A retirement home for ageing footballers wanting to make one last megabuck, except this time it creates them multi multi generational wealth.

Still I don't know anyone actively watching the football regularly there so I wonder how sustainable it is long term or if it will continue to grow in popularity. All just seems a bit soulless from the outside.

Precisely this Jay, couldn't agree more. Wonder what the standard would be like compared to MLS, I'd guess slightly less good?
I cannot see how it'll grow in popularity however. Seems doomed to failure IMO. Probably part of some underhand bid to get a world cup soon.

They've already got the World Cup in 2034

Okay so would everyone be happy if we were to secure the following names- presuming fees are reasonable:

- Emile Smith Rowe
- Eddie Nketiah
- Gabriel Sara
- Trevoh Chalobah
- Ryan Sessegnon

I think you are looking at about £90m for those players combine. Sessegnon is in a free transfer, if wages were reasonable he would provide a solid option if Robinson were injured and competition for the wide left forward position.

And only losing Tosin and the odd squad player? Over the moon. But I can't see us getting Sara and possibly Nketiah. Both will think they can do better than us I think sadly but I've no doubt we can get similar calibre of players abroad.

No to Nketiah because he doesn't really offer very much, especially at the price quoted. It's almost worth buying someone from outside the PL at half the price and taking the risk they're going to end up having a bigger impact. We'd also still need a left back and another CB as per Silva's comments and spending the best part of £90m before you've factored in wages would be eating into the pot quite heavily. You've also not got a specialist LW listed there which we deffo need, ESR plays predominantly centrally as an attacking mid (only 18 appearances in the PL as a left midfielder rather than winger).

Agreed.  Nice post.

Sorry but Sess is not cover for Robinson. Sess has never been able to tackle and defend properly, just great going forward.

Exactly, injuries aside, I think one of the reasons he's not more highly regarded are because spurs have tried to play him as a wingback for goes time there - he was always best for us high up the pitch and, ideally, in the area almost as a left forward.

In the right deal I'd have him back, but he's not a defender and shouldn't be considered as any sort of cover for Jedi

Wolf

I don't like ESR.

Realistically, Sessegnon could not play LB in the PL, he would only be signed as a LW.

I really like the Sess rumour.

Someone that knows the place, the setup and what we offer. Yes, he's gone off the boil - but we know what he's capable of.

We've got a great track record of rejuvenating careers and providing someone with stability.

Sess' movement in the final third is excellent - and he knows he's made a mistake by leaving, he's better in a front 3 and relatively low risk.

Given how many outgoings we have this summer, someone on a free with potential resale value feels like a great option.

Get him in early, and get him a full pre-season feels like a no brainer.

Leaving it late, and missing out on pre-season would be a big mistake as he'll have less impact and miss the start of the season.

I would be well happy but I would be without Sess (although great if we get him on a contract that suits us) and I don't think he's going for a midfielder if we don't lose anyone there. He also said he might want two centre backs.

This would do me from the big rumours so far:

- Emile Smith Rowe £20 mil
- Eddie Nketiah £30 mil
- Trevoh Chalobah £25 mil
- Morato £20 mil

That is £95 mil but hopefully negotiate a few for a bit less with add ons so maybe £90 mil.

So many options if you got those 4 and all bring average age down significantly. Even if Willian went I think we'd have enough....

Morato played left back loads for Benfica so although we still have Ream for one more year him and Bassey are left back cover for Robinson as well as centre half so that is covered and then already replaced Ream next year.

Smith Rowe can play 10 or left. Also got Iwobi and Stansfield who can play left so covered even if Willian leaves.

I wouldn't be surprised if we got Nketiah that Raul would go to Mexico as Silva has said Stansfield will be with us and he sees him mainly as a striker. As mentioned before Nketiah has 19 goals and 5 assists in 45 prem games of actual playing time. We could go for someone like Pavlidis for £25 million but nothing proven in the prem. looks at Beto for £25 million. Not sure who everyone who thinks he is useless despite that record thinks we are going to get for less. Strikers are ridiculously expensive and I'd take nearly a goal every other game for £30 million.

Chalobah looked brilliant a few years ago and Chelsea fans seem to be gutted he's going so seems like a solid option.

All young and all a load of prem experience apart from Morato but all with a huge point to prove which has of course gone well for us before. All should improve us dramatically if Marco gets them ticking.

Prob get none of them but I'd be well excited for next year if we pulled it off.

Arsenal want more than £30m for Smith-Rowe. Can't imagine we go for that. We'll offer £20m and if no other club pays up maybe we'll raise our bid to £22m on deadline day.

I mean, they can ask, and we can hold our position and if someone feels like paying those sums, we'll likely lose out which I'm content with to be honest. But if no one comes in, later in the window, maybe Arsenal will re access.

Doubt they'll get it with his recent injury record. Maybe £25 mil.

I wouldn't be surprised to see £20m deal with £10m in add ons. £5m in achievable add ons and another £5m if he becomes a top class player- which I personally think he could be. We have a great track record of turning around players careers, so I think the move works all round.

Heavy on add ons would be the way to go given his injury history.

Should we really have two 20 m LCBs? Surely money should be spent on a RCB?

Chalobah is the right, Morato is the left. To be honest I was surprised when Silva said it having given Ream an extension but said he prob wants 2 this summer. Would defo have to recruit next year as doubt we extend Ream again but if we have the FFP room and someone like Morato who is very highly rated is available and who with Bassey can cover left back it makes sense I think.

Ream to MLS. The links the left footed CBs and Marco's comments about signing 2 are put into context with this.

Maybe we get a fee but doubt it's more than 1m if we do.

Not surprised. Bet he thought he'd play more this year and realised Bassey is just too good. Not the kind of guy to sit there and just take a wage. Absolute legend.
