I like him as a player but he's 30 years old and he had his purple patch a season or two ago, plus he mainly plays on the right and we need someone on the left. I think we need to look for a younger player or look for a 1 year loan deal if we can't find the right player.
Hope it's not us and no interest in Almiron.

Remember we were linked with him back in 2022. Newcastle fans seemingly a bit sick of him these days. Had talent and remember when he had his purple patch years ago he looked great, but never consistently did the business.

30 years old. So if anyone wants someone who can come in right now and play - well, he's an experienced head.
If you can grab him at 10m with 5m potential addons based on silverware and European goals - it could happen I suppose. Personally would prefer Reiss or one of the other options to this where there's more potential upside but as a useful option it could be worse I suppose. Sounds like we're casting a pretty wide net though and seeing what to pull the trigger on once the final options are clear.

I would rather have Wilson over Almiron, and I would rather we sold Wilson ::wine::

I know you're an optimist and so am I, but cmon Almiron is well past it and he's worse than what we've already got. The source for this alleged interest is the same journalist who claimed Palhinha had a release clause up to the point TK called him out on it and then said release clause magically disappeared so there's likely nothing in it anyway

At this point, recently, every single player we've been linked to for this position has been a predominantly right sided player that can play across the line. We lost Willian and BDR, we brought in ESR (who can play LW) and need one more to replace BDR (who was predominantly right-sided). So I'd say it seems, assuming there's anything in these rumours...Marco sees us as being more in need of a right sided player who can play left. Than an LW (given we have Iwobi-ESR-Stansfield-Godo and at a stretch Sess there)

Tabby

Just gonna get linked to everyone at this point. Just a little over 48 hours remaining.

the most positive thing I said personally is that "it could be worse" as a squad option, which it could, but that I preferred other options we've been linked with.

Almiron has some level of talent and been a starter in a team finishing above us. Do I think there are better options? yup. Do I think there are worse options, also yup. Would I personally prefer other players we're linked to, yes but as I said, it seems we're casting the net wide to see what options are available and will pick the best deal from those come DD

Interesting. Presumably we must have some inkling of interest in the UK or he's gonna be playing youth football all year. Don't really see a route for him here tbh. King already above him in the pecking order. Hope get gets a loan move to kick on and prove he deserves looking at. Still think he's a long way off prem level at this stage though.

Kingjay81

What happened to Almiron last season then? Because it was only the season before he was almost unplayable at times and scored some brilliant goals including at the cottage I seem to recall and was a regular starter when they finished 4th in May last year. If we can somehow turn him back in to that player then I'm all over it.

🤔

please no..

Pajaziti is 22 in November, I think if it was going to happen for him at Fulham by now it would have done. As mentioned above King now above him, so think he should really move elsewhere.

I presume the idea is that putting him somewhere in the EFL will get him much more exposure and is far more likely to result in someone paying us a fee whether it be the club he is loaned to or someone else as opposed to playing in Croatia where there is much less money and pretty much no one will see him outside of that area.

Quote from: Angus Telford on August 28, 2024, 03:59:17 PMWhy wouldn't Nuamah be good enough to start? Just had a decent full season in the French top flight at the age of 19/20, seems an exciting talent. But sounds like papertalk because Lyon only just signed him, exercising an option on his loan at €25m.
These things happen all the time in Europe. Clubs loaning players for a season then buys them just and quite often sell them on immediately. Quite common in Italy.

Villa bought Archer back just so they could sell him - all in the same summer

Interesting enough, Almiron was linked with FC Charlotte a few weeks ago but talks hit an impasse.

Aside from that note, it's a hard pass from me. His better years are behind him and he won't bring the goals that we need.

Fulham 442

Apparently we're after Earnest Nuamah from Lyon according to Sky Sports...
