The dominoes will fall with this.

Question now.. implied conversations are suggesting we may have to sell Stansfield in order to get the difference between valuations for andré. Would you sell stansfield to make up the difference?

I'm not sure I would without a buy back option at the very least for a relatively minimal fee. I think stansfield has the ability to be a generational talent. Everyone says he's special.

Quote from: Cottages on July 30, 2024, 10:25:22 PMThe Stanno thing has been ongoing for longer than the press has caught on sadly. I do think that he has an appetite to play week in week out, which is a real shame as I think he would have been a mainstay in the side in a year or two.

Re incomings Andre and McTom are not one or the other in our eyes apparently, we want both. For CBs, we are doing our usual method of spreading the net far and wide to negotiate the best terms with the top priorities. All part of the game which we have grown to love... or hate!

I can really see Andre and McT complimenting each other. McT definitely would work as an 8 with his late runs into the box and eye for goal but also will provide some cover (see the McFred double pivot a few years back).

I can see him and Andre basically being a hugely upgraded tactical equivalent of Lukic-Reed.

As for the CBs well no surprise there if true - we always seem to be linked to about 3 at any time lol.

What are the names this year beyond Chalobah and Mengi? Morato and also Oosterwolde. Can't remember if there are any others...

Quote from: LC on July 30, 2024, 09:31:19 PMMan City sold Liam Delap for £15m. Similar age to Stansfield, I would argue Stansfield's stats are better, so I fail to see how we would sell Jay for only £5m

Yeah, this is the thing I don't get with the reported price - and Delap was £15m with £5m in addons!

I can see a scenario where Silva is happy to let him go, and Jay wants to play first team football. But Birmingham in League 1 for £5/6m is peanuts in modern football, when he has another 3+1 years on his contract. I get the Championship isn't awash with cash - there are only a couple of signings in that ballpark this Summer (who weren't already obligations to buy) - but it would also make so much more sense for his development to push for a move to an ambitious Championship club rather than Birmingham.

There's definitely no smoke without fire, and Birmingham are definitely interested. It may also be we're actually putting the story out there to see what interest there is.

I'd keep stansfield and loan him out again to a newly promoted championship team or a team still in that league. Simply not worth selling for that price.

For those not aware, Dean is a Fulham supporter and also pretty well connected within the club and wider in his role as a journalist so this will definitely have truth behind it

Stanno for 5 mill doesn't make any sense to me. He will play in the Cups and have spot duty similar to what happened with Muniz IMO. If we do sell him then there had best be another ST coming in.

Deeply unhappy at the idea of selling Stansfield. I've been looking forward to seeing him play at the Cottage.

This is a real kick in the teeth to the supporters.

Worth asking Dean if there is any truth in the Stansfield rumours

Yeah, for me I feel like Stansfield seems to have the potential to be a generational talent. He strikes me as more developed than when Moussa Dembele came through, and he went on to play and do pretty well for Lyon, scoring between 15-21 goals in three seasons, helping them come 3rd, 7th and 8th in ligure 1 and also playing Champions League football. And that was after a stint with celtic where he won multiple cups and leagues.

For me either loan stansfield to a top championship team to help him consolidate his confidence and boost his numbers, or keep him at the club and start playing him.

I think he's probably a year or two off pushing for a starting place, but selling him seems very strange. He's a deeply motivated young man and has skill to boot.

Birmingham fans said they'd not seen a striker like Stansfield since they had Kevin Phillips in terms of knack for scoring and instinct and the kids still young. For Birmingham fans that's a big compliment. They do recognise talent, it wasn't too long ago they were chanting for Jude Bellingham.

Apparently Hull and Cardiff are in for stansfield too. Don't know of its for a loan or permanent deal. If a loan, send him to Hull who came 7th in the championship last season. He'll get game time, or get it put into the contract he has to.. they played Carvalho a lot last season and he did well for them. Stansfield would also be playing with Seri and maybe Cyrus Christie (though feel he may have left?).

Woolly Mammoth

It does not make sense to sell Stansfield at all.
He has the potential to be a very good player for Fulham.
Its not the man in the fight, it's the fight in the man.  🐘

it's yet again not playing them loan them out and sell them on awful policy whilst giving them away for peanuts.

Hopefully a regurgitated story from 7 or 8 weeks ago being pushed by a Birmingham reporter trying to keep their fans happy.

I mean, if the management don't think he is going to cut it or the lad is getting impatient then that is fair enough, there is no obsession with the guy for me.

But Silva openly said that he would be with the first team this season so I don't really understand the confliction here.

Yeh Ive always been rooting for Jay to make the step up, always been buzzing when hes come off the bench, but then hes never quite grabbed his chance at the top level to date. Even last pre season it was actually Godo who suprised as the more eye catching prospect out wide. Had hoped stansfield might get some gametime this year just cos cheering for ya youth prospect is always exciting, but he is still 3rd choice currently here and we only play 1 striker so his game time is likely gonna be very limited unless he does something insane in occassional bench minutes or pre season.
Possibly even to minutes off the bench in the cups.

Maybe he is the next coming of christ, I like the idea of it certainly but I can imagine for him the idea of going from award winning main man at brum to scrapping for 10mins here and there might be something he himself isnt overly keen on. Who knows really. If we loan him again hopefully its to a top champ club and he replicates or improves further his goalscoring and makes it undeniable that he deserves to be our number 2 option the next year. With all the "pure profit" crap with ffp now who knows what well decide.

Sitting tight, perhaps with friendlies coming up well get some comment on it from Marcos interviews.

Not fulham related but shows were not the only club who get shunned when the big boys come knocking for the youth

StuinSalop

Stansfield is not going to start any time soon for Fulham.  I would get Brum to stump up some decent cash for a loan again.  Next season Jimenez will be another year older and maybe Stanno can become no2 to Muniz.  Unless we get a bid of £10M plus, he should remain a Fulham player for now.   Having said all that, Marco will know far better than me and if the incoming fee for him means a way of recruiting starting players, then I will concede to others with more knowledge.

OZ-WHITE

Silva wants Stansfield to do the entire pre-season before Loans options are considered . He's not interested in Loan deals to make up numbers or injury cover , he needs Stansfield at a Club who is going to continue his development and give him game time .
If it wasn't for the medication I,d be chewing on your skin
