Sky sports getting a bit excited this afternoon with this... looks a solid lead too.

Looks like a Palhinha regen but younger...

Quote from: JoeS on January 19, 2026, 01:31:55 PMSky sports reporting we're still in talks for Atta (Udinese midfielder) and optimistic of signing Pepi despite his injury
That's the midfielder link I like more than any other we've had. He seems to be the exact profile of player we need. With Lukic now out for potentially a long time, it will be even more important to get a midfielder in asap.
Still in talks 😂😂 same crap every window Lukic  is injured in silva's words could be a long one ESR injured .
Get 3 players through the door  Midfield, centre forward and a player that can cover AM , LW. , RW

Lukic not ideal but we already have Iwobi returning this weekend to go straight into the 8 as he should be anyway.
Then we have TC as his sub. Worst case Reed has to jump in for some minutes at DM if Berge needs a rest, or ESR/King drop back to the 8. Thats not desperation stations where we should just overpay earlier in the window for the sake of it.

Agree we do need a CM, they're in the market for a very good one In Atta, but Udinese not in any need or rush to sell so it is what it is, if that's main target he's someone I'd be happy to wait another week and a few days for. Failing that it seems like Sara is the other one on the list but rumour was Gala won't let him go till after next round of champs league matches anyway + he had a minor injury so he's not jumping straight in anyway.

Did he play for Norwich a few years back

He did. People I know from that way loved him.

He sprained his knee and is out for 6-8 weeks so pretty sure we dropped out of that since our need is much more immediate.

He's really nothing like Palhinha at all. Does look really good though. Extremely good dribbler.

Yeah, if you wanted to compare him to a past Fulham player he's more similar to Mousa Dembele.

This looks like a rehash of something about a month ago we need tweets from Francis

My thoughts exactly when I watched this:

Judging from what I watched of Atta vs Inter and Pisa, I don't think he's replacing Lukic or Berge. He joins the forward press with the striker, then drops into what looks more like a right/left center mid role and can play out wide/wing. When he was playing in the central midfield, the 8 and 6 are already further back than him. He doesn't receive the ball on the half-turn, or have his back facing goal either. He looks good on the dribble, but his passing is off the mark a lot in both matches. He is fairly awkward looking and in that Inter match he was called handball twice in the first half because he's just a bit all over the place.

When he's got the ball settled though I can see the appeal. Defensive workrate would be a big issue though. He was out of position a lot in both matches and was caught on the ball which led to a point blank chance for Inter. There is no aggression to his defensive stance at all, literally jogging when danger in his own box, so again, don't think he'd be a Lukic or Berge swap. If anything I could see him being depth across the 3 attacking midfielders in our system.

I will say, and don't mean to be negative, he makes some absolutely odd decisions with the ball. Passing backwards when his team is countering, passing the ball well off the pitch backwards to his own teammate, turning into trouble multiple times with the ball. I'm not sure what amount we're going to push for, but I wouldn't be surprised if this was left for deadline Day kind of deal.

Pavel Dempsey

Peter Rutzler said Udinese want 40m for Atta so I can see why we havent signed nobody yet. Atta and Pepi are good young players but they are worth 15-20m max and their clubs want double that.

Thanks for the breakdown. Sounds like someone who needs a few months in training with Marco to correct his bad habits before he will be deemed ready to play in the PL. That is something Marco is very good at but will also send the fans into a frenzy that he isn't getting any minutes.

Ray is somewhere having a cold shower at this news

🤣🤣🤣🤣

At that money though it certainly suggests that Harry will be departing at the end of his contract surely. Big money to spend on a predominantly RW when we already have chuk and harry 🤔

Unless of course Silva thinks chuk or bobb can stay at LW more than they have done previous

@jolslover

So good if we can pull that off, would be a great signing

So funny, Ray is going to be going mental

His injury record is concerning. Only ever played about 40 games.

Hmm. Again. Not overly warm on this one as a Roma fan. He's not bad, and there's potential still there, but not convinced he's high premier league quality at this stage
