Would be happy to add him or that tall Everton RB to the CB room.  Neither are top quality...but both would be good depth pieces and not a drop off from Cuenca imo.

Quote from: AnOldBrownie on August 27, 2026, 07:14:16 PMFulham aren't getting a CB for less than 40 million.   Apparently Chelsea are about to bring in an 18 year old CB for that amount...and the kid is currently above average at best.

I've given up believing the legitimacy of almost all Chelsea purchases at this point.

I think we can find something for 30m + addons with strict stipulations. keeping all fingers crossed

Same, and their sales. Imagine believing that Delap fee is legitimate. Madness.
£10 million punishment for years of cheating.

Quote from: General on August 27, 2026, 06:26:56 PMOne day we may get all our business done in good time instead of always leaving stuff last minute. This summer promised so much, but three deals is still a bit short of what we need.

Fingers crossed TK has some genuine surprises up his sleeve

Unlikely to ever happen given our size and resource restrictions

We have addressed the major problem positions with plenty time to spare bar RCB, which tbf isn't for lack of want or trying.

Naturally as per Leeds chairmen clubs like ours will leave powder dry to later in the window as players will become available to us that weren't previous and you need to be ready to pounce - which I can see makes sense, particularly on positions that aren't emergencies. Just the nature of the game tbh.

We have been making multiple 25m+ offers for CBs for best part of last month and a half apparently. But outside of that aren't really positions we desperately need enough to not explore what becomes more affordable or possible later it seems.

Indeed, fingers crossed, but frankly I'm less on edge about this than some others... plenty times we've made numerous purchases in the last week and/or 48 hrs. More than doable imo and plenty rumbles about players we're in continued talks with agents wise. As per Leeds chairman on the end of the transfer window 'nothing like a good old deadline to get things moving' or words to that effect.

I'd class a winger (or two) as vital at this moment as both Bobb and Kevin still seem to be blowing a bit hot and cold and our other options aren't really wingers. We lost Wilson and Chukuweze who together contributed hugely to our goals and attacking threat last year so we're well down in that area. So IMO it's at least 50% of our business still to be done, with one week left and nothing imminent (Romano et al would have told us if it was). I don't think you can say that's normal for an established PL club.

Yeah, I've competely stopped caring what the big six clubs are doing in the market. Seems like they can spend 100s and 100s of millions and not get punished adequately.

I don't think we need 2wingers as the system were in means Bobb/Palacios/King/ESR are all likely to drift in and out there. It's a different set up where we aren't really playing conventional wingers, that's what our wingbacks are doing. 8, 10 and right and left mids are all rotating around eachother alot but not really hugging the byline much

Bobbs looked good for me so far this year, needs some G/As to appease the stat book, but he's contributing to good attacking football.agree id like some more depth though but I'm happy with him starting.

Of the positions left that were rumoured looking at

RCB
RB
RW (RM)
CM

Only 1 of them we dont have a clear starter earmarked for currently

The 3 main signings can play across what were the biggest gaps in our starting 11

So CB is the big question

But if we didn't sign RB we have 2 very good ones
CM we have some very good options already, depth welcome.
RW we have Bobb, Iwobi, Zepa, in this system King and even Palacios capable of drifting there according to Madrid fans. Would like a depth added in all these but all manageable

We need depth and quality options for sure but talking pure percentages makes it about numbers alone which don't tell full story, for me  the situation is most important business is done,  whats left is players (other than RCB) where we can afford to see what comes available imo in those 3 positions. Ya welcome to disagree as you do. I'm not too fussed if it's seen as normal, more just bothered if we continue to be a competitive prem club as we have been.

Also don't really buy into the 'were down x goals' stuff cos x players left ...as ever new and existing  players step into those minutes ,and we play a very different system to when those guys were here. Not like Wilson's output was consistently that either.
So far in the 2 competitive games we look very capable of scoring goals, hopefully long may it continue assisted by whoever comes in

@jolslover

CB, RW, CM. Clear what we need.

Three quality Palacios/Garcia/Charles level players and we push for Europe.

Bobb is superb, all he's missing us a goal or assist as you say.

🚨 Fulham are exploring a late move for Augsburg defender Chrislain Matsima.

Early contact with his agency has been made, early indication is a deal could prove complicated but Fulham have some optimism it can be done.

Mentioned on the ⭕ a few days ago. Now double sourced for X

We lost a lot off offensive output. 21 Goals and 11 assists just with Wilson and Jimenez.

That's a lot of pressure for our existing squad.

You have to temper that against if they weren't playing and others were would those 21 goals not have been scored?

So that stat is nothing remotely true. Unless we're lined up with 9 players.

Carborundum

Having seen Garcia live on Monday and on TV last night I'm far more relaxed about the "where are goals coming from?" question.  We appear to have signed a modern day Gerd Muller.

A lot more comfortable about right wing too.  Zepa's thoroughly decent.

Centre back position is red alert and midfield still amber.

Put that way it gives a false view

It assumes that another player in the same situation would not have scored
It assumes that another player would not have scored from the penalty spot last season

It would also be just as useful if 4 players scored 5/6 goals - which is a more manageable number

As it is TK has brought in Gonzalo García, who the betting market suggests will be taking the penalties.
His odd on being our top scorer are 13/8 and he looks to have made a good start

He certainly looks the real things and a good buy by TK
It could be better, but it's not a fantasy:

Thank god some people are putting to bed this myth. "We lost x goals" is not a thing. That's not how it works. Even playing the exact same players in a new season with exact same minutes is not a guarantee of same output.

We have lost a couple attacking threats but we are replacing them with other players who will contribute in different ways+ other existing players will naturally perform differently in a new system under a new manager for better or worse.

Having Gonzalo alone shows how having a more mobile dynamic striker can completely change how we attack as a team.

Completely fair that we need more in the door for quality of depth over the season though , but confident that's what well get

LDF I don't think is premier league ready yet personally. But I don't see him play in training week in and week out.

Im perfectly prepared for the possibility of Garcia being better than Gerd Muller, but don't want to get carried away.  Before writing the above I watched a video of Gerd Mullers goals and there was plenty of variety there.  Pitches were worse, the game was slower, but then again Herr Muller was scoring them against the likes of Ajax rather than a tired AFC Wimbledon.  He just reminds me of Gerd Muller and, to a lesser extent, Didier Drogba.   The point is, he's top drawer and if we spend the season debating which top striker he reminds us of, that will be fine.

Sentiments that seem to be mirrored by Arbeloas comments. He's a promising player who needs more regular minutes. I'd love to see him head to Southampton if they sell Harwood Bellis or a team like that where he's challenging for playoffs/promotion rather than a bottom dwelling team like he was on in Belgium

Linked again with Manuel Angel from madrid as well as Cestero.
Not even mad at it. With the level of quality the RM boys that have come have been, I'm open to any and all the Castilla lads Arbeloa believes have what it takes.

They find it hard to break into the first team over there given Madrid's ponchant for buyin elite starts...but have one of the highest success rates in Europe for academy players playing in top leagues.

More the merrier 🤣

The worrying stat from that video is two red cards over 28 appearances. That's more red cards than the entire Fulham team got over a 38 game season.
