Think this was brought up previously, but we will need cover for Iwobi and Bassey due to AFCON,not taking into account possible injuries, suspensions.

we are still arguing over about arsenal if we buy Nelson that they throw in an ambulance and a crew ready from when he gets injured.

Also, the fact that there is no actual news. It's all derived from him not being on bench for Arsenal!

OMG

Listening to 5Live and Everton seem to be going for it. Even talking about Grealish on loan.

Moussa Dembele the 3rd

Leno - 33
Tete - 30
Andersen - 29
Bassey - 26
Robinson - 28
Wilson - 28
Berge - 27
Lukic - 29
Iwobi - 29
ESR - 25
Muniz - 24

King - 18
Sessegnon - 25
Traore - 29
Diop - 28
Cuenca - 26
Periera - 29
Castagne - 30
Reed - 30
Cairney - 34
Raul - 34

Other than Cairney and Raul the entire team is either in their prime or coming into their prime. We are not overloaded with aging players who are past their best.

I'm watching The Transfer Show on SPN.

Didn't know Lloyd Kelly had left Newcastle for Juventus for £20m, for example.

There's a number of transfers this window I've only learned of today that previously bypassed me.

What a pity none of them include the mighty whites 🥲

I just don't get how these sides below us are splashing cash around, showing ambition to kick on and we are not.

Quote from: Rightwhite on August 06, 2025, 04:59:48 PMAs for the ageing squad nonsense, I dont get that sentiment at all.

Sorry, what?
Oldest team in the league.
Only one player under 24 anywhere near the first team.
Maybe you were being sarcastic, apologies if so.
Err no. Weren't being sarcastic. Yes oldest team in league but not ageing. Ageing means a decline in performance. They can still perform at the highest level, Willian is proof of that in his 1st year with us at age 34. We dont have many players close to that. A few yes but not many.

To deny the team is ageing is the equivalent of arguing up is down. You can't reinvent the English language to suit your argument. It is nothing other than a denial of reality

It's frankly mental gymnastics to excuse a window that's fallen below our lowest expectations.

Went into the window aiming to improve... now that's no longer required because apparently everyone else is getting worse.

Went in with universal agreement that we needed to lower the squad age... now apparently players can go until they're 40 so it's fine

Nobody should be the least bit surprised that Everton are fairly busy this summer. They lost a lot of players this summer. Players who accounted for ~11,000 PL minutes (of 37,620 total) played season.

Everton also had a lot of players leave at the end of their contract, and I think are out of a difficult 3 year psr cycle.

Not sure how stadium costs impact their finances, believe its not part of psr etc.

Pity our ridiculously expensive riverside stand income doesn't seem to be going to use on the team.

Do think our already full squad is throwing perceptions a bit...,

We bought 3 £25m to just over £30m players last season in Berge, ESR and Andersen.

Moyes said they needed 9 players. They have got 5 where they have splashed similar fees on 2 and a lot less on the other 3. They still need 4.

We need a striker, a midfielder and a winger or two so 3 or 4.

Basically at this point in the same position as them except for the fact that a lot of the 5 they have got only came in recently so haven't had a full pre season like our squad have.

Obviously if they get their other 4 and we don't get our 3 or 4 different story but still think we will by the end of the window and at this point not much difference in what has been needed and recent spend.

Rumour on the other chat that we are in for Jonathan Rowe.

And one of those 5 was on loan with them for the second half of last season and played ~800 minutes.
