A different perspective

Without all the 'Marco Silva out' nonsense, thought I'd try to put something in a much different perspective, rather than just shouting the obvious to the forum.

At some point, we are going to lose Marco Silva, now, or in a couple of seasons time, if he signs a new deal.

However, after West Ham, Southampton and now today, I'm finally convinced he won't be.

Why?

His body language has been completely different / off second half of this season, he doesn't seem as passionate as he once did.

When questioned in interviews about a new deal, he becomes agitated a bit, shy's away from the conversation, or talks in riddles about how he's helping the club prepare for the next season, blah, blah, without giving any definite answer.

A few of our better players have fallen off a cliff, not just the team, as if within the last few weeks or so, they've been told something about his future.

I could just be a conspiracy theorist, but in football, you just get a feeling sometimes, I had it with Roy when he left for Liverpool.

I don't think Marco Silva has a team lined up, I think he will leave in the summer, and will get picked up by another Premier League or European side that fancies a change.

The problem we have, is that I think the club are to frightened to lose him, but are hanging on to lost cause at this point.

Yes, West Ham, Southampton and today v Forest were awful performances, and should be called out, but are just not in Fulham's or Marco Silva's DNA, which has convinced me something is afoot.

Yeah, I agree with all of that. Also think Marco thinks he's better than he actually is and he may find the grass on the other side of the fence isn't as green as he thought it was.

You may well be right. I dare say we will find out soon if you are. I will always be grateful that he has been our gaffer for these past five seasons, regardless of his decision.
Any fool can criticise, condemn and complain, and most fools do.

Absolutely, he's given us stability. Just frustrated with the way the last year has played out and his apparent disinterest to grow with the club.

Most of those posts are mocking
Marco's stalker.

So you are doing it for "reaction" then?

I can't think of any other reason to be honest.

Can't see him here next year and with the poor displays and halves of football we've had far to often this season, a new manager is what we need

Wouldn't be surprised if the Chairman's people are looking and talking to replacements and the offer on the table for Marco is withdrawn at the end of the season.

I thought Iwobi looked disinterested yesterday, which for the first time made me seriously believe that Silva is indeed off. Of course causation is not correlation and all, but there is no denying that there is serious lull in the team right now - and with european places still to play for - I can't think of another reason as to why the players seem so demotivated.

It's just so disappointing how such a promising season has fizzled out in the space of three games which on paper we should have won. Assuming Marco is off at the season, where do we go from here? I'm still sceptical that we will attract a better manager.

Think I posted recently that it's his prerogative to maintain some sort of ambiguity whilst he negotiates his renewal. It'll hardly help his negotiating position if he says he's determined to stay at all costs and has no plan B.

However as the season fizzles and we look set for a finish that barely meets basic expectations with this squad, I have to say it's all wearing a little thin.

Think the club just have to say, sign by the end of this month or we'll start making offers to your potential replacements for a 1 July start date.

Either that or just don't renew him at all.

His performance doesn't really justify much effort to keep him at this point.

Maybe his mood has changed because SK has withdrawn the offer of a new contract. Who knows?

The silence is certainly deafening and I read it in the same way. I love Marco as a manager but wont miss this will he wont he game.

Apologies on my end for the aggro yesterday. Its frustration built up over months of seeing the same negativity, but let me be clear that well thought out posts, critical or not, were not the target of my outburst. I should have made that a lot clearer at the time.

I think he is out. Even if he has not explicitly stated such for club and players I think his mind is somewhat set on a new challenge and the only tiny opening that he has left mentally open is Fulham offering him top 4 manager money. And deep inside he knows something like that is not gonna happen so although he might be all "we're still negotiating" in public i think he has checked out of the club mentally.
Now, I will always be thankful for the way he stuck with the club and stabilized us. But because of the last uninspired, tepid matches that has given me massive PTSD from Parkerball comparisons alone i think it's time we part ways. We are, at this very moment, the least daring, most slow moving, overly complicated for no reason, and most back pass heavy team that I can think of. It's like he scares his players from making a smart run, making a progressive pass, taking that shot on goal. As if he consistently reminds them all to "stop believing in yourself".

Maybe time for a change but I still feel MS should stay on, if he wants to, if only for the sake of continuity and knowing the club very well.  That said, if he's not here next season, so be it, wouldn't bother me a bit.  I'm sure there are other quality coaches out there that can do a job with FFC.

perry geyton

I thought Jim had some kind of contact from deep inside the club as I seem to remember from a few months back

Shoot em a text Jim

Ask em about Harry too

I have no idea whether he is staying or going. None of us do. The Khans might know but they are not telling us. Time will tell and the clock is definitely ticking louder and louder.
However there is one fundamental difference about the club now compared to most of the previous Khan managerial appointments. Thanks to them and Marco we are now an established mid table Premiership club. That makes us a far more attractive option for all but the very elite managers. Doesn't mean they'll get any new appointment right but I would wager it is more likely now that they do compared to any time before
