Angus . We all want more transfers ,and quicker ones with even better players and it should all happen in pre season.
The difference between yourself and others frustration is that you question the ability and competence of the people running our recruitment policy ,when it is clear that they do know what they are doing ,and have clearly got a record in recent seasons of providing the club with some really excellent players at very good value for the club.
No club gets it right all the time but we  have a side currently put together by Marco silva and the recruitment team . A lot of points that you make are reasonable so it's shame if people just scroll past your posts as you keep banging the same drum all the time .
We all want the same thing .We  clearly are nowhere near finished yet in buying players this window.

I think it's slightly harsh to single Angus out. The club have brought in some great players and done well in that regard over the last couple of seasons, but their transfer policy isn't exactly the best. Both things can be true.

It's great we've got in ESR and was great to have Palhinha at the club, and it's been great to see Marco shine, Bassey, Castagne, Leno, Willian etc all arrive and do well - though credit has to be given to Marco a lot too for this.. there are differences between transfers succeeding and failing normally based on managers (Willian failed at Arsenal, Leno was a sub goalie.. Pereira hardly played at Utd.. Paintsil was in west ham's reserves etc, Murphy was out of favour..

But the club is often very slow to do important business and I think it's fair to expect them to try and do it earlier in the window. I appreciate it's not always that easy, so have calmed a bit, but it does leave a lot open to risk to leave it so late - players change minds, clubs change minds, other clubs come in... Transfers aren't an exact science..

It also took a long time for the new ownership and structures below them to find their footing and be stable - long gone are the years of three managers in a season (happening twice), Felix Magath, nearly getting caught up in a relegation battle in the Championship and having disastrous seasons in the PL after getting promoted, either via the playoff or as champions because the management (Parker), or squads weren't quite right..

Progress has been made by the club and transfer team, which is lovely to see and reassuring, but there's more that can be done and it's not unreasonable to want to expect or encourage the club to take that next step to get the same quality of players in but earlier in the transfer window so they can bed in quicker and we can have a whole squad and know what our squad is for the whole season.

Perhaps we can't, our budget is too tight, and we're too small of a club to do that, maybe we need to go very slowly like this because we're having to rely on getting bargains and then selling them on for a major profit as our main way to grow, and simply put, that takes years and being slow but methodical..

I can get behind that and understand it as a strategy and it seems reasonable to me, but I do still think it's taken the club under the Khan's a long time to learn lessons that can seem pretty self evident. We were out of the PL in any meaningful way and a yoyo club for around 10yrs don't forget.

I look forward to the day when the club is more aggressive and decisive with it's transfer policy - almost every other club manages to be, so by comparison, there's no real reason we shouldn't be able to.

Time will tell if it's finely tuned and everything is meticulously deliberate to the point it's 'all for a reason'... but I can't help but think, even if it was, it could have been done quicker.

I think that's a fair assessment too and one many fans would share.

Solanke going to Spurs so wonder if Marco might try and get Richarlison to link up with him again?

I have been thinking the same thing, spuds want 50to 60million apparently, and wonder if they would take a loan.

How much is he supposedly going to spurs for?

Worried Bournemouth with their newfound riches would go after targets we're looking at..

Says we had a 15m euro rejected and villa had an 18m bid rejected

Refresher video of his reel from last season

Tenacious young striker, looks powerful but dynamic and skillful on the ball too. Interesting to see us still linked to strikers though. Suggests were keeping options own outside of Stansfield, might be a see what we can get by the end of the window thing and if its worth making some "pure profit" on Jay whilst replacing with other exciting talent

£65m but Liverpool get 20% - why would Bournemouth start looking at central midfielders when they'd need forwards? They've also spent a lot more than we have over the past few seasons so this probably covers a large chunk of their spend

Tbh, they needed a big sale - They've spent a lot due to loans being made permanent.

Sinisterra €23m
Unal (Solanke replacement now used to PL football) €16m
Huijsen - €15.2m
Paulsen - €2.27m

Their only other exit for cash will be Kieffer Moore going Sheff U
Matchday Programme Columnist during 15/16 season.

Fake Yagiz account

that ones just a rehash of various other Turkish sources that are all over twitter today as mentioned above. Whilst that ones tenuous and a fake account some of the others are bigger established channels it seems.

Between Bilal Toure and Semih it may be we're considering additional firepower up top and seeing wether any deals are worth swapping out Jay for late on. One to watch I guess.

Apparently we are tentatively enquiring into el bilal toure

If any truth then perhaps exploring attacking options should we decide to strike a deal for stansfield maybe.

No mentions of any fees yet. Wonder what that'll end up costing but clearly a good CB and lot of smoke now. Would be happy with him at CB and having lost Ream perhaps a more steady slightly older head might be worth having back there to help Bassey and Diop.

I Like Chalobah but the prices quoted were pretty wild, I'd say Deigo is probably the better of the 2 currently, Trevoh of course much younger and could turn out a great CB long term but I like the idea of the experienced Diego alongside Bassey.

Fair enough, cant say I follow him closely, although it's not the only striker rumour on the table and we were reportedly looking at him earlier in the window as mentioned by other sources like L'Equipe https://www.lequipe.fr/Football/Actualites/Transferts-el-bilal-toure-atalanta-vers-fulham/1476291

Not necessarily saying it's not true, just that that account is not reliable.

I'm assuming we said "since we got Gerrard sacked and you're now in the CL because of a chain of events we set off, can we have him for about a fiver" and we're working our way up from there :slap:

Seen reported somewhere that it would be €25-30m
