Summer Silly Season Transfer Thread 2025

I'm starting to wonder if the reason that it takes so long to sign players is that Silva and the recruitment hierarchy have different kinds of targets. Silva wants established players but the bean counters don't want to pay high fees and salaries for aging players with little resale value. Most here remember the infamous 27 age limit policy, and a lot of the people that implemented it are still in charge.

Nelson may be a case where Silva wants him but it also the kind of signing that could saddle us with another Knockaert if he doesn't get over his injury issues. Kongolo was at least cheap, paying £20 million and matching his arsenal wages would be a huge gamble.

Might be wrong but get the feeling the club feel like they can play the slightly longer game and wait for Arsenal to blink first / hold out for the deal we want for Nelson because he was here last year so won't need the same acclimatisation to the system Marco plays as a new player, so that bedding in is less important than a new player.

Doesn't mean I agree with it or am over the moon that we haven't yet signed a single outfield player, but larger picture with Nelson if we wants to come and waiting for Arsenal to blink means we get the deal we want / it means we are in a better position to offer Muniz/Wilson contracts that fall within the new SCR parameters (plus hopefully allow us to sign some other sodding new players who will improve our starting XI) then so be it.

I've been happy to give the club the benefit of the doubt up until now but Christ it's getting a bit frustrating the closer it gets to the start line.

Would make sense if this wasnt pushed so much these past weeks. If we wanted to get a really good price then surely we would hold out until the final week of the window, but that clearly isnt the case.

I do however think we will do just that with several other targets. I can see us getting 2-3 players in on the final day(s) of the window

If/when Nelson comes in, he should be ready to slot in immediately. Already knows the team and system having been here last season and he's had a full preseason at Arsenal. So for him it doesn't matter too much how late it is at least.

Here we go again. Keyboard warriors trying to spoil the fun. DM has said many times he's not an ITK he just repeats what he's been told. We've lost MJG and WSW and the board is poorer for it because of abuse. i don't want to lose another one. So would the 12 year olds go to another forum and cry because someone might or might not as the case maybe know more than they do.

WSW wasn't even a Fulham fan, Didn't he get sussed out by someone on here,a lorry driver from Lewes who supported Palace.😅

WSW is most definitely a Fulham fan and he used to get the odd bit as a few do. Theres no such thing as a genuine ITK. Going back I used to get the occasional snippet myself but would never post on here because what I was told was in confidence. Half it never happens anyway

This is exactly it, if anyone was getting fed info they're probably unlikely to go posting it online as it would be told in confidence. I can't see the win for the club to release any info for it then to appear on the internet. But then this thread is labelled silly season...

Still think we will do some good business. Names will be big ( good ) surprises. I think the club get a lot right and have clearly learned over the year.

The other thing I've noticed, is that there isn't more communication about the window from the club but also the press interviewing Marco to find out what's going on and even how many signings can be expected.. Normally that's a bare minimum.

   There hasn't been any real news that Marco is cheesed off and ready to jump ship. I dont think Kenny would of re-signed if he thought change was in the air. I'm of the opinion that we do have a list of players that Marco, the scouts and the Chairman want to strengthen the squad. It's just an odd window. Other clubs in and around us don't seem to be able to get players in either.
   I don't think the Chairman is thinking of cashing in either. The Riverside is now almost complete. If he wanted to sell the best time would be when all the Riverside operations are up, running and making money. 
   We tailed off badly at the end of a good season. So we all know we need a stronger squad not just numbers.
