Quote from: Mullers OG on June 01, 2024, 07:39:29 PMI don't understand why some supporters are upset with Tosin. He signed a contract and has fulfilled it. There's been no suggestion he's caused any trouble. Having come to the end of the contract it is entirely up to him to choose his next club in order to try to enhance his career and life. I am sad he's leaving as he has been a good influential player at the Cottage but wish him well wherever he ends up.

I tend to agree. I bet most of us have resigned from a job to better ourselves elsewhere. Tosin, like most players, was on a mutually agreed fixed term contract which he fulfilled. Now he's perfectly entitled to move on.

Whether he's made the right choice and whether he's as good as he thinks he is; those are different matters and only time will tell.

Could be amazing. My main concerns are around his fitness and cost, but ESR is definitely an exciting prospect for us.

Edit: if we do speak with Arsenal, I also think Nketiah, Nelson, Viera and Lokonga should be available and any of those would add a lot to our team (as well as drag the avg age down) too...

Nelson is one we've supposedly tracked a number to times before.

I agree I'd love ESG, he has a seriously high ceiling potential....although that's big competition for Periera and he'll likely want some promises of game time. At a hefty price tag it's a lot on a position that we already have a fair bit of cover in with Cairney/Iwobi/BDR etc. Certainly could be a step up on all of them if he comes good so Im all for it providing there's still room in the budget to enhance the pressing positions. Like CB and LW for a start.

He played a fair bit on the left for Arsenal but his best position is a number 10. I think he would be an amazing signing, it has to be for the right price though

Would love ESG, a proper rumours that. The Telegraph is usually a good source too, and then claiming ESG is a priority signing is also an indication that there is something besides just a rumours.

Would like to get Nelson too but I doubt we can afford to get both this summer as we need to strengthen our back four

Stuart Armstrong at 32?
Would be a very strange move.

Not sure how I feel about this if true. 30mil a huge chunk of money for someone who is probably less proven than Muniz

No disrespect to Muniz who had a fabulous purple patch towards the end of the season but NKetiah is up another level personally. In today's market that figure looks to good to be true but fear others would be in front of us for his signature. Having said that I think you get Broja cheaper and would not be disappointed to see him sign permanently.

If we got him and ESR I'd be very excited. With 19 goals and 5 assist in 44 games worth of actual playing time in the prem Nketiah has a pretty good record considering he's only been a bit part player. Still only just turned 25. Can hold the ball up but quicker and gives a different option to Muniz and between them surely goals and great competition up front. He was poor at the cottage in the last match but Marco could really get something out of him I think. Looks like he is on £100k a week however so very expensive for transfer fee plus wages unless he took a drop for more first team football.

More excited about ESR however if he can stay fit if we can pull it off. 10 goals and two assists in 21 games of playing time a few years ago in the prem before injuries. Can play 10 or left and gives us exactly what AP doesn't or can gradually take over from Willian if he stays or replace him now if he goes. Only on £40k a week at the mo so not ridiculous for salary.

£50 million for the pair would be pretty good business I think.

I think Nketiah is a good player, but I'm just not convinced he's a good use of £30m.

Maybe a try before you buy loan could work though - a £7.5m loan fee and £22.5m option (even if it is just to motivate Muniz - a "Broja", if you will)?

My issue with Nketiah is he doesn't have any one thing he is outstanding at. Not his finishing, his hold up play, aerial strength, runs off the ball. ESR hasn't looked the same since his injuries so hard to say if he's worth going for or not.

Luton Town defender Teden Mengi is on the radar of Fulham, Crystal Palace and Bayer Leverkusen, as detailed in a report by The Mirror.

Luton Town are expected to face a battle to keep hold of the centre-back this summer following their relegation from the Premier League. He joined the Hatters last year following their promotion from the Championship.

Mengi, 22, impressed for the Bedfordshire outfit in the last campaign and is one of their most prized assets now. He caught the eye despite the fact they ended up in the bottom three along with Burnley and Sheffield United.

In this latest update regarding his future by The Mirror, Fulham, Crystal Palace and Leverkusen are all believed to be admirers ahead of the upcoming transfer window.

Mengi remains under contract at Luton Town for next term so they are under no pressure to cash in on him.

He has proved to be a shrewd signing by the Hatters and has adapted well to life at Kenilworth Road.

The Mancunian proved he is capable of playing at the top level and could be thrown a lifeline by either Fulham or Crystal Palace.

He started his career at Manchester United and rose up through the academy ranks of the North West giants.

Mengi was a regular for the Red Devils at various different youth levels before going on to play twice for their first-team.

The ex-England youth international had loan spells away in the Football League at Derby County and Birmingham City to get some experience under his belt.

He then left Old Trafford permanently last year and has since made Luton Town his home.

I agree with your analysis but I don't see how as Fulham were ever going to be signing a player (especially from a big club) with 'outstanding' attributes.

I can only really think of two players in recent years who have had that. Joao (tackling, possibly the best we've ever seen at it for FFC) and Mitro (heading). Both of those players were valued in excess of 50m last summer plus were approaching 30 years old

We're not in a position to be signing that kind of player with FFP restrictions unless we are ahead of the market and unearth a gem

Mengi would be good. Didn't think he'd be allowed to leave, but would be great if we can bring him in.

If we are interested, buy Mengi and loan Luton De Fougerolles or more likely McAvoy.  The latter a promising  CB whose coming back from injury curtailed loan at Partick Thistle last season.
