Quote from: Cottages on July 22, 2024, 04:51:20 PMFLU think his price should be what was agreed/close to agreed in Jan. We (unanimously) think he is worth less due to the injury. I think that is fair enough, and we are right to fight it. This is the sort of money which unlocks ESR later on...

Struggling to understand this take, sorry.

As commented above, if it's a minor one-off injury it shouldn't affect his value. If it's serious/recurring, he's not the answer at any price.

Also if the difference between us is c. £4m as reported, that doesn't unlock any other business.
Unless they're asking for £50m+, this does not affect a deal for ESR.
Was a knee injury kept him out for over 2 months, not sure on the full details of the injury but they can be buggers to sort out. Cairney took a while to get back to full form after his i seem to remember.

I do not mind playing hard ball on prices as a rule as otherwise you get shafted sometimes or pop else think your a walkover. We negotiated hard for Leno so maybe we are getting some back bone in incomings and outgoings.

Hopefully we get this deal done at a proce that suits us and them, but I wouldn't haggle too long as at the end of the day it isnt much money in the scale of things

If we are being honest the knee injury should probably increase his value rather than decrease it assuming no long term damage. Beginning of the season, Fluminense were underperforming but mid table then when he was out injured, they were the worst team in the league and now that he's back their form has improved drastically.

He has an enormous positive impact when he plays and I really hope we get this done.

Unfortunately, I think the Stanno link to B'Ham has legs. Are the Khan's thinking of selling up? Starting to quietly think that to myself...

Quote from: demeant0r on July 22, 2024, 08:36:15 PMIs Jota Silva a LW or RW?

He is a right footed winger that mostly plays on the left.

No it hasn't.  Unless a league 1 side can stump up £30 million

He is a right footed winger that mostly plays on the left.

Last season he played 20 on the right scoring 9 and assisting 6. Left wing 6 played with 3 goals and one assist. Centre forward 12 games as well with 3 goals. Career more on the right but a tonne on the left as well. We need left really but looks like he can truly play across the front three and being right footed we know how Marco loves inverted wingers. Passing stats are poor, carries and take ons decent but not amazing. Goals very high for a winger and defensively very high so must work hard.

At that price in this market if true looks like he could really add something.

That sounds like a perfect Marco signing. He's Portuguese as well so should fit in well.

Strange, one minute your spouting off how much you know about club meetings and what's been said and the next you apparently know nothing.

Craven Mad

£6m for a 21 year old English striker with - a better-than-xG - 12 goals in his first Championship season, despite playing for a relegation team, and 3 years remaining on his contract? Not a chance.

He's easily a £15m-£20m player with 40%+ sell-on fee.

Only worth getting worked up about it if it happens but would be suprised if it were indeed anything under 10m if at all.

Till then we've all sound how 99% of reports are nonsense anyway.

Kicking back and seeing what happens while enjoying the silly season circus.

Que sera

I don't want to detract from bringing posters like this to the forum as its silly season and its what makes it fun but I do find a lot of the ITK accounts from prior years quite funny. It's the air of 'I have insider knowledge  ::wink::  ::wink:: ' to 'Corr blimey, whats going on, this all took a turn didn't it!.  ::tongue::

If people just came on and went 'Saw this online' or 'heard from a guy I know at the club but its early days' etc etc I think no stick would be given......But come on....this ITK has gone from claiming he knows about secret transfer meetings to selling Jay Stansfield to Birmingham equating to ulterior motives by our clubs owners to wanting to sell up  :slap:

This really is silly season, back with a bang.  ::wine::

Go back and read page one,

A lot of predictions are looking good, the how many pages until someone blames TK made me chuckle.

Not sure on this but 93 pages without a single singing yet has got to be close if not the record on here 🤣

There has been plenty of singing on here. You just haven't seen the right thread. Some great songs and tracks. Sod all on this page I grant you.
The above IS NOT A LEGAL DOCUMENT. It is an opinion.

We may yet hear the horse talk.

I can stand my own despair but not others hope

I hate it to break it to you

But last year it was 120 pages till we had Romano confirming Jiminez 🙈💀 that was on 25th July 2023

Still 27 pages to go to match that record! We can do it!!!

P. S was a laugh reading through last year's threas... one guy was saying theyd rather sign shirley bassey than Calvin and was flabbergasted at how we went from " thoroughbred" options like Ibanez (ended up at saudi club al alhi) ... To a "donkey" like Bassey... Lol

I can see where Cottages is coming from. We just seem a lot more efficient getting players out the door than in the door. I just said on another thread, our net spend since promotion as it stands, halfway into our third summer window, is £19m (based on Transfermarkt figures). We'd need to spend £200m this summer just to bring our net spend into line with Bournemouth's over the same period, a club which surely has even lower revenues than us. It raises the question.

Net spend is really not a great way to look at it. Fulham's wages in 22/23 were 140m, Bournemouth's were 100m and that would not be accounted for in net spend. The gap is likely larger in previous years as well which is why they have the ability to splash out more in the transfer market.

But for all their spend Bournemouth haven't drastically performed better than us so you could argue that our spend has been far more cost effective.
