Apparently Juve want €15-20m for Chiesa, according to Sky

He'd never come to us.. surely... but if he would.. this over Cherki for me.. but unlikely. Just imagine.

Wages would also be a huge stumbling block on top of us not being prestigious enough

At 15 to 20 million on a 5 yr contract it might be possible.

It wouldn't be far off what the club would be spending yearly for Andersen.

Any more I agree would be out of range if his salary is similar.

Cherki is one of those who's been one of the hottest up-and-coming prospects for a whole that many expected to be a superstar but hasn't quite hit those heights yet. If anyone can bring the best out of him I'd hope it can be Marco and for me, at just £12m it's a no brainer to take the gamble IMO.

We were linked to him before so there's been ongoing interest it seems and he can play across the attacking line behind the striker (so not the backup striker option some of us may like for extra comfort - clearly Marco's happy enough with our options there if this is the case)

One that could have a massive pay off if it works out. Much like we revived Andreas career it's one of those at such a young age I would be very excited about what he can* do, whilst knowing that he's been a bit hot and cold so far. Perhaps in the premier league he could thrive on the big stage though, he certainly believes in himself. Marco loves a fluid signing, I can certainly see peoples concerns about not having an out and out certified winger type but I honestly though ESR was being signed as a LW originally and most of his effective work for Arsenal was out there so I think this could really work potentially.

I liked the idea of Wesley but he's untested and also blowing hot and cold with questionable decision making apparently so this at 12m for me is well worth the punt if we can get him for that. the ceiling is massive, it's a matter of if we can get that out of him...wish Boa was here to work with ESR

+1; Cherki is one of those ones where if he's average at PL level, £12m isn't too bad considering it's about the same as Knockaert & Cav and he'd be contributing to the squad at a higher level, and if he hits his potential with us then we're easily looking at massive profit in a year or two

Cue Marco doing a Southgate and saying that he still hasn't replaced Knockaert/Cav

To be fair Southgate meant he hadn't replaced Phillips with a similar type of player - deep lying playmaker who knows how to defend. He wasn't saying there's no one as good.

I'm liking all our signings so far and we have strength in most areas with the exception of striker.
I struggle to believe that Marco has total faith in Muniz and Jimenez so hoping for a surprise arrival in a striker role.

 We really need a striker in this window. Even on loan if there is not the money there. If it was me I would  try and offload Raul and his high wages and get some quality with pace up front to compete with Muniz. I am not convinced Muniz is an automatic choice up front. He has improved a lot from not making it into a Boro championship team a year or two ago, but we need goals and the options we have now are not strong enough at this level.

It seems like if Cherki accepts our offer, we could maybe even have new players in all three positions Marco said we needed available for the Leicester game. Then we could have a relaxing end of the window in which we don't need to buy or sell anyone, but can if a good oportunity arises for a loan/cheap transfer/free transfer.

He's played with both Tete and Andersen at Lyon has he not? Got two good references and I'm sure a chat with Marco will help no end
