Atalanta with Gasperini would be a step up, Atalanta under Juric is a massive step down. They'll be more likely to go down then challenge for any titles/trophies. He will get a few Champions League games before they go out at the earliest possible stage.

We must have Taremi plus one lined up if we're at this stage. Hopefully a massive fee is reinvested into Kevin and another striker and we use what was our existing ~£35m budget to buy a quality #8 and winger (I assume it'll sort Nelson/Sterling out)

He's forcing a move. It's just business at the end of the day but still pretty vile behaviour from someone who would be in League One now if the club wasn't patient and believed in him.

Can't help but think that the Muniz wanting out rumours are stemming from us (Ali Mac?) speding too long low-balling his contract renewal and his agent leveraging interest from elsewhere to get a better deal, or a trnasfer on terms they want.

All reports of our reported transfer offers being rejecting throughout the summer seem to indicate a similar trend, so i'm inclined to think that similar issues are at play here as both transfers and existing player contract negotiations are dealt with by the same people.

I may be way off base but get the feeling that seeing as Muniz has been on comparatively such a low wage for so long that our ops management team believe they can get away with low-balling a pay increase. The problem is that the interest from other teams such as Newcastle, Atalanta (both CL teams) and Leeds demonstrate he is valued at more than whatever we've offered.

I understand that as a small to medium PL club based on revenues that we only have a finite budget, but we simply cant be low-balling BOTH existing player AND incoming transfer negotiations when we have not spent a million yet this close season: I just don't accept that our financial position is THAT dire (SCR ISN'T a factor yet and once it does become one, IF at all, next summer then balance the books then by selling a player or 2 and getting the high earners like Raul off the payroll).

I reckon there was a point then easily if we gave Muniz a decent contract all of this talk went away: I hope we are not beyond that as get the feeling he just wanted to be valued by us as much as he enjoyed playing for us.

Sadly I think, due to PSR and other rules, every club has to make at least one large sale every season to be able to continually invest. It's a pity that it had to be Muniz.

I have to say I'm extremely disappointed if the rumours about Muniz are true. I can't blame him really. He has been rather poorly treated by the club.  In fact, in my opinion this whole situation has been extremely poorly handled by the club, unless of course they truly think he isn't good enough. In that case they had better come up with a better alternative, and I can't see any signs of that happening.

Personally I still think Muniz has a HUGE potential. He should have been given more starts and a better contract a long time ago. In my opinion, letting him go will be one of the worst mistakes the club has made in recent years. Absolutely shocking, unless they've got a TOP quality striker lined up as his replacement.

I have defended the club and ridiculed this constant criticism for months now. Always by saying we keep the squad we have. Should we start the season we just one forward. A player who has played all through the Summer with Mexico. Then I think it would be safe to say that there is clearly poor judgement by the management and owners.

However Muniz was at the media day so I am hoping that these stories remain still stories. We still require a third striker anyway to replace Vinni. As well as the three or four players that Silva is quoted as saying we need.

It'll be a real blow if Muniz does go. It's looking likely. Taremi as a replacement at 33 years old isn't going to help us reduce the age of the squad so I hope we have other options on the list!

Feel like people are far too sentimental. Doubt Muniz on a bigger contract or connection to the club account for much if he wants to go to a CL club.

If the club has given the green light then surely there has to be a replacement going in as Silva has underlined that he holds veto rights in transfers and the Palhinha saga. If it is just going to be Taremi I'll be very disappointed.

I wouldn't read too much into the media day, as others have said earlier in the thread, Mitrovic modelled our home kit before being sold.

I suspect the club feel Muniz's value has reached its high water mark, and that he will not evolve into a guaranteed starter as they had hoped. The jury is certainly out on whether he will progress sufficiently, and Raul did win back his starting place fairly easily last season after a few attempts with Muniz early on.

My wider concern is that the club is not thinking about footballing progress, only financial sustainability and sell-on value.

Just as Mitro wasn't replaced, I don't think the club will be looking to replace Muniz. Instead they'll sign Taremi as the Vini replacement - who, let's not forget, was the 1st sub to Mitro while Muniz was on loan at Boro and Raul still played for Wolves. The club will then pin hopes on Raul scoring and staying fit, Taremi being a useful backup (which to be fair, he's well capable of), and someone like Loupali-Bi continuing to progress enough that he is the next valuable forward we could think about selling.

If we buy Kevin, it will be to create value and sell on at the end of the season (or two), not to push the club towards a top 8 finish.
