ElRay

Cherki, similar to Ocompas, Amrabat etc, agreeing a fee with the selling club is easier than agreeing for the player to come.

Think we're just trying our luck because he's still available & his options are running out.

Exactly as ElRay says - Ocampos, Amrabat are recent example. McTominay reportedly too. That's just with us. Vardy with Arsenal another example.

no smoke without fire.

As his options close he may well end up changing his mind - but for me it's a bit of a discouraging signal. We want players who are really keen to play for us. In combination with his often lazy performances for Lyon, I'm just not feeling this one.

Yeah prob right. To be fair if no one else comes in he's been frozen out there and May almost have to come. The old debate of should only want players that want to come but end of the day I've realised more and more that players don't in general give a monkeys about their club. They care about themselves and should this happen he'll give everything as it's in his own best interests to get to that bigger club. See if anyone else comes in then. Or he just runs his contract down but that is a waste of a year for him if not getting played.

Lighthouse

It was reported he wasn't interested in coming to Fulham earlier in the day before they reported that a fee had been accepted. So all this is just regurgitated news.
The above IS NOT A LEGAL DOCUMENT. It is an opinion.

We may yet hear the horse talk.

I can stand my own despair but not others hope

Rightwhite

Tbh if the reports are true that Cherki don't wanna join us then I would prefer it if we just moved on. That's just my opinion though and I trust in whatever MS and the board decide.

Lazy question, but is there a known reason why Lyon are happy to let him go cheap, and why so many big sides have ended their interest?

Last year of his contract so not going to get more than what we've offered. Dortmund pulled out because the manager didn't want him, and he'd already turned down PSG to go to Dortmund which upset PSG and they've walked away from a deal

sarnian

Let's just get Berge and Andersen signed then we can worry about others. Never count your chickens

Could be he's just cherking us out before deciding.  ::wink::  SORRY!
The world is made up of electrons, protons, neurons, possibly muons and, definitely, morons.

Cherki's one of those guys like Taraabt, Ben Arfa or Payet who are just capable of doing insane things technically.

Would love to have him, even if he needs convincing to sign. I think if we were to get him over the line, the manager and the culture, alongside his ambition to make another step up, would have compensate for any doubts. If he performs to his ability we'd definitely only be a stepping stone, but while it wouldn't be a long time, it would be a fun time.

Sounds unlikely from current reports, we'll have to see if Marcos able to have a word and sell the project to him. Perhaps pointing to Palhinhas ascendency and us not standing in his way would help.

Either way we got time to identify and bring in another attacker before the end of the window. Looks likely that'll be it for us but hey, ya never know.

I hope he doesn't cherk us around!

I mean if nothing else it shows we've got a good budget for a forward based on what we've agreed for Cherki, so it means if we have to find someone else we're not in bargain basement territory. Would be interested to see if we still sign someone else, because my rough FFP maths would suggest that with Berge and Andersen we're about break even for this window maybe slightly verging into net spend territory, so if we did see an opportunity to sign someone late on then it should be feasible budget wise, unless SK wants to keep spending down this summer

Looks like he is playing on the right side in these highlights. Interesting because we have several right wingers. As left footer, if his preferred position is on the right so he can cut in, then that would make Wilson redundant.

Have you tried pedalling faster?

My computer is actually donkey powered — and Tulip isn't getting any younger and I'm running out of carrots.

He is legitimately two footed and can play on either wing or as a 10.

I would like to see Jack Clarke join us. Fits the profile, he's English, and plays on the left. Probably available for about £20m.
