Is 57 Points Enough For Europe

If we play like yesterday for Bournemouth (H) Wolves (A) and Newcastle (H) that's 9 points.

We played with much more press and urgency yesterday which was great. Previous weeks that TC cross would have been a foot on the ball, stop, recycle etc and killed the momentum, great to see us not do that.

The above gives 57 point with the option of something from Arsenal.

Is Europe back on, and how many places are up for grabs?

SuffolkWhite

I believe we have 8 points from the last five games, I think? Yesterday was Fulhamish all over, typical of this team. I thought 55 points might be enough depending places and just scrabbling a Conference league place, but who knows. More than anything I'm just glad we turned up and put in a better performance.

All to play for COYW

Yeah, 57 points should do it, particularly if we can get all three points from Bournemouth who are competing with us for Europe.

Brentford have got to play both Citeh and Man U.

Bournemouth and Everton still have Man City.

Chelsea still have to play Liverpool.

Brighton have the easiest run in IMO.

We've still got Arsenal, Bournemouth and Newcastle. Hopefully Wolves are on the beach for us.

Could be an interesting last month.

With both Sunderland and Everton slipping and both Chelsea and Brentford struggling, if we draw with Arsenal and win the last 3 we might just squeak through, our goal difference is a problem and could see us get jumped if another side draws level, just need other results to go our way starting with Man U beating Brentford
If it wasn't for the medication I,d be chewing on your skin

Let's not speak of Europe because Fulham being Fulham, we might get disappointed again

Interestingly we've only lost two out of our last seven pl games, against Liverpool and West Ham.

Our away form isn't the best, but our home form is much better..

We play arsenal away, which most would wisely not count us getting anything from.

Our Bournemouth and Newcastle games are both at home, which arguably slightly tilt those games in our favour.. Newcastle also struggling to get results at the moment.

Wolves is away but their form is hit and miss there though actually better than iexpected having won 2 and drawn 1 of their last six at molineux.

Crazy how tight the league is.

Arsenal v Fulham, Bournemouth v Man City, Everton v Man City and Brentford v Man City basically nullify each other.. as it's doubtful anyone will get anything from those.

Fulham v Bournemouth is now a huge game for Europe. Definitely in the must not lose category.

So it's a three game shootout as far as I'm concerned, Brighton still have Man U on the last day so that could be tricky too.

Palace are on the beach already and have Europe as their primary focus, Newcastle really have diddly squat to play for either after last night.

Spurs v Everton on the last day could be a blockbuster for both ends of the table.

The blahblahman

Arsenal we could get something but 0pts
Bournemouth 1pt but 3 would be great
Wolves must win 3pts
Newcastle must win 3pts. 7pts total 55pts overall. Could be enough 🤞

Fair assessment.

Interestingly, for all the doom and gloom on this board about performances and uncertainty around Marco and Harry, if you had said at any other time in our PL history that we'd still be in with a chance of Europe with 4 games to go and just two points off 6th, and 6 points off equalling our best ever points tally, most fans would've taken it, thought we'd have had a pretty good season.. just goes to show how weird the dynamics are in the league at the moment.

hopper

It's not inconceivable, but to me feels unlikely. We'd need to put in 4-5 good performances in a row (including yesterday's game), which we haven't done this season.

Would be fantastic if we can keep up that desire and intensity. I find we're at our best when we have something to prove, and then drop off a little.

SuffolkWhite

The way we have been playing but still getting to where we are in the league is surprising to me, but with four cup finals left, let's go for it.

I suppose it's because everyone is playing as inconsitently as we are

It was just a week ago that you were saying after the Brentford game that there was "zero chance of Europe". Now after one win and a week later you're wondering how many points we might need to get into Europe.

Strange old world.

57 gets us in easy, but getting 9 points from the games you outlined is incredibly difficult.

Is two home wins and a win against a relegated Wolves that difficult thou?

I am not really religious but i think
 i am witnessing an actual
 Damascene moment here.

Hatch007

The most Fulhamish thing ever would be to beat Arsenal, thus shattering their title hopes again, beat Bournemouth and then f it up at Wolves 🤦
