Quote from: TB1973 on August 06, 2025, 03:45:48 PMIf the club are worried about this SCR rule coming in, why did Marco say we were looking to bring in additional players, and why did we extend Cairneys contract, as bet he is on good wages, but will probably only play bit part rule.

he's on £30k a week (estimated) so perfect for SCR. Much like Muniz currently on £7.5k a week.....to get players are these qualities costs a lot more to replace.

Also a very good point. Could keep him next year as incredibly low cost (if he still had the legs for it)!
I think probably best to see how many minutes he manages this year first! £30k a week may be cheapish in the context of the wider squad but it would be a fair bit to pay someone who's not on the pitch 70-80% of the time.

Depends on impact off the field as well. Cairneys a known character for the dressing room and a leader. That adds value to the team.

True, although it would be nice to see some new leaders emerge.

Andserson addition obviously is a leadership role. You'd hope between Lukic or Berge one would emerge as well. I just think for a bit part player, Cairney ticks a lot of positive boxes considering if variably low wage.

KJS

Quote from: vancouver on August 06, 2025, 03:21:51 PMAn aging squad and zero investment.

Still could get a mega money last minute move made for Muniz, or Robinson.

This kind of complacency is how you get relegated.

Nobody on here has a Scoobie about what the club are currently looking at in the shape of transfers🙄
Let them do what they're paid for and then see how we stand at the end of the window.
As for complacency, the owners are the ones who would loose the most if we get relegated so I don't believe they are asleep at the wheel

The aging squad narrative is baloney. Anderson and Raul are the only older players near the first team.

Not true pal. Don't think we would get mega money for Robinson, (his crossing ability puts that argument to bed) . Plus nobody has yet bid for him ? As for the ageing squad nonsense, I dont get that sentiment at all.

I don't know where this Cairney on £30k a week comes from. It's complete and utter rubbish. I know how much he's on and it's miles more than that. I never believe these figures quoted when I saw one saying Alfie Mawson was on £20k a week, again miles out

Every salary site has him on that. How much is he on then?

Oh my god it's actually happening!!!

Or is it????...Bournemouth announcement incoming.

Paha don't...
I fear some might jump if so 🙈

Can you imagine?! To be fair for once my logical brain might actually completely desert me and I might actually join them.

Don't worry - I'll go first just to not have to read the impending meltdown 😅🤣

He hasn't been sure for the last 8 weeks. Then he saw the bright green retro kit and thought F this Arsenal tat...need a bit of that in my life. Clearly sealed the deal.

Other players won't be able to resist either...the flood gates have opened.

Got the same Uber driver as Hudson Odoi had last year, Reiss is now giving direction to make sure he gets here, he'll then fall out of the cab and injure himself

Sorry, what?
Oldest team in the league.
Only one player under 24 anywhere near the first team.
Maybe you were being sarcastic, apologies if so.
