I'm getting overly excited for next season.

Apparently Ream isn't even in Portugal so definitely looks like his replacement. RCB still a big need.

This will be a Ream replacement. Quite confident we have 3 more transfers in us this window - Andre, Mctom, Mengi.

Really? Seems punchy. he played RCB at Villareal.

Just imagine if we did get Cuenca, ESR, Andre, McTominay and a RCB too.. If we got a RCB and it was Chalobah, that'd be best. Don't know much about Mengi, but doesn't look like we're going for young and inexperienced. Cuenca as a back up LCB (though has played RCB for Villareal) would be bold given he's started for Villareal for a majority of their season. I think he could be a RCB option.

Agreed, he'll probably have Diop out of the starting XI in no time if he can avoid making stupid mistakes.

Anybody else think that if the McTom rumour is true that if we make an offer that they accept it is likely to happen after the opening game?

Do you reckon he'd leave starting at Villareal who came 8th in La Liga to be backup to Bassey who joined last summer?

I'd be very suprised. As mentioned he played RCB at Villareal last season, so he may very well do that - and then you've got the versatility if Bassey gets injured, or Robinson does and we need to change plans.

The other consideration is that our new coach who came in for Boa apparently preferred a back 3/5 to play, so maybe we'll have a back three next season?

Would be a first.. But if we had Chalobah, Bassey and Cuenca, may make sense..? Though where would our forwards all go...?

Quote from: jayffc on July 26, 2024, 12:15:20 AMWest ham likely to press ahead with Summerville bid having missed out on Soule from juventus who went to Roma.

Think we might find it tough to bring him in if were even really interested.

25m andre
30m ESR
Probably 25 needed for chalobah
20m for oosterwolde

Thats 100m already.

So would probably need to sell Andreas if we had any intention of competiting for him. With Sess/ESR/Iwobi we probably dont need to drop that kinda money on another LW, especially of we also keep willian. Id love to sign him as would provide even more firepower  but cant see it happening

We are in talks with a Keeper as well as a RCB - both very left of field.

Happy with Cuenca, will fit in well. Believe he is left footed but has played RB and RCB in his youth. Promising player who, if hits the ground running, will make us very solid.

He played a few games at left back last season as well. So I think with Sess coming in we're well covered there now- the versatility of this team is pretty impressive.

Anyone know how much we've bid?

Fulham twitter seems to be posting every 30 mins on the dot. perhaps that's when ESR will be announced. Definitely being active and later then normal.

Quote from: Caedal on July 31, 2024, 06:55:18 PMWow that's literally out of nowhere. Another youngish player though who plays for a good team. Dont know anything about him, so we'll see
just to save a few pages:

He is probably a leftie
Injury prone
Is he limping?
Likes a lot of fast food
A little porky
Way too much money
Too small
Too slow

That's covered most of it

This is such a classic Fulham move. Never heard of him before, not a single link anywhere, and we've gone straight past the flirtation stage and sealed the deal.

An interesting point raised there in my opinion - I think Marco is certainly a coach who likes to evolve his style of play (we set up differently when we were first promoted and he didn't replace Mitro with a similar forward last year).

An extra centre back could perhaps covers part of Palhinha's impact now he has departed and there are very few players in the current game who could do that role as well as him. It also would allow the full backs to get forward, which Castagne and Robinson are good at (interestingly Sess has been listed as a defender but we know he doesn't really suit a back 4 LB role). Would potentially allow both ESR and Pereira to play more centrally behind the striker (assuming we lose an attacking midfielder to accommodate both Andre and McTominay if these are indeed our top targets).

For what it's worth he plays LCB and LB so kind of another Bassey and means we've got 5 players who can play LB now in Robbo, Castagne, Bassey, Sess and Cuenca

He very rarely played at RCB last year from what I can see - bar a couple of appearances it was almost entirely LB, LCB or occasionally as one of a 3. You can track here - https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jorge-cuenca/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/494880/plus/0?saison=2023&verein=&liga=&wettbewerb=&pos=&trainer_id=

And absolutely I can see him leaving Villereal (where he was a bit in and out of the team playing mostly at LB at the end of the season), to compete with Bassey. The main reason is that he will likely double his wages.

£6.7 or £6-7m.. or is that euros?

bencher

I know we don't sign squad fillers, but a LCB/LB for £6m certainly sounds like one.

It'd be 6.7m euros. They use the comma instead of the decimal point in Europe.

Ream replacement by all accounts - plays the same positions as Ream does and I believe Ream hasn't travelled to Portugal either going by Twitter

Its almost like we shouldn't spend too much time stressing and just relax and see how it plays out🤣 yet again, just like sess, a move out the blue showing were looking at all sorts of options potentially beyond whats in the press

Looking younger and more promising with each move. All players under 25 with plenty of potential for the coming years building for the future.

Loving it. Still a few more to go but seemingly 3 n the door by the time we play Benfica in our first public friendly with Andre heating up with him out of Fluminese squad
