Quote from: hongkongfulham on August 14, 2026, 08:00:52 AMI see Tomori is up for grabs, think we could tempt him? contract is up next summer so number touted is 10-15m. Don't think Fulham is quite what he has in mind though
It's not the worse suggestion but he might see us as a step down? If he wants to be back in London or back in spotlight of premiership then you never know? Don't think he'll ever be an elite defender mind you is there such a thing nowadays? but would be a good pick up for us.
On another note spare a thought for AC Milan fans they have no idea that the bloke in charge is a blagger??

On paper he has the right attributes, quick and physical. However, he'll be 29 this year and probably on big wages.

Quote from: General on August 13, 2026, 02:03:05 PMThis is an interesting one, and a good example of being 23 but with 5 years of senior football and first team experience with a bundesliga team. Puts things into perspective. For me this is much more an example of buying youth but with experience to give some guarantees on performance... an interesting opportunity.

https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/joe-scally/detaillierteleistungsdaten/spieler/504153

Seems to get a fair few yellow cards (8 last season), but the odd goal and assist.

€7m euros if true is also surprising but an interesting reflection on value for money

Does beg the question as you say of who does he replace and what? Tete is older and more injury prone and Castagne has been whipping in a lot of good balls in pre season.. perhaps Arbeloas first choice? Both have limited contracts left

I would think the fact that he's 23, has 5 seasons in Bundesliga and is still only rated as being worth £5m on transfermarkt, is more a damning reflection of his perceived quality level by those who decide valuations on that website than a sign of a good value acquisition for our needs.

USMNT fans also seem completely underwhelmed by him. We'd just be spending on someone who's seemingly pretty average and specifically lacks pace, for the sake of not taking a risk on someone who is young but more highly rated with a higher ceiling (like Fort)

Given we already have Castage and Tete - I don't really see a compelling reason here to not go for the move with perceived greater potential upside. As then we would have 1 young higher-ceiling full back with pace and attacking ability from Barca's top-notch academy + 1 reliable quality veteran Full back in Tete or Castagne.

https://www.reddit.com/r/bmg/comments/1ufswwj/what_do_gladbach_fans_think_of_joe_scally/

Here are his clubs fans thoughts on the player fwiw. Not saying this is always a pure metric of course - but he has played 5 seasons there and consensus is - he's very average - hence valuation.

That aside I've mentioned above but I do wonder if Castagne is more suited to Alvaro's system given his attacking exploits which have been dampened by Marco over the years. But given the contract situation it might well be Timmy that departs.

Antonee Robinson was 23yo when he joined us for £2 million, had talent but questions over whether he could play at Premier League level.
Joe Scally is the youngest non-German to play over 100 games in the Bundesliga, highly rated 1v1 defender who is still improving, his market value of Euro 7 million is just refection of his age and the fact that as right wing-back he's still more defensive than offensive again just a reflection of the system he's playing in
If it wasn't for the medication I,d be chewing on your skin

I don't quite see how his valuation can be a reflection of his age. Surely if a young (ish) player at 23 had played over 100 games in the Bundesliga and was a proper talent he'd be worth way more than £6 mil?

Some important reasons these situations aren't particularly comparable:

1. Antonee Robinson signed from a lower league club going into administration that desperately needed the money, having been relegated to League 1 with a points deduction
2. He was one of Wigans top performers prior to signing, having signed for them 1 season before, he hadn't played in top flight yet, correct, which was another reason for his lower valuation at that stage.
3. He was seen as an upcoming prospect whose stock was ascending however, not stagnating, and the only reason we signed him was because he failed a medical at AC Milan
4. He was also an absolute freak athlete, which is why people believed his game had significant potential to the upside in the Prem.

None of this applies to Joe Scalley - who is more of a known entity with a poor valuation due to not massively impressing after 5 full seasons in an established league.
Also - the biggest critique of him is his lack of athleticism and speed...two things that get badly punished in this league as a fullback and that Robinson has in abundance.

The point about price is relative to their individual circumstances. There are 18-year-olds being bought for infinitely more money than this guy, him being 23 isn't the reason he's cheap. The suggestion is not even that Scalley might not get better, he might...but I think, personally looking at the profiles - some one like Fort has a better chance of a higher ceiling in a league like the prem than Joe and would rather take that punt personally knowing we already have an established right back to facilitate that punt.

+1 on Twigs comment above

It seems to have gone quite on actual rumours.

So, do we now think we are done with signings until our usual deadline day shopping trolley dash?

Isn't it going to be boring if it stays quiet until the end of the window. Hope Dave Kidd's correct in saying we want 4 or 5 more.

Doesnt sound like a mad dash so much as when players we want are available to us.

Seems we have our second offer in on Ait Boudlil at Rennes, player wants the move...it at least hasn't yet been rejected.
And we have apparently been discussing possibilities regarding Fort but I do wonder if Arbeloa might see how Castagne/Tete continues to play at Stuttgart and Chelsea before making a decision.

RW I suspect we'll be waiting for Arsenal on Nwaneri or a similar type situation where club probably wants a permanent deal, player probably wants to scour all options, and then see who from our top targets become available for a loan deal specifically.

Pitarch situation seems out of our hands but I gather he's our main choice at CM so it's a matter of if Real let him move.

This.  Have followed Scally's career closely.  Incredibly happy for him and what he's accomplished.   He's not top half of EPL quality.  Not his fault - he just doesn't have the wheels.

Another reason why those fees are not comparable is because Jedi had either a ridiculously low £1.8m or £2m release clause upon which we agreed to pay an additional (I think) £200k as that was the figure Wigan needed to bring in to avoid going into administration, so even with the additional £200k we were willing to pay it was still below his market value, even at the time.

Anyway, I don't know much about Scalley but if even his own clubs fans are "meh" about him in the Bundesliga (plus our own USMNT followers posting on here, apparently), I'm not overly enthused. Fort or even Wan Bissaka over him please. Or strengthen the other positions first such as RCB, CM (Pitarch please lord!) and RW if we need to sell to buy first for RB.

HillingdonFFC

Know next to nothing about Joe Scally but a mate works with an American guy who is football mad. He said he's pretty average and Fulham could do a lot better

I really don't buy the Scally link for a couple of reasons. 1) He's not an improvement on what we already have and 2) it comes from a pretty unreliable source and reads to me like someone lazily rehashing an old rumor because we've been linked to a number of RB's this summer.

Benfica are keen on English defender Tosin Adarabioyo, 28, who has slipped down the pecking order at Chelsea.

Tosin was never up the pecking order at Chelsea tbh - he's been the same player for them as he was for us, but just carried by better players.

True, i just was surprised that Marco would recommend him to Benfica.

I'm surprised Marco hasn't tried to buy any of his Fulham players

For most of his squad, our players were too old perhaps?

Also, remember, Benfica put a failed low bid in for Cuenca, who today looked pretty good in the Stuttgart game imo.

EXCL: Fulham opened talks with Atalanta for Raoul Bellanova as new right back.

He's under consideration among options at #FFC and talks have now started, with more clubs also keen in Italy and abroad.
