This is most likely it. I'm being a bit flippant/tongue in cheek.

Figured as much but thought I'd throw some context out there for the more cynical amongst us

Quote from: Cottages on July 30, 2024, 06:47:34 PMWe are waiting for FLU to take the money - was always likely to rumble on... still confident this gets done

I'll stop spamming the thread now, but I'm way less confident about this. Hope to be proven wrong though.

Maybe the McTominay bid was to put pressure on Fluminese?

Probably just realised there was a no-Nando's clause in his Fulham contract...

Austin signs for AFC Totton
Charlie Austin has signed for non-league club AFC Totton.

He will make his debut against Forest Green Rovers on Saturday.

The former Southampton and QPR striker has been without a club since leaving Swindon Town at the end of last season.

Austin, 35, has played over 500 times in a career spanning 14 years, scoring 200 times.

Personally I don't think this is the kind of "risk" we can be taking in our situation. If we were looking to upgrade a position I can understand us waiting, but we are looking for a replacement for an integral member of the squad. If he's the man we have identified as the replacement waiting around & risking another club getting involved is very worrying

Disgrace if this happens, especially at that sort of money.

Let's see. But the club might not think he has what it takes to make it at PL level and prefer to cash in now.

Jay Stansfield hasn't managed to break into the side and has been out on loan several times. I have no idea what is true but it seems as if with the possibility of players coming in he will be further down the list of possible first team players.
The above IS NOT A LEGAL DOCUMENT. It is an opinion.

We may yet hear the horse talk.

I can stand my own despair but not others hope

This word is overused, but I think if we sold our star academy graduate for such a derisory amount it is indefensible.

If you read this Tony, please end this rumour. You'd blow all the good feeling from Sessegnon's return overnight.

We'd have to have a buy back clause and a high sell on percentage clause to make it make sense. I can't believe he'd be sold for 5m regardless.

Presumably if we sold Jay it would be with the view to bringing in someone else up top so will reserve judgment till I see how it plays out.

I like the idea of Jay coming good here but he hasnt done anything at prem level yet any time hes had a chance so who knows what his ceiling is. Do think 5m is too cheap though

I find it strange that the wording Birmingham locked in talks over potential transfer? Even though he was there last season on loan surely if he has been told by Fulham he can leave for a certain price then his ambition must be higher than Birmingham currently? I would imagine there are a dozen or more teams in championship who would be interested in signing him or loaning him again if that was the case? Though it might be a record fee for Div one side surely teams in championship would be bidding higher? Still seems strange we might be considering selling him? I suppose the big question is can Silva use him with the likes of Wilson & Traore playing on the right? With Traore's injury record you would think so!

Interesting interview with leno. He appears to be trusting and believing in the process here so 🤞🏼
Team seems to be removing too much expectancy of set outcomes next year whilst being quietly confident they can push on.

Lighthouse

I don't understand the Stansfield obsession. I would think he would prefer first team football than another season on loan or hardly ever in the match day squad at Fulham. A good young player who deserves a chance to play in the Championship.

Maybe he really wants the move and is pushing for it specifically to brum, where he was a hero and he won all the awards plus their fans absolutely love him. Maybe he likes the idea of storming league one and continuing his hero status there as a guaranteed starter and a young upcoming striker.

Maybe its just b.s paper talk. Who knows.

Maybe, but Birmingha are not in the Championship.

Something doesn't feel right about this. Jay may not have been tested in the Prem yet but I cannot see us letting him go to Birmingham at that price. And didn't Marco say he intended to use him in the squad this season?

Linked to corinthians winger Wesley.

Though Forest have seemingly been pushing with stronger interest for a while now but havent tabled an acceptable bid yet leaving room for us and west ham.

Seems like a bit of a lazy link. But young (19) and plays mostly LW but can play across the front 3 apparently
