Alan Nixon confirming bid in for Stanno, says it needs to be higher. £6m is a bit of a joke in the current climate but dont see how they have the budget for the sort of bid id hope wed hold out for. Can only imagine if we sanctioned such a deal we'd be about to splurge some serious money about on our top targets. Id like stansfield to come good but concede that he hasnt quite stepped up yet when hes had his oppurtunities before, I have some questions but am rooting for this year to be one he breaks out. Would like to see him in pre season and see how he gets on.

Selling Stanno will go against what Silva has explicitly said publicly. If he goes, huge questions need to be asked how much power and authority Silva has - and how long he wants to deal with being undermined.

Aware we don't know the full details for what is going on behind the scenes but really doesn't look great from what is being reported. 

All reports say the difference in value is 5 million euros so £4.2m. I'm always defending the club for squeezing every penny out of a transfer for FFP but this is getting ridiculous. It's pretty much fact we have been chasing him for 3 windows. Pretty undisputed that Ali Mac went there personally. Their president said we have bid 10 days ago last week, they advised what they are selling him for and they haven t heard back since. What kind of urgent negotiation is that when this is such a key position that needs filling.

The whole point is are we actually going to knock this £4.2 million off the fee to make all these delays worthwhile? He is cheap anyway at £25 million and they are not going to let their prized asset go for peanuts. Sounds like he wants to go to the prem but also that he loves Fluminese and isn't going to do a Joao or Mitrovic to make it abundantly clear that he wants out so no pressure on them to sell. Seems like it is us that have changed the goal posts offering less than all previous reports in previous windows. I can only assume that as no one else now seems to be serious with Liverpool dropping out we think we can push them around. We should just count ourselves lucky they have gone as if not we'd have no chance. If someone more attractive swoops in last minute and we lose him the fan base is going to go into complete meltdown and to be fair not sure I would be saying anything against that on this one. For once just pay up for a very reasonable fee or at least frigging talk to them to negotiate paying something in the middle. All of this could have been done and in place before Joao left and we're now weeks since he has gone. Not great.

This guy isn t like buying a McTominay on deadline day. He is young and will need time to get up to prem speed so is one that needs to be in early. Come on Fulham just sort this one out if nothing else this week just to stop us losing our minds.

Andre is going to get done, I will put a lot of money on that. I think ESR will also get done, later down the line. Summerville is an interesting link - personally don't think we will bite for him. He was one who was spoken about in depth over the weekend. Jury seemed out.

Was surprised to see West Ham linked with him recently, thought he'd be looking at a bigger move than that. But if that's the level I'd love to see us in for him - his playing style is pretty Willian-esque

Liverpool have been in for him, if he didn't get that injury he likely would be playing for either us (had it all gone to plan with Joao) or them. He is a talent. However, on the fee, FLU think his price should be what was agreed/close to agreed in Jan. We (unanimously) think he is worth less due to the injury. I think that is fair enough, and we are right to fight it. This is the sort of money which unlocks ESR later on...

It was only us and Wolves that had any particular interest in Joao and look how that turned out. He is so highly rated over there. Was higher rated than Joao Gomes who has been class for Wolves and has tripled in value. Half of Europes top teams were reportedly interested but most either have a DM (Endo has done well for Liverpool) now or are limited budgets (Spain). No guarantees in football and I think if we get him May take half a season to get used to the prem but for the reported fee we are unlikely to be losing out.

Main thing is Marco and the club are clearly interested in him as per confirmed offers and Ali Mac going there. Re the injury if it's not 100% we shouldn't be signing him. If it is 100% I don't see why it changes the fee much. His injury record prior to the recent one is brilliant I believe. He played 60 games last season and 57 if looking at 90's played.

As commented above, if it's a minor one-off injury it shouldn't affect his value. If it's serious/recurring, he's not the answer at any price.

Also if the difference between us is c. £4m as reported, that doesn't unlock any other business.
Unless they're asking for £50m+, this does not affect a deal for ESR.

Was a knee injury kept him out for over 2 months, not sure on the full details of the injury but they can be buggers to sort out. Cairney took a while to get back to full form after his i seem to remember.

I do not mind playing hard ball on prices as a rule as otherwise you get shafted sometimes or pop else think your a walkover. We negotiated hard for Leno so maybe we are getting some back bone in incomings and outgoings.

Hopefully we get this deal done at a proce that suits us and them, but I wouldn't haggle too long as at the end of the day it isnt much money in the scale of things

Bang on, and it again raises the question of what is the point of the academy. Elliott, Roberts, Stansfield, Carvalho, O'Riley all gone for a pittance.

Roberts didn't go for a pittance at the time. Carvalho did, but it still paid for our investment in him and many more and gave us more FFP wiggle room. Elliott likewise went for an insultingly low amount, but still enough to pay for the academy and then some.

Stansfield is still here, by the way, and of course we won't sell him if Silva doesn't green light it.

You also seem to have forgotten Sessegnon, one of our biggest sales ever, on top of three years of service as a first team player. Likewise, Carvalho, Rodak and more have been important first team members at various points.

I believe it is crystal clear that the academy has so far been very beneficial to us.

While I also feel the pain of some mentioned leaving at the end of their contracts I wholeheartedly agree with the post above, our academy is brilliant asset.

Smalling 10 mil
Sessegnon 25 mill
Roberts 10 mill
Carvalho - 5 mill possibly rising with a sell on.

Taking the lower fees above is 50 mill.

And that's 50 million almost pure profit, we didn't buy these players, yes we coached and paid their minor wages for a few years but putting a figure of let's say 5 mill for all that and your made 45 million quid to spend on pro players (who may also then bring a profit on resale)

We are not a massive club like Liverpool and I'm sure their history of selling youth isn't too dissimilar to ours. Maybe a little more regular for Liverpool the fees hitting 20 mill.

The issue with Knees is you never know if they have fully recovered - that is the reason for our hesitancy.

As for Chalobah himself even with this happening I suspect he may see himself higher than us but depends who comes in for him. Pretty stupid from Chelsea's point of view as surely drives his price down. They've gone from having a player that wants to stay to one that prob hates the way he's been treated and will want out knowing he's getting no game time. Chelsea have shown their hand and have shown the are desperate to offload. This is more a situation (vs Andre) that I would negotiate the hell out of if other clubs aren't interested putting the price up.

I doubt he'll want to be sat there not even in match day squads for 3 years. That would be career over. Sure he will want to be playing and any club will be paying him £2.6 million a year for salary as only £50k a week. Reportedly we offered Tosin £100k a week to stay. Bound to go now. Whether it's to us or not depends who comes in for him. Man U seemed to be very interested but they have just spent a lot on a new CB I believe so that is them prob out.
