Quote from: Angus Telford on August 14, 2025, 12:07:02 AMI'd see Taremi as essentially a replacement for Vinicius.

Muniz out, money then spent to bring Kevin in, albeit a different type of player but same age bracket.

Then either re-sign Nelson, or go for Sterling.

Well if that's where we end up I'm calling it a crap window. Barely any net spend, barely any improvement on quality, and no impact at all on the squad average age (except maybe to increase it, factoring in Lacomte).

And all very passive and reactive.

Id want another striker in that instance

But Kevin is a potentially a signficant attacking young wing upgrade. He's also 22 (nearly 2 and a half yrs younger than muniz)

Nelson an upgrade on what we ended last year with, we did well with him in the team last year and were competing in European spots at the time.

Taremi is a much better player than vinicius even at this age, but agree that would be reason for concern if we didn't bring in another striker.

Would be surprised if that were the case though tbh. Doubt we'll let muniz go without another striker beyond taremi.

without 3 strikers on the books again ,considering their ages, Id have question marks around the window, but all hypotheticals at this point. Not long to see how it turns out, likely to be twists in the tail yet.

Loving the thought of Kevin/king/ESR/Iwobi/Wilson/Adama/Nelson as our attacking options behind strikers though at least.

Think people need to stop conflating and comparing Kevin with Muniz. They're not like for like and one doesn't come in to replace the other.

Kevin is, if anything a Willlian replacement. He's a winger.

Muniz is obviously a striker. The two aren't comparable.

If we sold muniz we'd need two strikers in this window, in addition to Kevin.

Marco said he wanted 4 new signings, so if muniz goes then we'd need five.

Who conflated and compared Kevin and Muniz or suggested they were the same position? im assuming this was aimed at someone else?

I haven't noticed anyone saying theyre the same unless ya mean DMs post which just seems to have collected existing ,very public info ,and made a predictive narrative that any one could easily have concluded based off of it, and agree the "Taremi is muniz replacement thing" seems unlikely from the outside.

Wed be doing exactly what many are which is looking at his goals per 90 😅

ffc_forever

That's 9 assists in 1887 minutes across all competitions (using Transfermarket data) or one every 210 minutes, a better assist rate than any Fulham player managed last season. Now to be clear I would not be a fan of signing Taremi, for a number of reasons, but he was quite productive from an assist standpoint last season.
[/quote]

Guessing those that are dismissing Taremi don't follow Italian football or Taremi for that matter before writing him off. Firstly he has two quality strikers in front of him at Inter in Martinez and Thuram. So has been played out of his position when he does get minutes. Also like most strikers he needs consistency/confidence and plays better when his manager supports him (MS will do this) his goalscoring never dropped for his national team where he was backed and supported. For those saying he is just a back up or 3rd choice are in for a shock as he is much more than that and is more like the Mitro we've never replaced.

He already gets bonus points for the over head kick against Chelsea (if you not seen it watch it).

I don't think that's true at all.

Muniz hasn't played that much for us. For g/a per minutes played he's actually one of the most prolific strikers in the PL, he's just playing a few minutes here and there over a larger number of games with skews his statistics to seeming worse than they are.

We'd be looking at him and focusing on those numbers and saying he's young, clearly has talent but needs more playing time to prove himself.. which is exactly what we need to do with him.

Hugh Janus

I'm still not convinced he is off. I just cannot fathom a club like Atalanta wanting him.

In Serie A, Eredivisie etc I'd be wondering about the numbers for sure.

But he is young with time to improve,

I would say if he doesn't want to be at the club, fight for a spot in the team then he should go. No one should have a Devine right to be playing more than anyone else, you earn that with constant performances, hard work in training. I have no inside info but to only start 8 games was Raul doing more for the team etc.

Hopefully all works out for all involved

I thought that when first rumoured, but does appear (according to multiple media reports) they have bid around 42/43 million euros. Think that is similar to the reported Leeds bid 4-6 weeks ago that was rejected.

We're taking journos news or some apparent itks as gospel. The club posted something recently, as well as andreas which showed he was engaged with the club and seemingly still pretty happy. Doesn't come across as someone who doesn't want to be at the club or the club are being overly sensitive about.

You could flip it and say: £40M for a player with only 8 starts and 'only' a 34 year old Raúl Jiménez in front of him.

I know it doesn't tell the story of potential and his actual contribution, but you can see why it's tempting :-)

(Fully prepared to get shot over above and in fact I don't want to loose him either)

Quote from: demeant0r on August 13, 2025, 11:31:14 PMIf he really is the next Willian, why are we haggling over an extra million Euro? If he truly is the next Willian, we'll double what we paid for him in a couple of years.

It's still a risk and one therefore that should be negotiated. He's untested in the top leagues.

We got other players to buy with a finite budget + We are already offering a club record fee here it's not like we're not pushing the boat out already

True but when you make several bids and keep getting rejected (when the selling club already listed their price) you run the risk of the seller pulling out and wasting several days/weeks or getting gazumped by another club, days you could have spent on another target. And when you're 2.5 weeks away from the window closing, every day counts.

We have made a grand total of two bids maximum according to any journo. Not like there has been a host of them.

Atalanta is doing the same thing with their prospective record signing in Muniz, are they also begging to be gazumped?

Also, as far as the Taremi as Muniz replacement I'd assume he is the cheaper option to Romulo as the budget for third striker wouldn't stretch to £20 million. The question is if Silva would be content with selling Muniz and getting Taremi in instead of getting a third striker. He was content with Muniz getting to step up post Mitro (didn't really pay off until we got Borja in to sit on the bench) and was going to rely on Stansfield last season when were gonna get rid of Vinicius (prior to Birmingham offering big money for him) but I doubt Lupalo-Bi is in the first team picture to any serious degree.

Suits what they are looking for in a pressing machine and focal point though. I think the fact, he's developed a lot in last 2 years, shows that he can get better. The seasons prior to that he looked so raw and still rough round the edges.

I really hope Muniz stays
Taremi is a good striker but no way that is our replacement for Muniz would be shocked

If we looking at replacement for Muniz my 2 picks personally would be

Tolu Arokodare
Folarin Balogun

I want Muniz to stay
No chance we replace him with Taremi i would be shocked

Technically you did, when you compared their ages as some sort of trade off.

So you ignored the entire rest of the post (and numberous others of mine) ,including the first line here, where I said multiple times we'd ideally need another striker on top of taremi as Id be surprised if he was the the Muniz replacement, referred to kevin as an "exciting option behind our strikers" etc... just because I referred to kevins age in relation to muniz? Which was on a separate point entirely about signing ages (nothing to do with position)

that's the basis for saying people need to stop comparing them as interchangable? Think you might have missed the point entirely of my post but ...Ok 🤷

I didn't ignore your post. Just because I didn't acknowledge everything you said, doesn't mean I didn't take it on board. The rest of your post was good, perhaps sometimes what's not said is just as important. If I took issue or felt your whole post needed addressing then I would. But It wasn't necessary, so I focused on the bit that did conflate the two. It's nothing personal, please don't take it as such.
