Quote from: ffc_forever on August 14, 2025, 10:16:10 AMI don't get the hype with Muniz. I was gutted about rumours of Mitro leaving but Muniz I'm ok with so long as replacements are brought in.

Just my opinion but I see Raul as first choice and Muniz as second choice (with potential to be good or not good enough) so to have Taremi come in to compete with Raul for first/second spot and hopefully get in another prospect who is younger than mid 20's who can learn from Raul and Taremi

Re: hype with Muniz. Last season he scored against all the top 5; has one of the best goals per minutes and over performance of xG. In all relevant metrics he's performing very well.

In my opinion many of his goals show class and brilliant goalscoring ability. Both the goals v Liverpool; Chelsea, Wolves, and his goals in the cup too.

Season before he absolutely bullied some teams. That performance in the 3-0 v Spurs was immense.

What are people not seeing?
Plus, I don't think we play to his strengths, Marco wants a Mitro type performance but Muniz would blossom playing on the shoulder with cute little through balls. Not our style though.

Not sure I agree with this - some of his best moments / performances for us (e.g. goal vs. Liverpool last year where he made VVD look village; performances in the 3-0s vs. Spurs last year and Brighton the year before) he absolutely monstered and bullied the opponent's CBs, holding up the ball, bringing others into play, winning arial duels etc.

He has it in his locker to be the commanding 6ft ST, as others have said, he just hasn't ironed out the games where it looks like all he does is jog around the pitch for 90 mins and miscontrol the odd ball that comes his way (although these are more and more infrequent)

Yep, can do it, just feel it's not his natural game.

Something ive spotted with muniz is that his ability to get his head on the ball has improved, although his ability to get them headers in the back of the net is still evading him.

I want him to aim for 5 headed goals this season, that would be a good milestone

He tends to head straight down the middle of the goal, not at the corners. So they are straight into the keeper's hands. It's something he needs to work on as it gives the sense he is missing sitters.

Given a choice I'd sell Muniz to a rival in our league.
That just means we'd have one less to worry about !

I noted his header - disallowed for offside - in the friendly in Portugal. Beautifully glided just inside the right-hand upright.

@jolslover

I think Muniz is quality, a bit of a raw talent but in the future I could see him being an 80m striker. Has all the raw attributes, the X factor and I love his passion and how much he cares. He has come up with some huge moments (Chelsea away winner, Bullying Van Djik, Sheffield United bicycle kick) without even being first choice striker. His goals per minutes putting him up there with the best strikers in Europe and none of them are penalties!

Big loss for Fulham imo.

Quote from: The Cravenette on August 14, 2025, 11:51:21 AMMuniz has scored some brilliant goals for us and always puts in a shift. He has improved so much and still has massive potential.

I have no idea why anyone would think with 2 days left until our first match of the season, £50 mil in the bank is better than a striker with Prem experience who scores goals.

Think it depends how long it's left in the bank.

As someone with mixed views on Muniz aka the new Cauley Woodrow I should be saying we should bite Atalanta's hand off.

But do I have confidence in the club recycling the money, before the end of this window, on another good young player, on top of all the other business/spending we hoped to see? Probably not.

Angus Telford

Also if we're being shrewd the Muniz deal is exactly the sort where we should push for a buy-back option IMO. Even if it means we lose £5m or whatever on the sale price now as a quid pro quo, we'd keep the ability to profit hugely if indeed he does become an £80m player.

The new Cauley Woodrow?? Muniz will go onto have a career being a Champions League Level striker meanwhile Woodrow peaked at an average championship level striker?

Relegated from Championship wasn't he? So League one now, and by the looks of it, struggling to find gametime currently but lets not get started on this one.......We all know we disagree with Angus here but its a game of opinions.

I find the comments in X (translated to English) from Palmeiras fans quite amusing. They don't like us!  :slap:

Fulham? Just pay £30 million. Didn't they play hardball with Andreas? They deserve the same coin.

It's a moral obligation to stick the knife in those English guys, they've been treating us like idiots in the Andreas case... Ask for it.

You don't have to sell anything to this team.

This team is crazy... they don't respond to the offer until the last day... And then they say they don't want to sell to them. You can take

LOL a PL team interested in Flaco? LOL I doubt it.

Sell him and bring Jesus.

Send Pitico and we'll release Flaco.

Let's pray.

I wouldn't sell him to Fulham.

The day he leaves, they'll see how well he really plays.

Abel's scheme is ruining the guy, and even so, he keeps him.

Trade Andreas + 5 fixed and 5 goals or sell him for 30.

To Fulham, he's worth 45 million euros.

Just send the kid and that's it.

At least 30 million pounds. They made fun of Andreas, so let them turn the knife.

As much as I want Flaco to go, tell Fulham to go love themselves.

Then he must leave!

Without Paulinho at the moment, there's no way to negotiate Flaco.

Ask a fortune for Flaquito. 25 million. Those English guys really pissed off Palmeiras. What's worse is that the stupid board won't bring GJ back.

This team that denied Andreas Pereira's departure, stalling for two months, is asking for 30 million euros.

Probably, any offer of 20 million will be accepted, since Pardal always blames him.

What are the chances of exchanging him for Andreas?

It's hard to believe this kind of news, but if it's true, it's a great opportunity to sell and sign a real player, Roger Guedes, Gabriel Jesus...

I think people are being a little harsh on Taremi, yes he's 33 so perhaps only an option for two seasons and having two strikers 33 and 34 isn't ideal but his goal catalogue is very impressive.

Before signing for Inter he had four seasons at Porto scoring 64 goals and 10 Champions league goals. (An average of 16 goals a season across 4 years!) This is a striker that played 45 minutes in both Champions League Semi Finals last year but some are saying he is a bad option for a mid-table prem side. I would back him to do well for us if we can get him in... (I understand people would rather a long term fix or a player we can sell for a profit)

Bracken White

Flaco Lopez big 6' 2" 24 year old centre-forward - sure MS can spot quality. Shame about Muniz - but that's how it goes these days.
Stay Fulhamish ~ stay unique

Tabby

Flaco Lopez could be a decent replacement. Fell down the pecking order when Palmerias signed Vitor Roque as a marquee signing.

Yeah but as explained previously, the principle is a player who does a half decent job but can't quite pin down a spot in the first XI, and we keep saying "oh yeah but he's got potential to improve" even as he reaches 23, 24, 25 which isn't really young anymore for a footballer.

Anyway on balance I'd probably rather keep him than listen to TK explain why our £15m bid for a £40m-rated replacement failed despite us lodging it with a full 6 minutes of the window remaining.

SerbianLad

But Muniz already achieved much more and it was always obvious that Muniz had more potential than Woodrow ever did, so that comparison remains a very poor comparison.

hopper

Sorloth is a top striker and scores tonnes off the bench at Madrid, feels this comparison is based on not regularly starting.

I think the comparison is a tried and tested way of getting a rise on here for notoriety, or if not its one that's tough to take seriously.
