I wouldnt read too much into it. There are several other positions United need to fill before going for a left back, and United cant spend too much either this window- especially since Jedi likely will demand a hefty price tag

He's probably worth £40m, he shouldn't be allowed to go for a penny less. But to be fair in this market he could go for a lot more.

I would encourage the club to have a policy in place which prevents no more than 1 core player leaving in a calendar year. He must stay.

Best left back in the league, long contract, not even in his prime yet. 80m at a minimum.

At the age of robertson at Liverpool I'd be inclined to agree!

Quote from: Bassey the warrior on July 13, 2024, 11:29:15 AMPlaying devil's advocate here, but it's important for us to temper our expectations of Andre's immediate impact if he does join. It will take him time to adapt to the pace and physicality.

I imagine he gets plenty of time on the ball currently. It may be like when Bryan Ruiz joined; he really struggled with the tempo change and frequently got caught in possession.

Not saying this will happen but worth bearing in mind.

Yeah defo. It's a completely different pace and we play a completely different way. Patience will be key as he could struggle a bit at first. I imagine Marco will do the usual and ease him in gradually. All assuming we actually get him of course!

One good advantage we have is that Lukic did quite well in the position when Palhinha was out last season and Lukic does play DM similarly to Andre so easing him in shouldn't be too much of an issue.

Yeah him and Reed did really well together last season and no matter who we sign I would imagine they'll start the first game unless someone comes in and has absolute stormers in the friendlies. I also think Andre could work really well with Lukic.

In the current market I completely agree. The thing is unlike others Robinson said in an interview recently how happy he was at Fulham and that he'd only go if the club got the offer they wanted and wanted to sell him. Love that if he sticks to it. Means if we should want to keep him no issue. Seems to be very level headed when he speaks always understanding that he had limitations, has come a long way but doesn't get carried away with it realising that he has got a good thing with us playing week in week out. Take note Tosin.

Completely agree letting him go is too many core players in one season. Having said that if someone comes knocking at £60 million think we have to consider it and £70 to £80 million (all probably very doubtful) we'd probably have to sell for our own benefit as that is just a tonne of money. He is very key to our team and the way we play and although still up and down crossing was a million times better last season. If it were me then I'd only start talking over £60 million but wouldn't be surprised at all if the club would be tempted at £50 mil and that is prob more realistic for what the big boys would actually offer.

80m for Robinson is insanity. Pretty sure that would shatter the record for a fullback transfer by like 20m+ but that depends how you see Gvardiol. It would also just be a world record fee for a defender in Euros and equal the record in pounds. I think we'd definitely accept 50m and probably would take 40m.

That said, I would really rather everyone else just stays away.

Yeah think that's the point mate as much as anything...last thing we need is another sale and he's happy to stay by all accounts so either pay something ridiculous or do one Man U.

It's United though, they will nip and nip away because the club is an entitled shithouse.

100% agreed. And he will only improve

Just seen on twitter we are amongst clubs intersted in Nikola Milenkovic according to tuttomercato. A few months ago, I would have been against it, as he's been in quite poor form, but he had a really strong end to the season with Fiorentina (who reached Conference League final). He was also our best player at the EUROs. Sure we haven't been very good, but we have been quite good defensively(4th or 5th best team on xG against I believe) and he was excellent in all three games. Right centreback so could be a good Tosin replacement.

So we sell palhinha (our best player who turned 29 a few days ago and had long contract) for 42m plus add ons and the consensus of this board appeared to be 'well done Fulham great price for a 29 year old' yet Robinson (turning 27 in less than a month) is worth 80m and is not even his prime?

Strange logic

LC

Interesting that, according to skysports, Liam Delap just signed for Ipswich for £15m + £5m in add ons plus 20% sell on fee.

If you look at his profile and compare it to Jay Stansfield's they are very similar. In fact you could easily make the case that Jay is better. Good to know we have a young English player worth at least £20m on the books. Looking forward to seeing him play this season.

I struggle to understand fees and how people come up with them or suggest what a players is worth.

In Robinsons case, as I thought along the same lines as you re JP's price, I am thinking maybe it is because the club mentioned is based in the UK it would be higher. History seems to suggest English clubs selling to English clubs increases the price, would also think if that were to happen, Robinson countting as a home grown player would also increase the price

Hugh Janus

Left backs of a high quality are very much a commodity. However I think Robinson's crossing lets him down. Robinson also allows you to tap into the US market.

Palhinha, as good as he is, is a CDM. There's no shortage of them.

Seems like Forest lead that race and others including us have been thrown in to drive up the bidding

Possibly,if there's any truth however, I think he'd be a pretty good option.

We do need a rcb regardless. Not sure LDF is quite ready yet (and he also started out as a rightback if I remember well) , so Diop is our only option right now. We don't even have Palhinha anymore who could have covered that position if absolutely neccessary. RCB should be our highest priority, in my opinion.

Well I think a DM needs to be #1 priority but a starting RCB is a very close #2. I won't pretend to know too much about Milenkovic so I'll defer to you but looks like he is absolutely dominant in the air but weak with the ball at his feet. I just don't think we are actually really in for him. What do you think his price is?

Agree LDF isn't ready especially physically. Would like to see him get a top Championship loan.

Yes DM and RCB are definitely 1 and 2 when it comes to our priorities. I just think with Lukic/Reed/Cairney/Andreas/Harris we have a bit more depth in the midfield area, with two of them more capable of playing DM than anyone apart from Diop ia capable of playing as a RCB. But regardless, we need players in both positions asap.

Not sure if we're actually in for Milenkovic, but I do believe he'd be a good pickup. His passing obviously isn't as good as Tosin's was, but it's not actually as bad as stats suggest either. He's even more dominant aerially than Tosin and very strong physically. As for the price, who knows... Apparently Fiorentina want to get rid of him as he's a high earner and they want to rebuild their squad.

Agree completely on LDF. I have really high hopes for him. Ideally we'll get him a loan to a top half Championship club.

Would be a slightly odd one, as he doesn't seem to be excelling in Brazil, but maybe our scouts saw something whilst over there.

I suspect this is just his agent drumming up value/interest, as he seems to have more flashy edits on YouTube than he has minutes on the pitch...

Currently having a standout Copa America by all accounts and been decent for Palmeiras too. He made 37 appearances in Serie A (Brazil's top division) last season and well into double figures this year as well
