Would be a slightly odd one, as he doesn't seem to be excelling in Brazil, but maybe our scouts saw something whilst over there.

I suspect this is just his agent drumming up value/interest, as he seems to have more flashy edits on YouTube than he has minutes on the pitch...

Currently having a standout Copa America by all accounts and been decent for Palmeiras too. He made 37 appearances in Serie A (Brazil's top division) last season and well into double figures this year as well

Not disagreeing with you at all: I don't watch the Brazilian league, so only have stats to go off.

Last season Rios had 37 league appearances (20 starts), averaging 50 minutes per appearance and was awarded an average rating of 6.72 per appearance on WhoScored. This season he's made 7 league appearances so far (5 starts), averaging 63 minutes per appearance and an average rating of 6.74 per appearance on WhoScored. In the Copa America, he made 5 appearances (5 starts), averaging 72 minutes per appearance and an average rating of 6.90 per appearance on WhoScored.

By comparison, Andre made 31 league appearances last season (29 starts), averaging 85 mins per appearance and an average rating of 7.04 on WhoScored. This season he's made 5 appearances so far (5 starts), averaged 90 mins per appearance, and achieved an average rating per appearance of 7.16 on WhoScored. Andre did not play for Brazil in the Copa America.

Again, not disagreeing at all, but the stats (and I fully acknowledge the limitation of stats alone!) seem to suggest Rios isn't a key player for his team in the way that Andre is for his.

could be another player if Andre doesn't come in.

Rios is more 8 than 6 so I don't think one affects the other that much.

McBrideOfFrankenstein

It's blatant recency bias but I like the idea of signing someone from that Columbia team. They can ball and Rios has looked tricky. Not sure he can defend but hope so?

These player rumours are getting more ridiculous by the day. Brazilian's , Columbian's, Turk's , Serbian's and the only thing happening at Motspur Park is Sue the tea lady has put the kettle on.

We already have 1 in Devan Tanton.

We need right back cover and Devan may be the ideal filler. Fast and he can certainly cross a ball and could get his chance in pre-season friendlies.

Agree about rumours. I imagine in 10 years time Andre will be our modern Jason Koumas.

We don't really need RB cover though. We have Castagne, Tete and Mbabu is still under contract until he gets sold/loaned. Do see Tanton as a future squad player and I think he would really benefit from a loan to a League One or Championship side this season with an eye to replacing Tete in the first team next season if it goes well assuming Tete doesn't want to renew which seems to be the case.

R.Bs we collect them don't we,castagne can play on the left side as well.

Given Willian hasn't signed up, BDR has left and most of our wingers are injury prone, I would have thought a LW has #1 priority, and RCB our #2 priority. We need a DM, but it won't kill us if we wait till deadline day for a DM and getting the wrong DM will ruin this team.

Newcastle reportedly wants to sell Wilson, and if Footballinsider are to be believed, they are open to selling him for about 11 mil.

If it were to be true, I wouldnt mind us having a go. Think he would be a perfect for us. Very underrated goalscorer and would really provide Muniz with competion but also be a good mentor for the Brazilian. A nice little 2-3 yr deal. And if Muniz isnt grabbing the goals, Wilson surely would

The upside is that he has a very decent scoring record. In addition he knows the Prem. Downside, putting aside surgery in Feb he is 32 - but5/10 goals may make it a wise investment

Great finisher, but high wages and someone that has really missed a lot of football due to injuries.

I'd probably avoid that one. We have an experienced striker option for next year in Raul.

Raul Jimenez got 5-10 goals last season, cost less than half of that and people still want him replaced.

You can't just keep piling up 5-10 goal strikers expecting them all to score 5-10 goals, they need to be on the pitch as well. I'd say that Jimenez might be a better mentor for Muniz as well.

hovewhite

Raul and muniz if they add 20 goals jointly then a striker isn't a priority over a RCB and a left winger.

Alan Nixon also reckons that despite Sheffield United's asking price for Vinicius Souza, he'll likely go for circa £15m+ add ons

Morato LCB who can cover LB world be suprised if we went back in for him given we have Bassey. Most of our cb funding will surely be spent on RCB

Well we do need another LCB at some point Given Ream isn't getting any younger, so if he's the player we want and he's suddenly cheaper then maybe not a surprise if we did buy him
