I would like Tomori but only as Andersen's replacement. He's old and on fairly big wages but he is younger than Andersen and on lower wages than Andersen so we'd still improve in both areas plus one of his biggest assets is his pace which fits very well in Arbeloa's system. The fee should roughly be about what we could get for Andersen. I would even propose a straight swap with Milan because he would fit well in Amorim's system as a CCB. Then get Boudlal or Mbow or Le Guen or whoever to be the younger RCB with pace and height to grow into the starter.

It's interesting because many on here are saying that the key priority is defence. However I remain concerned as to whether our three strikers have enough goals in them. I'm sure Garcia will prove to be a success long term but I think he needs to be given time without excessive pressure, to achieve that he needs a good back up and I really cannot see Muniz as adequate in any way, shape or form. Finally what I have seen of JKA suggests to me he would benefit from a loan to a Champ side for a season before trying to step up to Prem standards. Personally I would have lied to see us sell Muniz and bring in a different striker to be a credible alternative to Garcia. That plus a loan for JKA with a recall clause in case we suffer injuries would have been my preference.
I may be wrong Twig but i don't think you can do recalls on loans except maybe Keepers. Maybe someone cleverer than me can provide an update.

The striker, 16, has agreed terms on a three-year contract with the Premier League club.
It's understood that Fulham registered the player and applied for a minor's application with FIFA. They were granted an international transfer certificate to register the player with the FA.
Celtic will now be due training compensation in the region of £80,000.

Payback for when they stole Dembele Mk2 from us years ago. What goes around comes around.
Sorry Angus didn't see your post. Great minds think alike.

It's not ideal and hope it's not a case of throwing in the towel for the first game?
Professional footballers on thousands of pounds a week can't use both feet, a bloody disgrace they should be ashamed what are the coaches at youth level doing? picking their noses!

I think as long as you include a recall clause (both teams agree to one in the contract) you can then recall during an open transfer window and not outside of a transfer window. Not sure if it is the same for keepers

I think it's a great point made with regards to coaching & improving. Let's take Fulham for now and ask the question has any of our defenders gone up another level under Marco Silva? Personally not sure they have? Does make you wonder when managers nowadays have more assistants than the King? Money for old rope!

FFC007

They've known for a long long time that a RCB is a top priority and we are heading into match week one undercooked in the back line.

If Bassey or Cuenca get injured we are in serious bother.

Arguably Bassey and Cuenca stepped up under Silva. Robinson as well.

That's what I assumed i.e. that it depended on the clauses written in to the loan agreement. However Ian may be right, perhaps it's prohibited under FA and Prem rules except for keepers. No idea.

Cuenca hard to say considering game time his had? Bassey arguable?
Robinson personally no better now than when Silva took over? Was always quick has a great engine reads the game well had those attributes prior to Silva but in Marco's time here still struggled for composure when crossing a football. In 5 years the previous management had or have not improved that part of his game!
This has stopped him being a Top tier left back for the biggest teams!
Hope Arbeloa's management improves this part of his game.

Fully Agree and there are average players earning a fortune. At Ajax from their Academy upwards they use to coach right footed players to play on the left side, and left footed players on the right side in training in practice and in friendlies.
That is why they produced so many players who felt comfortable on the ball with both feet and strengthened their first touch no matter how they received the ball.
It was called total football.
These days players get money for old rope, for diving, pretending to be injured, time wasting and attempting to get an opponent sent off or booked.
No wonder the game at the highest level is in turmoil.
Its not the man in the fight, it's the fight in the man.  🐘

Agree on Robinson, not really improved over the 5 years, if anything i would say since he bottled a couple of tackles last season, Palace goal from me.ory, he has looked average, and he simply is a terrible cross of the ball

It isn't prohibited and not only for keepers, as long as their is a clause, if no clause no recall

Think it baffling to see people say Robinson didn't step up under Silva.

Complete madness imo and very much short term memory situation. The man went from - not sure which is better between him and Joe Bryan ...to one of the absolute top premier league LBs for a couple of years, which saw him linked to mega money moves to major clubs. Yes his form last year wasn't as good...off the back of surgery but there was a clear improvement culminating in a year where he had more assists than any other defender if I recall correctly. His reading of attacks and interceptions were a big part of his game, he wasn't quite as sharp with that coming off the injury.

Following last year's set back tho, he's had a good world cup and a full pre season where the looks more sharp imo which hopefully sees his form return..but the idea he's not better than when he joined us seems a bit of a fallacy to me.

And...if we're high pressing does Cuenca have the pace to cover the inevitable breakaways? I really like him. He's certainly combative but is this his weakness?
