Literally nothing on any centre backs as well. Hoping we are getting another Fulham out of nowhere hit soon on that front as if not incredibly quiet. The Sess effect is wearing off quickly.

So.....how many transfers do we expect by Sunday then? I'm predicting 2.

The Old Count

It's the same every year. Frustration piled on frustration as we try to squeeze the last drop out of the deal. I know we need to get the best deals possible but sometimes you're better off just coughing up.

The world is made up of electrons, protons, neurons, possibly muons and, definitely, morons.

Oh! lol. When I clicked, it just showed up an old Muniz agrees to join Fulham post from 2023 he had pinned!

Neymar close then!

I see it happen more when we have a so called "free run" at a player, it drags on even more as no one else is getting involved pressing us to act faster.

Andre to me just seems a very strange one. I believe the first bid we made for Andre was a loan to buy bid in 2022, I actually don't think his value changed much since then. Clearly the club have identified him as a talent and any complexities involving a deal with him the club should be well aware of since we've been after him for 2 years.

Perhaps they're trying to insert a high sell on like lots of Brazilian clubs do so that's why we want the price to be lower, but if we're trying to rebuild and really we need someone in his position before the season starts, we should really just bite the bullet and pay what it takes to get it done

Quote from: Jeroen on July 28, 2024, 10:26:23 PMDid we miss out on Plavidis? I know it's & buts but he was mentioned her a few times since December as striker from AZ.

Went to benfica for £18m which is cheap for a striker in todays market. Scored every preseason game so far and 2 within 15 min against feyenoord.

No real reports we were ever in for him. I was harping on about going for him for ages. Ridiculous goal scoring record and looked good against Villa last year. Either the club just didn't want him or may be he wanted champions league football etc. Shame as think he would have been good for us.
Its the same play as Gyokeres (who turned us down last year).

Agents telling the player don't go to the PL now, instead make a move to a smaller CL club on good money, then in a year you'll be sold on and get double the salary on a long term deal.

It is probably in the player's interest (if they prove themselves) but it is definitely driven by agents who see the prospect of two big signing fees.

I know it's frustrating but the counter to this would be the amazing deals we got over the last few years for Leno (£3mill rising to £8mill), Robinson, Tosin (both £1.5mill) etc.

Sometimes we haggle hard over players and (much less often) we pay the asking price pretty quick, as with the £17.6mill price we paid for Palhinha a few years back.

I think the reality is doing the former helps us do the latter and working hard on driving down the Andre deal in reality probably helps us pay the slightly inflated ESR deal etc. or meet our other targets

Quote from: C Block on July 29, 2024, 09:45:47 AMJust for some clarity, I read an article 3 or 4 weeks ago where it was stated that Fluminese wanted to keep Andre for two games in August,  one of which I'm sure was August 13th, when I read the article I thought,  "that's no good for us"
With each passing day/week I'm convinced that nothing will happen with regards to Andre until after August 13th,
Watch this space.

You may be right. It not entirely fanciful Fluminense's counter-proposal (which the Club President mentioned) was that we could sign Andre there and then for an extra however-many-million pounds, or they would hold on to him until mid-August and then do business with us at £25M.
