Don't know how much we can read into it in terms of Teams and lineups, but Liverpool beat Sevilla 4-1 today, where we obviously lost 2-1 to them.

We did play a weak team first half and won the second half 1-0, but may be a gauge of where we stand in comparison to Liverpool..

We already know that Liverpool is likely to have a stronger team than Fulham. The results in the friendlies are however an almost completely useless tool for assessing relative strength. In my opinion.

Friendlies are comparatively irrelevant, aside from gauging fitness levels and scoring ability.

That said, I'm not sure "Liverpool will be a stronger team than Fulham next season" is in any way a hot take!

With Neto now joining Chelsea, I think it's a great time to try pick off a couple of there more talented squad members who just are not getting any mins. I think Madaueke would be perfect for us but might mean looking at moving on Wilson who despite being a great lad has never been able to put any consistent form in at Premier League level ..

I would prefer to keep Wilson to be honest. The whole penalty argument between Madueke and Palmer last season wasn't great. And in another game he appeared to be laughing with an opposition player after losing in a semi-final of the cup after the end of the game.

Having said that he does look like a talent but he won't be cheap as Chelsea paid something like £29m for him.

I also think Wilson will show he's more than able to contribute in the PL and has shown that towards the end of last season.

However you dress it up, this is the objective reality.

Add mitro into this and it's 4 starters gone in the last 12 months (palhinha, mitro and Willian also probably our best players), 1 replacement.

Circa 100m in, 30m out. And probably some of the biggest earners off the wage bill.

While I agree we need a new CB and a CM or 2, some of the above is selective memory:

"Circa £100m in,  £30m out" Guessing you mean Mitro and Palhinha fees for the in? We spent £26m on Iwobi (regular starter BTW) and £15m on Castagne (regular starter again) after Mitro went so the Mitro money is NOT sat in the bank, it's spent.

While I also agree Id like us to do the majority of our work in the transfer market early, it's an inescapable fact that prices come down for your targets the closer we get to transfer day: for example Chalobah being quoted as much as £50m in several outlets earlier on now has reportedly had his asking price dropped to £30-35m; Fluminense wanting north of €30m which will most likely come down given their reported financial issues / lack of reported interest. It's not ideal but we only have a very specific budget due to FFP and we have to try and make every million count to ensure we spread it to get the best combination of players possible. It's just the way the market works in football these days and while it's annoying we have to get our heads around the reality of things.

It can be a frustrating period but I'm confident we'll pick up the CB and CM/s needed. If we do as expected I'm confident our squad will be in a strong place.

Madueke looks talented but I'd be concerned about his character - he seems to play for himself, and the unity of our squad seems pretty important.

From Chelsea, being realistic, I'd basically only be interested in Chalobah and Chukwuemeka.

Hope you right, just don't believe he quite has the physicality for top flight football. To be honest I think we will regret not competing with Brentford for Carvalho. Stil believe he can go to the very top ..

I think Harry's already shown he's more than able to contribute in the PL. He's got 13 goals and 9 assists in ~4400 career PL minutes. Now is he a player we want to see starting week in and week out for Fulham, obviously not, but he's a decent option to have on the bench.

Indeed, but if he finds form again he could easily start. Out of all the forward players we have both him and Adama are underrated.

I would like to see this happen but see it as a luxury at this point. We need 2 midfielders and a centre back. If we get a centre back and 1 midfielder then I would explore a deal for him but only after that is done.

Looking like our next strategy is bring Diego Carlos from Villa ( he has a connection with Silva at Estoril ) - backup Right Centre Back
and bring in Joachim Andersen from Palace ( of course we already have a connection with him ) as a DM who can play both sides and both sides at Centre Back in case of injuries

Whilst he can play there, Anderson is not a DM would prefer a specialist DM rather than a CB shoe horned in there

Never really rated Andersen that highly with us, and Palace fans I know are lukewarm on him. £20m I'd be interested, but anything north of £25m and we should walk away I think. As others have said, Palace unlikely to want to sell with Guéhi leaving and unless the player really tried to force a move out or we stumped up silly money (which in my opinion would be £30m+) I can't see it happening.

I personally think one "go back to your ex" transfer in one window in the shape of Sessegnon is plenty. We should be a forward-looking club primarily.

Agree I want him at LCB but Disagree that he would struggle on the ball at DM personally.

just look at his ability at LB as an attacking LWB for Rangers. Hes better on the ball than he gets credit for, hard to shrug off it, strong and mobile amd his range of passing and crossing at rangers seemed pretty good at LB. I think it's a role he could probably do but still would like him at CB.
