This transfer window is like a bloody rollercoaster, I'm up one minute, expecting the announcement of an immediate incoming, or two, and down the next when absolutely nothing happens. Come on Fulham can we have just one tomorrow to keep us all going for now?!

Any issues would 100% be all over the internet by now, it's just us taking our time announcing it. The fact he's had a camera man walking round filming him going into the team hotel etc. in Portugal means they're filming one of those Ful access vids about it

I was at the Man U / Real Betis match in San Diego tonight. He started and played 60 minutes. You may be right about this.

I watched that game on tv.  I was surprised to see how forward McT plays.  He might as well be listed as a forward.  Always up in danger zone when United had ball in final third.  Offered LITTLE to NO defense at all.  Maybe United felt they could move their mids up forward and weren't concerned about Betis ability on the counter.  IDK.  But from what I saw, no defense, a lot of offense on McT's game.

Just an observation....not saying his style of play was good or bad

He played mostly last season as a box to box player as well as further forward with little defensive responsibility. Personally i see him as the box to box next to a holding midfielder

Quote from: General on August 01, 2024, 04:17:16 PMOn another note, Andre isn't with the Fluminense squad for the 2nd? game in a row and for the Copa do Brasil.. He must be somewhere on his way. Something has moved. A treble signing anouncement?

https://twitter.com/madaffc/status/1819011119307952170

I think it's the same game mate unfortunately. It is a cup game so some have suggested he is being rested. Next league game looks like it is Sunday so that would be interesting if left out then.

Made me wonder where Fluminese were up to with the reported Andre replacement. Just googled and actually looks from a few web sites that he arrived at Fluminese yesterday and is having his medical today. All reports seem to suggest that they need the money in from Andre and that they wouldn't have bought this guy if he is staying. Assuming he passes the medical today I wonder if this will trigger movement. If we don't hear anything next few days be very interesting to see if André starts Sunday for them.

Haha - this wouldn't be jinxing it - this is all controllable and by the club - they're just be slow AF and it's very tedious. ESR has almost definitely already signed, and most likely done so yesterday. This is just the club taking the piss. there's nothing to jinx.

No adjustment required, no fitness issues, just a well-rounded, does-what-says-on-the-tin, PL quality player.

I just hope we sign him in addition to Andre and not as an alternative.

Once again though, we get into August and haven't actually signed anyone except Sess on a free. Need a few announcements ASAP.

Welcome aboard the ol' McTominay ship

Ive wrote this before but I dont see much, if any, similarities between André and McTominay, beside that they both reside in the more "defensive part" of the midfield, so id be very surprised if Marco and the club saw them as rivals for one to be signed and not to partner them next to each other. So I think we are deffo going for both. André, McT, Reed and Lukic is great depth and quality. Throw in TC who can shuffle around playing both 10 (not great but still) and deeper as well.

Iif any thing, I think - heavily empashis on think - that André resembles Fred more than McTominay resembles André in terms of playing style

I would deem it more likely that Phillips was our go-to would the André deal fail, which I find very unlikely, and that Souza was our back up to McT

From one of my United mates:

He's not someone that's gonna spray the ball around. Basically you've got to give him licence to make runs into the box. He's got an engine on him so he can get about. If you play him as an 8 then he empties the midfield when you're attacking. If you play him as a 10 he's got more licence to get in the box but you lose the creativity of a traditional 10.

———-

Clearly he'll play as an 8 if AP is still about. The engine defensively could really help Andre out. Andre is the ball player so McT s weakness passing would be less of an issue. In terms of emptying midfield when he gets in the box AP would have to cover but that should work as AP never gets in the frigging box to score which is why we need someone like McT in the first place and AP is of course very good defensively and has played 8 so can drop when needed. I think that 3 could compliment each other incredibly well.

Well said. It's been a while since we've had a midfielder who excels at runs into the box.

Fulham make new bid for Man United's Scott McTominay - source

Fulham have made a fresh bid for Scott McTominay, a source has told ESPN, but the Manchester United midfielder remains undecided on his future.

McTominay is wanted by Fulham, who have offered £20 million ($25.5m), as well as Everton, Galatasaray and Fenerbahce.

Galatasaray were quoted a fee of more than £30m ($38.3m) for the Scottish international earlier this summer.

A source has told ESPN that McTominay has been told he has a place in Erik ten Hag's squad next season but the 27-year-old faces a decision about whether to leave Old Trafford for more regular first-team football.

He scored 10 goals last season, but was often used as an impact substitute by Ten Hag. United need to raise money through departures to fund further summer transfer business.

Leny Yoro and Joshua Zirkzee have arrived from Lille and Bologna respectively, but United are still keen to add another centre-back, a full-back and a central midfielder.

He needs to get on his bike and come to Fulham. It's obvious Manure want the money.
He needs to look at the upward spiral trajectories of our players under Marco.
Simple -you need to play every week to make that jump to the next level.

Wasn't Souza the closest player in terms of tackles to Palhinha last year? Always assumed he was a DM

To your wider point though I agree McT and Andre can (and hopefully will) play together as box to box and DM respectively. Hopefully they work better than McFred though who United fans seemed to hate  :slap:

Also TC was our top scorer in 2016-17 from the 10 position so he's not too shabby as backup there...

I agree.
They have their own media people in Portugal producing videos of the training sessions so why can't they make a short video or just a couple of photos of the guy in a shirt!
The club are very poor at this kind of thing and have been for such a long time.
