I don't know that I'd buy him, but I'd use one of the loan spots on Nelson since he can play LW and RW and if we pop some sort of option in there after seeing how he gets on for a year we could maybe take that up

Maybe Arsenal will become our feeder team?

Im absolutley fine with that 😅 their cast offs have been top tier for us so far!
Agree they have been.but those we have signed permanently from them all had a good seas0n or more with Arsenal. Reiss Nelson so far has hardly set the world alight, I am not against this if Marco wants him but a loan with a view to a permanent move would seem a better option. Hopefully we have other irons in the fire too

Yeh I get that but I think similarly to ESR hes been kept out by great players. His main competition at RW is Saka! And on the other wing Martinelli, Trossard and ESR, with oodegard in the middle

I think similarly to Iwobi hes shown nice signs but never quite broken through enough to fully secure the starting spot in a title competing side... 90 arsenal appearances to Iwobis 109

Arsenal buddies think hes very talented but needs game time, much like ESR albeit not quite as high so far quality wise. At the right price think hed be a great pickup for a club like us and another who can play anywhere across the front line

I get that point Jay, that he was kept out by those, but ESR had a decent seaosn before he had those issues or the injuries, I am just saying I am not sure Nelson has had that. He didnt really set the work alight at Feyernoord either, they had an option to keep him at a reasonable proce and chose not too. So whilst we have don ok in the past, in my mind it is a slightly different case with Nelson.

As I said not against it just more cautious on this one, if a loan then for me I think thats a better option as i mentioned. You mentioned your mates I work with an arsenal ST holder known him for 15 odd years and his view was he is ok nothing special very inconsistent.

If Bergwijn was in play (I say if as I do not know) I would choose him over Nelson personally

Manor Solomon has signed for Leeds on a season-long loan

Quote from: LC on August 28, 2024, 02:10:10 AMI just read this on skysports website:

'Fulham boss Marco Silva:

"I'm almost 100 per cent sure that he [Stansfield] is going to be our player but I cannot guarantee that because it's difficult to control the market'.

Interesting comments, we have Jay on a long term deal so we are under no pressure to sell, unless Jay wants out that is. I would expect we keep him and he challenges for a starting place.

I think Marco is just acknowledging that every player has a price and if someone comes in with a silly bid the club may have to consider selling. You can see the potential in him, but he is not a vital squad member at this point or anywhere near the finished product.

arsenal wont let nelson leave for now they have literally no one but saka who plays on the right.

wonder who we will get in as a wide man. trustworthy links gone cold since cherki.

Chiesa to Liverpool looks nailed on. Hes just said to journos at an airport he wanted to say bye to fans and looking forward to next chapter.

Even though he's got an injury history and been in bad form for a year or so, €12m seems a steal tbh

He will tear it up for Liverpool unfortunately, god I hate that club!

Bassey the warrior

Apparently we've withdrawn our bid for Andre. Hardly a surprise given we signed Berge.

He will disappoint there as much as he has in Italy.

Quote from: Luka on August 27, 2024, 10:35:00 PMTonight highlighted beyond any doubt our need for a striker.
Raul was very, very poor and Muniz is not going to be able to run the line all season on his own.
It's got to be a priority in my opinion.

How exactly was Raul "very, very" poor? He made 1 bad touch in the first 30 minutes, which was a tough volley shot in the box that he whiffed. His one "bad" pass came from trying to send a chipped through ball into Wilson's path across their keeper.

55th minute gets absolutely blindsided in the head. Shakes it off, and continues playing. Shortly after receives a square pass which he pushes the ball past first defender with ease, but touch is too heavy as the second defender mops up. Comes back the other end to defend a corner and wins yet another header defensively.

71st minute - Cuenca clears the ball in our box to Raul, who has to deal with immediate pressure and balance on the sidelines and play a perfect pass backwards into TC's stride, eventually Wilson gets fouled in the center of the pitch.

His second bad pass of the night is in the 88th minute where he overcooks a side-footed volley intended for Lukic. The second time he's dispossessed is shortly after trying to drive through towards the corner flag but well tackled by Roberts.

Last contribution was a tough first touch into pressure, and managed to somehow contort his body to send a switch across the line to find Castagne - that was well approved by Cuenca. It led to King's disallowed goal eventually.

That doesn't sound very bad at all to me. A quality penalty to boot.

I agree we do need another striker - but for the sake of depth to challenge both Raul and Muniz. At the moment, in terms of goal scored, it's Raul in the lead. Hopefully Muniz can get off the mark because what he's done other than score has been remarkable and well worth the starting spot. I just don't want them to be too comfortable with just competing against one another.

If we have a chance to grab a quality striker on deadline day, we should 100% go for it. For depth, not because the other options are poor.

Frankly, Wolverhampton had the best of the man and I think he has had his day as a top class striker in England.
Neither of our main strikers are showing themselves to be "good enough" at the moment.
We need to recruit and quickly.

Left footed right winger; Wilson replacement maybe? Certainly not the vaunted starting LW we need so that means our top target is still not publicly known

Silva has never said LW, he has said forward or someone that can play across the front line, which Nuamah would fulfill.

He also name drops Willian every time he talks about wingers, and since he was the only specialist LW we had it's not farfetched to assume we want someone who is primarily a LW considering Wilson & Traore play on the right and that's mostly where Iwobi plays too

Deeping_white

Quote from: Angus Telford on August 28, 2024, 03:59:17 PMWhy wouldn't Nuamah be good enough to start? Just had a decent full season in the French top flight at the age of 19/20, seems an exciting talent. But sounds like papertalk because Lyon only just signed him, exercising an option on his loan at €25m.

Well my assumption would be that he's primarily played on the right for Lyon so we'd be coverting him to a LW if so, unless we are signing him as a starting RW which is feasible, but I would argue the LW position is more pressing as we don't have a natural LW in the squad as it stands
