mind, it looks like Everton are in for a very busy end to the transfer window.

Fulham make 33-year-old a 'priority' after rejecting first offer for player – Silva's side scrambling for replacement
As the negotiations between Bayern Munich and Fulham for the transfer of João Palhinha carry on with full force, the German media is bringing very interesting updates about it.

The latest information comes from Sport1 journalist Patrick Berger. On Twitter, he claims that a £47m offer was turned down by Marco Silva's side.

Fulham reportedly want at least £60m, so Bayern must improve their efforts a little. What the Bundesliga giants have on their side is that Palhinha himself wants the move.

Berger highlights that the negotiations are 'ongoing', with the German club not giving up yet.

Over in London, it seems Fulham know they may lose Palhinha, because according to a fresh report from Foot Mercato journalist Santi Aouna, the Whites are lining up a potential replacement.

It's claimed that the London side are eyeing Yann M'Vila, who's a free agent, having 'checked' his name and have made him a 'priority'.

There's no information on how advanced this pursuit is, with Aouna just highlighting that the player is also a target for Olympique Marseille as well.
However, that attempt completely depends on how the talks with Bayern for Palhinha will go, who himself, according to another tweet from Aouna, firmly believes he will be moving to Germany and has already told his Fulham teammates as much.

Wolves keen on Reed but Fulham want him to sign new deal
Wolves are interested in Fulham midfielder Harrison Reed, who has been offered a new contract at Craven Cottage.

The Midlands club, which recently sold striker Raul Jimenez to Fulham, have made enquiries about Reed on the eve of Friday's transfer deadline.

But Fulham want him to sign a new deal – his current contract expires next year and includes the option of a further year.

Reed, 28, has been a key player in helping the Whites reach the Premier League and then impress in their first season back in the top flight.

However, with Joao Palhinha being subject of a bid from Bayern Munich and Sasa Lucic injured for Saturday's trip to Manchester City, Whites boss Marco Silva said he cannot afford to lose the former Southampton man.

"From last season we have been in contact with him about a new contract," said Fulham boss Marco Silva.

"That shows how important a player he is to us.

"The numbers in our squad are so short and so many are important to us, we don't want to lose players right now."

He has started three of Fulham's four matches this term.

Fulham turn down Bayern £47m bid for Palhinha
Fulham have rejected a £47m offer from Bayern Munich for their defensive midfielder Joao Palhinha.

The German giants are seeking a new holding midfielder in the final hours of the transfer window and Thomas Tuchel has reportedly placed the Portuguese international at the top of his target list. Fulham have insisted that the 28 year-old, who had a sensational first season in England as the Whites finished tenth on their return to the top flight, is not for sale and head coach Marco Silva dismissed rumours that the midfielder had missed training this morning.

Silva has already lost star striker Aleksandar Mitrovic earlier in this window and Fulham are said to be sticking to a valuation of more than £80m that scuppered West Ham United's interest in the former Sporting Lisbon man earlier this summer. The Londoners feel they are in a strong position, with Palhinha under contract at Craven Cottage until at least 2027 and enjoying working under the coach who nurtured his talent as a young player at Sporting.

Everton accept Fulham's N21.6b bid for Iwobi, Hale End product offered 5-year
Allnigeriasoccer.com understands that the transfer of Arsenal's Hale End Academy product Alex Iwobi to Fulham is imminent.

Fulham and Everton have reached a club-to-club agreement for the transfer of the Nigeria international, who is now discussing personal terms with the Cottagers ahead of his trip to London.

Iwobi is keen on moving to Craven Cottage, hence, the player agreeing personal terms should not be an issue.

The Toffees have agreed to end their association with the former Arsenal winger a year before the expiration of his contract in exchange for 22 million pounds (approximately N21.6 billion in Nigerian currency).

Fulham have offered Iwobi a five-year contract that will keep him in the English capital until June 30, 2028.

The 27-year-old was the most expensive Nigerian player sold when he joined Everton for a fee of £35m in 2019 before the transfer record was broken by Victor Osimhen following the striker's move to Napoli the following season.

Iwobi has been a key player at Everton over the last few seasons but the Goodison Park outfit have decided to trade the versatile midfielder rather than lose him for nothing next summer after failing to make any headway in contract talks that dragged on for months.

In 140 appearances for Everton, he scored nine goals and registered sixteen assists.

Pre-Man City Press Conference
A trip to Manchester City on Saturday brings the curtain down on an intense eight days of football for Fulham.

Having followed up a draw at Arsenal with a penalty shootout victory over Tottenham Hotspur, Silva now wants to see his side embrace our final test ahead of the international break, at the Etihad.

"When you have a week with Arsenal, Tottenham in the middle, and after you go to play against City, and these two Premier League games are both away from home, you know what that represents for us," he stated. "But we want to go and embrace the challenge.

"It will be tough against a team who have been commanding the last few seasons, the best team in the Premier League, and of course it will be a tough one for us.

"The way they started the season, even in tough games, the way they have been winning, even some games where they don't perform at their best level, they have been getting results.

"They are really strong again, they will be really tough for us, but our players, and we as a club, we like this type of challenge and we are going there to embrace it."

City needed a stoppage time Erling Haaland penalty to defeat the Whites in this fixture last season, and Silva insists we'll be heading to Manchester in a positive frame of mind again.

"We are a confident group of players, and we can show that on the pitch," he explained. "We know what we are going to face, everyone has no doubts of their quality.

"They have been showing the way they have been competitive from the beginning of the season again. They had some injuries as well, but even so they are a top, top level side. But of course we are confident that we can embrace the challenge.

"The most important thing for us is we have to enjoy this type of game. The only way to enjoy is by working hard because they are going to obligate us to do it, but at the same time we are confident that we can do it, we can embrace it, and we go there with the same approach that we did last season.

"In some moments of the game they are going to obligate us to do things that we don't like, they are going to take the ball from ourselves, like they do against all the teams in the world, the same situation.

"And, of course, we have to show the organisation that normally we do against this type of side, but at the same time we have to be ambitious as well, when we have the ball to try to punish them and to create dangerous moments around their box."

Fulham boss Silva braced for possible Palhinha exit
Marco Silva has indicated he is unsure if Joao Palhinha will be a Fulham player when his side face Manchester City on Saturday.

Palhinha is wanted by Bayern Munich after just over a year at Craven Cottage in which he has developed into one of the best central midfielders in the Premier League.

The 28-year-old trained with the Fulham squad on Thursday but with the transfer window closing at 11pm on Friday, it remains to be seen whether the club can fend off Bayern's interest.

"As you know there has been interest from other clubs for Joao," Whites boss Silva said.

"I will not make any comments about the situation of Joao as there is nothing new to say.

"But of course, it's the business part of the club. The people who are taking care of that are doing their job. I'm doing my job as well to work for the club, but anything can happen in the next few hours.

"Probably it's the first time this club is receiving so many offers, and big offers for some players.

"That means people are looking at what we did. I think it is a consequence of what we did and how we developed some players at this club.

"Now it's up us to decide, from a financial point of view to take decisions and of course from a technical point of for me to decide, if I receive the okay from the club."

Fulham have been looking at potential replacements for Palhinha and do not want to let him go unless they can bring someone else in.

Silva added: "We are talking about so many details, the timing, all that stuff – there are many things involved.

"It doesn't make sense for us to lose a player like Joao, but of course we should have a replacement to come and help us.

"It's the last few days of the market and in some positions it's really difficult to replace people.

"I am doing my job and that is to put names forward and give solutions if any player is sold from our squad."

Fulham: Journalist shares Malang Sarr transfer update
The Frenchman could leave before deadline day.

Fulham are attempting a late push to sign Chelsea defender Malang Sarr as journalist Santi Aouna shares what he knows on social media.

Who will Fulham sign?
The Whites are believed to be advancing in talks to sign midfielder Alex Iwobi from Everton, coming after Marco Silva's side also completed deals for Raul Jimenez, Adama Traore, Calvin Bassey and, most recently, defender

Timothy Castagne from Leicester City.

Fulham secured a solid mid-table finish last term, finishing above west London rivals Chelsea while comfortably swerving relegation back down to the Championship.

So far this term, Silva has overseen a mixed bag of results, but the last week has proved particularly fruitful. Indeed, Fulham managed to save a last gasp 2-2 draw from their trip to title contenders Arsenal, courtesy of a dramatic 87th minute equaliser from Joao Palhinha.

They also knocked high-flying Tottenham out of the Carabao Cup second round on penalties, showcasing the fact there is plenty to work with ahead of a long campaign.

However, they may also need to strengthen further, especially considering the likes of defender Tosin Adarabioyo and star man Palhinha have been linked with late window exits.

Talks are apparently going forward to sign Iwobi from Everton, as previoiusly mentioned, while Silva is also keen to add a striker to his ranks following the departure of Aleksandar Mitrovic to Saudi side Al-Hilal.

Adarabioyo's possible departure would free up space for another centre-back too, leading to their apparent interest in signing Sarr from Chelsea.

The 24-year-old, who spent last season on loan at Ligue 1 side AS Monaco, could very well depart Stamford Bridge before the 11pm cut off on Friday night.

Sarr could be a "big opportunity" for many clubs this late in the window, according to Foot Mercato reporter Aouna, who has shared an update on X.

Indeed, the journalist claims both Fulham and Nottingham Forest are "pushing" to sign the Frenchman, and to add further incentive for Silva, Sarr could end up leaving for free.

"EXCL: Nottingham Forest and Fulham are pushing for Chelsea center-back Malang Sarr," wrote Aouna.

"Other clubs are also interested on the French player who could could leave the club for free. A big opportunity for many clubs."

Sarr is reported to be on around £120,000-per-week at Chelsea, presumably (and we're just speculating) motivating the club to sanction a free transfer.

How good is Malang Sarr?
The centre-back played 13 French top flight matches for Monaco last season, failing to establish himself as a regular, but he did manage their highest passing accuracy of 89.3%.

Sarr could come in as a capable ball-playing defender to reinforce Silva's ranks, with former Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel once heaping praise on the player.

"He played a good match again, very good — [I'm] very happy that he did so," Tuchel told Chelsea TV (via Tribuna) when asked about a Sarr performance against Tottenham.

"Like all the matches when we needed him, he was reliable, he was there.

"I have the feeling that he knows his role very clearly, he appreciates being in the team and when necessary, he steps up and shows he can be a strong teammate and a strong player."

Marco Silva admits Fulham success will lead to interest amid Joao Palhinha links
Marco Silva admitted it is inevitable that bigger clubs will be interested in Fulham's players in the wake of the club's success last season, but would not be drawn on reports Joao Palhinha is set to join Bayern Munich.

Palhinha, who scored a late equaliser in last weekend's draw against Arsenal, trained with the team on Thursday morning ahead of their trip to face Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday.

Reports in Germany have claimed a deal has been agreed in principal between the player and the Bundesliga champions, but the west London club would not confirm the midfielder is about to be sold ahead of Friday's transfer deadline.

Should Palhinha move to Germany, it would leave limited time to find a replacement for a player who was critical to the side's successful first season back in the Premier League during the previous campaign.

He featured 35 times in the league as Fulham finished 10th and almost matched their top-flight points record.

Silva said the club had players in mind as possible replacements but would not commit to mentioning names, nor would he shed light on Palhinha's future, beyond hinting that ultimately it would be decision made jointly from a financial and technical perspective.

"I won't make any comments about the situation of Joao, there is nothing new to say to you," he said.

"It's the business part of the football club; the people that are taking care of that are doing their job, I'm doing my job as well to work for the football club. Anything can happen in the next 36 hours.

"We made a fantastic season. Of course, you receive some offers for the players. Probably it's the first time this club are receiving so many offers and big offers for players. That means what we did, (is what) people are looking for.

"Now it's up to us on the financial side to take decisions and in a technical point of view for me to decide if I receive the OK from the club.

"I will not mention players from other clubs. It doesn't make sense really. If we expect to lose a player like Joao or I can mention other players who are really important for us, of course we should have a replacement be ready to come and help us because we are talking just two days (left) in the market.

"I've said in the last few weeks as well, we sold (Aleksandar) Mitrovic (to Al Hilal) and it's difficult to replace in the striker position. I'm doing my job, it is (my job) to try to give solutions if the club decides to sell any player from our squad.

"We sold a number nine and it's not easy to go for the number nine market. What I can promise our fans is that we will go for players if I feel they can be good additions for us and they can add something for our club and our squad.

"Signing players just to sign players for more numbers, we are not going to do, even if you're short in numbers, like now."

Fulham have been heavily linked with a move for Everton's Alex Iwobi, who Silva previously signed when he was manager at Goodison Park.

Werder Bremen striker Niclas Fullkrug, who played for Germany at the World Cup in Qatar last year, has also been linked as the club seek a replacement for the departed Mitrovic, who scored 14 Premier League goals last season.

"If no one leaves our club; we have to add a left-back, another midfielder, another forward player," said Silva. "It's clear we need it in terms of depth and to be more competitive.

"I would like to have news for you because it would be good for me as a manager and for our fans because they know the reality as well."

Silva also confirmed the club are trying to agree a new contract with Harrison Reed despite reported interest from Wolves for the midfielder.

"He's an important player for us," he said. "If he wasn't important, he wouldn't be playing almost all the games since I joined. We have to add players and not lose players right now."

Fulham could replace Palhinha with a player Marco Silva wanted in 2017
Fulham could look to bring former Sunderland man Yann M'Vila back to the Premier League if Joao Palhinha seals a dream move to Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich before Friday's deadline.

If Fulham's Portuguese colossus was tempted by the prospect of swapping Craven Cottage for West Ham, then it will have come as no surprise to Joao Palhinha's adoring public that the chance to put pen to paper with one of Europe's genuine superclubs was one the former Sporting Lisbon ace is even more determined to grasp.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Palhinha has informed Fulham of his desire to join Harry Kane and co at Bayern. The Bavarians have already agreed personal terms on a contract running until 2028.

And, after losing top scorer Aleksandr Mitrovic to the riches of Saudi Arabia, Palhinha's potential departure is another massive blow to Marco Silva's hopes of keeping Fulham safe of the dreaded 'second season syndrome'.

Fulham could lose Joao Palhinha to Bayern Munich
The identity – and the age – of Palhinha's potential replacement is unlikely to ease the concerns of Fulham supporters either. FootMercato report that Fulham have enquired about Yann MVila; a 33-year-old former France international who is currently available for free after leaving Olympiakos in July.

Once of Inter Milan and capped 22 times by Les Bleus; M'Vila impressed during a short-lived spell in the Premier League with Sunderland. But that was eight years ago now.

Then again, the scintillating success of fellow 30-something Willian at Fulham last season should be a reminder to supporters not to judge a player by his birth certificate alone.

M'Vila played 45 games for Greek giants Olympiakos last season. Clearly, there is still plenty of oil left in the tank.

Interestingly, this is not the first time Marco Silva has shown an interest in M'Vila. According to The Sun, the then-Hull City manager also attempted to lure M'Vila back to England all the way back in January 2017.

Fulham are allegedly keen on Racing Club's Juan Ignacio Nardoni too. Reports of a potential £22 million deal have gone cold, however.

Fulham make £25m offer for Tottenham midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg as they look to beat Atletico Madrid to the Dane with Bayern Munich showing interest in Joao Palhinha

Fulham are discussing a move with Tottenham for Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg
Marco Silva is keen to bring the Denmark international to Craven Cottage

Fulham have made a £25m-plus-add-ons offer to Tottenham for out-of-favour midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg as Marco Silva looks to add more Premier League experience to his side.

Hojbjerg is expected to leave Spurs before the transfer window closes on Friday and has also had offers from Atletico Madrid and Turkish side Galatasaray.

Interest from Manchester United sparked Madrid to re-open discussions with Spurs over a deal for the 28-year-old after initially pursuing the midfielder at the start of the transfer window.

The LaLiga side want to agree a loan deal with an option to buy at the end of the season, however Spurs are more inclined to secure a permanent transfer for the experienced professional.

Fulham hope to beat their Spanish competition to Hojbjerg's signature and are ready to buy the player now rather than wait another year to do so.

Tottenham signed the Denmark international in a £20m deal from Southampton three years ago under the guidance of former manager Jose Mourinho.

However, new boss Ange Postecoglou is willing to let Hojbjerg depart along with several other first-team starts including England international Eric Dier.

Spurs manager Postecoglou favours a midfield three of Yves Bissouma, James Maddison and Pape Sarr, meaning Hojbjerg has struggled to gain minutes so far this season.

He made his first start of the season in Tottenham's second round Carabao Cup exit against Fulham on Tuesday that saw the visitors lose on penalties.

Hojbjerg has made 148 first-team appearances for Tottenham and looks set to bring an end to his career at the club before the transfer window closes.

Meanwhile, Bayern Munich have had an initial bid of £47m rejected by Fulham for Portuguese midfielder Joao Palhinha with talks continuing between the two clubs.

Fulham Contact Manchester United To Ask About Red Devils Star
Fulham have got in touch with Manchester United over a possible deal to sign Scott McTominay, according to Sky Sports News.

The Cottagers are currently battling to keep hold of Joao Palhinha, who has made it clear that he wants to join Bayern Munich.

The Bavarians are pushing to complete a deal and Fulham would need to bring in a replacement if Palhinha departs.

They are looking at options and have now made contact with Manchester United to discuss McTominay.

He is seen by Fulham as someone who could come in and replace Palhinha late in the transfer window.

Fulham though face needing to fork out a substantial sum to convince Manchester United to consider letting McTominay go.

The Red Devils are currently trying to bring in another midfielder.

They are chasing the services of Fiorentina star Sofyan Amrabat and are trying to convince La Viola to let him leave for England on loan.

Fulham now have £73m trio 'on their radar' to replace Palhinha at Craven Cottage
Fulham may have to plan for life without Joao Palhinha at Craven Cottage.

Fulham now have their eye on three midfielders to replace Joao Palhinha if the Portuguese international was to depart, journalist Dean Jones has told GIVEMESPORT.

The former Sporting CP star will be a huge miss at Craven Cottage and they certainly won't want to lose him.

Fulham transfer news – Latest
Fulham have had a fairly busy transfer window so far, with their most notable piece of business being offloading Aleksandar Mitrovic, who joined Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal. The capital club replaced the Serbian forward with Raul Jimenez, whilst also using some of the cash to bring in the likes of Calvin Bassey, Timothy Castagne, and Steven Benda. Marco Silva will be desperate to avoid losing any further key players before the window slams shut tomorrow.

However, star midfielder Palhinha has been heavily linked with a departure, with MailOnline claiming that Bundesliga side Bayern Munich are hoping to bring him to Germany. The report claims that Bayern are offering around £52m, with the Cottagers holding out for £70m. As a result, Silva and his recruitment team will have to act fast to find a replacement, especially with clubs now sniffing around Harrison Reed. According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Wolverhampton Wanderers have seen a bid rejected for the former Southampton midfielder.

Now, journalist Jones has provided an update on Fulham's plans to potentially replace Palhinha.

What has Jones said about Fulham and Palhinha?
Jones has suggested that Fulham and Nottingham Forest are battling it out for similar players at the moment. The journalist adds that Wilfried Ndidi, Ibrahim Sangare, and Youssouf Fofana, who are worth a combined £73m according to Transfermarkt, are now on Fulham's radar.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, he said: "Fulham and Forest have spent all window looking at very similar players and now as we head into the final hours they remain in a tussle over midfielders. Forest have had most command over this situation as they have been lining up reinforcements but it's been forced upon Fulham while they battle to hold on to Palhinha. The players Forest have looked at like Ndidi, Sangare and Fofana are now also on their radar so let's see if they can make inroads on any. Fulham don't want to have to sign a player of this type but need to be making plans."

What's next for Fulham?
Although Jimenez was brought in to play up top, it's unlikely that he will be able to replicate the form produced by Mitrovic after a disappointing few seasons. Journalist Jones has previously spoken to GIVEMESPORT about Duvan Zapata, Moise Kean, and Armando Broja, but the reporter claims that all three deals look unlikely. In terms of additions elsewhere on the pitch, it's understood that the London club are also keen on Tottenham Hotspur defender Eric Dier. The England international could be allowed to leave the club before the deadline, with Ange Postecoglou deeming him surplus to requirements.

It could be a busy end to the transfer window for Fulham, especially if Palhinha was to leave the club, as there's no doubt a replacement will be needed.

Fulham identify Scott McTominay as potential Joao Palhinha replacement
Fulham are reportedly making late moves to sign Scott McTominay from Manchester United.

According to Sky Sports, Fulham are interested in signing Scott McTominay from United.

It is suggested that Fulham view McTominay as a potential replacement for Joao Palhinha, who looks set to join Bayern Munich ahead of the deadline.

So, with that in mind, Fulham manager Marco Silva needs to identify a replacement.

Fulham are doing due diligence on a number of options, and they will know that United already rejected a £30m offer from West Ham for McTominay earlier this summer.

Moreover, Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth claims Fulham have made initial contact with United over McTominay. He adds that it would take a substantial offer for the Reds to even consider selling the Scotland international.

If selling McTominay means Erik ten Hag has more funds to recruit an upgrade in midfield, like Sofyan Amrabat from Fiorentina, we need to make it happen.

I wouldn't be surprised if more clubs showed interest in McTominay before the deadline.

Another name linked United was Ryan Gravenberch, but the Netherlands international looks set to join Liverpool, as per James Pearce.

Fulham eye Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg as potential replacement for Joao Palhinha amid Bayern Munich interest

Fulham are holding out for at least £60m for their star midfielder as Bayern push for late move

Fulham have opened talks with Tottenham midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg as a potential replacement for Bayern Munich target Joao Palhinha.

The Spurs midfielder is one of several options contacted, alongside reported targets Scott McTominay from Manchester United and Monaco's Youssouf Fofana.

Hojbjerg is willing to listen to the Cottagers having not started any of Ange Postecoglou's first three Premier League matches.

Atletico Madrid hope Spurs lower their demands to allow them to enter the race before the transfer window closes at 11pm on Friday night.

Hojbjerg's potential exit could allow Postecoglou room to sign a midfield, with Chelsea's Conor Gallagher among his targets.

Fulham, meanwhile, have rejected an initial £47million bid from Bayern Munich for star midfielder Palhinha. They are holding out for at least £60m and could re-invest the windfall in multiple players.

Palhinha is keen to leave Craven Cottage and has already agreed personal terms with Thomas Tuchel's German champions.

Wolves have also had a bid rejected for Harrison Reed with Fulham locked in talks to sign Everton's Alex Iwobi.
