Interesting one. He pretty was awful at United (who isn't however and a long time ago) but record is pretty outstanding everywhere else for goals and assists for minutes played. 269 goal involvements in 459 games! Can play left wing or striker which is just what we need of sticking with just Muniz and Raul as another option (as well as Jay). Still only 30. He is on £145k a week however so would have to take a big drop. Get him for say £80k a week on a free I'd be all over it to free up funds elsewhere. Prob a bit of a long shot however.

You mean Calvin

And Issa, Ange and Mikel in that case

That's being silly, we all knnow their first names. The point is that he is either Bassey or Calvin but his name is not Shirley.
Now try telling us fans that Gordon Davis's name wasn't Ivor

Sweet Christmas I'd love to see Memphis in white.

Bit different isn't it? I suggest there's a difference between nicknames and changing someone's gender!

Anyone still reckon Lookman isn't good enough for us or would the few remaining doubters eat a slice of humble pie and have him back as our superstar LW?

Don't think we can afford him after that performance. Reckon someone will bid 50+ for him after tonight and while he's good he isn't 50m good.

Not sure with Willian it's about the money.

Here we go again haha

Maybe he wants one last payday but suspect he wants to see if he can go anywhere with a chance of silverware.

I get a feeling his time here's up and it's probably time for us to move on anyway and prepare for the future.

Unfortunately it seems a few Fulham supporters judge him on that one penalty mistake.
Story of my life

Sadly she wasn't

I judged him on the whole season. Had numerous opportunities to score for us but often seemed to miskick and scuff the ball. He must have improved.

To be honest, might be a good move for Willian.  Have enjoyed his run with FFC, but might be time to move on, and with a huge pay day that sets his family up for the generations.

Not sure if has necessarily improved.  Had a terrific game in that final, but when he left FFC I was not disappointed.  I thought he had some nice games with FFC, but really not all that special of a player.  I don't think I'd welcome him back if it ever came to that.

Think for Willian a big reason will be to set up business connections for the agent career he wants after retirement. Which isn't about the paycheck but is ultimately about the money.

Quote from: filham on May 21, 2024, 11:03:30 AMWouldn't it be nice to have our team settled and ready to go for the start of the season, that means all new players here for the pre season matches say in just two months time.
That means Marc must have his in/out short list on the table by now, love to have a peep at it.
Definitely need the CB's to be signed before the pre-season matches, give them time to bed in and form partnerships is crucial. Can't be having them come in as last minute window transfer signings and waiting weeks while they bed in.

Didn't seem to be an issue for Joachim Anderson when we signed him, he was good at CB from the jump having signed late in the window, our issue that year was scoring.

Calvin Bassey signed just  2 weeks before the new season started. He was great from the start.

Issa Diop signed a couple days before the season started and has done well for us generally (was the starter over Tosin most of the time early this season and I suspect we only started Tosin later because we were trying to convince him to re sign with us and there was little to choose between the two) . That year we finished 10th following a great start to the season after a whole summer of people making this argument about how if you get players in later you're doomed to start badly.

I would always prefer better players late than lesser players just because they can be got in early if it's a choice. We have most of those players, presumably, for years after being signed. It's most important to get the right ones long term.

So I don't agree that we "definately need" that. I'd like that, sure, everyone always would of course.... but we already have a defence featuring Diop, Bassey and Ream with Luc DF in reserve currently. That's more than fine to not have to rush for the sake of it. If our top targets are available at a good price early and want the move, happy days, if we have to play the negotiating game like we did with others before, and if the player or agent wants to see what the options are, so be it. Thats the game

Issa Diop didn't start properly in the 1st team until week 11 in the Premier against Bournemouth after he joined us.
Calvin Bassey didn't start his run of always starting in the Premier until week 9 last season against Tottenham when he had to play Right CB.

Scored 30 and 16 assist in 76 games in Seeie A, including a hatrick in the europa final against an otherwise unbeaten team all year.

The guys quality and would likely have been brilliant under someone like Marco who actually knows how to utilise wingers and organise an attack. Just look at what Marco got out of Kebano for example.

Half the time for us it looked like lookman was having to make it all happen for himself because we lacked any sense of attacking direction around him.

His 3 goals yesterday were absolute top drawer against a great side.

Anyway, hopefully we find another exciting young winger to get behind but I would never turn my nose up at lookman personally.

Rate Lookman. All I could think of last night was the only thing I enjoyed about that season.....Andersens sweet pings out to Lookman to bring down and run at players.......ah....really what could of been with that squad of players  ::cry::

Indeed
Oh to have seri anguissa lookman areola Anderson etc in the hands of a quality manager. Feel like Parker. Stalled or messed a number of careers up tbh

But hey ho

Had that not been the case maybe we'd never have had Silva/Palhinha/Willian etc.
So every cloud and all that
