Makes sense. They need a striker. They want rid for various reasons. Wish him all the best in another relegation season for him. Hope Leeds grossly overpay and get very few games out of him.

They got frightened off by DCL wage demand with no transfer fee, Mitro isnt going there

Saying that, someone on facebooks claiming he's had chat with Marco and is coming back. Reads like complete fan fiction....

KentFulham

He would certainly walk in ahead of Muniz and Rual

Based on his fitness levels over the past season, waddle would be more accurate.

Castagne on the left, Bassey out of position, an untried kid? But for those who are relaxed about our current squad I guess one injury must be easy to cover?

Yeah, we are down to 3 senior players that are used to covering a position (Cuenca, Bassey, Castagne) after the two first choices are out. Clearly a lack of coverage.

I'm not sure how you figure how we will fit at least 3 dedicated players for every position with a 25 man squad, but those are just petty details I'm sure.

Not even impressive sarcasm for a ten year old.

We have 2 LBs. They are both injured. Should we have 3? What happens if they get injured too. Should we have 4?

We all know Sess isn't a natural LB so no we don't have two LB's. Should we have 3? Possibly not, but 2? Yes absolutely.

Sess is a LW not a LB, I wish MS would stop playing him out of position, so much better going forward and crossing the AR. I would love to see them both play at the same time

Bassey played LB @ Rangers & has played there for Nigeria, possibly Ajax too.

I really don't know why we have not tried in pre-season Cuenca @ LCB & Bassey @ LB.

I don't mind sess at LB, as backup, but I do prefer him more advanced. I still think a third youth prospect would be nice. Sometimes we could rotate them into the team and keep sess forward, or drop sess back.

But I think another LB on full wages isnt a priority

Whether one is fuming at the lack of signings or otherwise surely nothing to do with this as all reports are that we are in for a CM, winger or two and 3rd striker. No mention of left back in that list. We have two and unfortunately they are the only two injured players in the squad (if Sess is indeed injured). We have multiple options at lefts back with Bassey, Cuenca and Timmy C who plays there regularly for Belgium I believe. My guess is Timmy C if Sess is out.

Cuenca and Bassey have played LB but would be out of position. Timmy had some starts at LB in his Leicester days but stats and supporter feedback suggest he was more effective as a RB. Sess is not a comfortable fit as a LB, we all know he is far better played further forward. To my mind we have no specialist cover at LB and I would hate to see Robinson rushed back just because of lack of cover.

I don't particularly like Sess at left back but he's improved dramatically there over the last season. More importantly however is not what we think but what the club/Marco think and there has been no indication that we are looking for a left back so rightly or wrongly they seem to feel the position is covered. Bassey was brilliant at LB for Rangers and I'd like to see it but Marco doesn't seem to have any interest in that at all. Believe Timmy has done okay there but yes of course better right on his natural foot.

The director that spoke to a poster on here about who we were looking for made no mention of a left back and the same with Peter Rutzler when he discussed the positions we were looking for. Nothing to do with our failure to sign anyone then as doesn't look like we are even trying to at LB.

Zinchenko would certainly be useful if we signed him at CM as he could also cover LB but in an ideal world I'd personally like a more dynamic CM so wouldn't really want to sign him unless we bring in another CM on top which looks pretty unlikely unless both AP and Reed were off.

Oh come on man, it's a football forum. No one gets hurt.

Anyway, addressing your and Hatch's posts, I think there's a difference between "hoped we could strengthen" (you) and "we expected much more" (Silva), not least because i've familiarity with the dictionary, and the different meanings of "hope" or aspiration, versus "expectation".

Again

No one said anyones getting " hurt",said it was an unpleasant environment to talk in. As continues here with further misrepresentation and random vague insult for little to no reason.

F me. Summer can't end quick enough

Back to football.

Agreed, prefer sess at LW but he's a capable LWB and agree he's much improved there from when he left to my pleasant suprise. And failing that Cuenca and Bassey can play there competently so no panic stations there.

Fwiw Bassey is a great CB but he played regularly at LB for rangers and was very effective there. Those maruading runs are part of his game.

Drewry66

Yeah F this summer!!

 :slap:

Just think however...on a positive note we get all the excitement of 3 or 4 signings in a week or two rather than said excitement being spread over two months so tonnes to look forward to!  ::smile::

Tony's just saving all the pills up and we get to then triple drop and go out of our frigging minds on new player ecstasy. 🤪

Well until the come down of everyone saying they are crap at least.   ::thumb::

Dictionary
Definitions from Oxford Languages

hope /hōp/ noun

1.a feeling of expectation and desire for a certain thing to happen.

Expectation is literally used to define hope.

Like Marco, my expectation is Fulham willl sign players before the window closes. I wish some of them had been signed by now but I keep hope that it will yet happen.

I know its a forum and I know I could bypass the posts but this is the transfer thread ( albeit silly ) so I have to view it - and its become like the Muppet Show with Statler & Waldorf.
Please , please set up your own thread and bicker to your hearts content. Neither of you are going to let it go so just keep bitching on but somewhere else! I have said before that both of you make extremely good points but they become lost behind the veils of your individual pedantic stances.

Im sure you are both terrific blokes to have a drink with  but not at the same time.

Apologies for the rant gentlemen but Im exhausted
