Wow, there's a huge amount of over the top untruths in that statement IMO. I could probably name you 20 clubs in 2 minutes that are worse.

And the worst in our history?!? Wow.

No mentions of any fees yet. Wonder what that'll end up costing but clearly a good CB and lot of smoke now. Would be happy with him at CB and having lost Ream perhaps a more steady slightly older head might be worth having back there to help Bassey and Diop.

I Like Chalobah but the prices quoted were pretty wild, I'd say Deigo is probably the better of the 2 currently, Trevoh of course much younger and could turn out a great CB long term but I like the idea of the experienced Diego alongside Bassey.

Seen reported somewhere that it would be €25-30m

hahahah no you didn't

I could name 20 people who are shorter than Ronnie Cornett, it doesn't make him tall Jim.

I think Diego Carlos would be a good signing. I think we'll pay around £5m to £10m for him, to be honest I would be surprised if it's as high as £10m. He comes with good experience having won the Europa League Cup and Olympic Gold.

I'm not sure he's better than Diop though, but to be fair I didn't think Tosin was much better than Diop, I think they were on par. It would be good competition for places at a decent price which will allow us to pursue other more expensive targets.

Seems very present and happy in alot of our posting and interviews currently, and his recent interviews since back from brazil dont seem to point to a player on the imminent way out, well see.

Would be flabbergasted if he was available for 5m having signed there 2 years ago for  over 25m. I suppose if there were major add ons but 10m range would still be happy personally. Very Good competition for Diop indeed

Don't be fooled by PR, we said the exact same thing before Mitro left for Saudi money

@jolslover

A question, if we sold Pereira for 25m and got Carvalho in for 25m - would people be happy with that?

I think right now Pereira is better but Carvalho has more potential and is obviously 7 years younger

I would take that in a heartbeat

I think Carvalho would cost closer to £20m since the 20% sell on fee should be leveraged to reduce the fee, but yes I would since Fab has more of a goal threat, longevity and a higher ceiling for potential. Would also mean we could defintely afford to buy the two CM's Silva wants as well so bonuses all round

I actually would sell him, as at the age & contract status anything above £20mil for me is a good price.

The more I think about it, I think Iwobi was the succession plan for Willian leaving, similar to how Bassey was Ream's successor. ESR could well be the preemptive Pereira replacement & a younger winger will come in later in the window to fill the gap left in the squad.

I'm not convinced if Pereira is sold that we'll sign an AM, especially going in big for Carvalho. King has been handed #24, I don't think he'd be given a good 1st team squad number if he wasn't going to be getting minutes this season.

Allegedly rejected €25m for Periera from Marseille

not worth selling for anything under £25m  (ideally more) really at this point, we're in no pressure to move him on

Sell at £25+, buy fab back and use the leftovers to secure CM's we want and we're cooking.

Am I the only one who's not that convinced Fabio is the right man for the job? I'm not convinced he's got what it takes in the PL yet. Don't get me wrong, I'm a fan and would love him back, but I don't think he's a direct and ready made replacement who jumps into the starting 11.

I'd keep Andreas for another season, I think there's more to come from him. I think we need a LW more than a AM which is where pereira has been playing and where we now have Iwobi and ESR to fit in for him.

I think Carvalho atm is a luxury we don't need and should prioritise spending our budget on the CM, DM, RCB and LW.

No chance we're paying that. I would have thought we'd be willing to spend up to around 15mil at the very max.

Agree. Even at that figure plus salary it would make him far and away the most expensive player on the books.

If Villa sell him for much less than 15 million they would likely incur a loss.

I have a hard time seeing his transfer to Fulham financially which is probably why Saudi keeps getting mentioned.

He's earning around £100k at Villa so aligned with our top earners (and would also be aligned roughly to what we're paying ESR)

Its his amortization + salary. He'd be 10 million + on the books. For a 31 yr old that is alot.

ESR and Iwobi are probably the only comparable two and they are much younger, hold less risk, and have sell on potential.

I think he'd be a useful addition, I'm just having a hard time seeing how the finances work for all 3 parties.

Porthogs FC

I agree that selling Pereira doesn't mean we'd replace him. 2 per position, need a 6 and CB right now. Could consider an Andreas sale as Cairney shifting to 10 an us looking for an 8. One more Winger would be nice, just not necessary.

I always get confused on these sell on clauses. I used to understand it to mean 20% of the profit form any future sale, So if we sold someone for 5 million and he was then sold for 25 million we get 20% of the 20 million. The I understood it do be 20\5 of any future fee (self explanatory) but today after a goodie search it seems to indicate the genera rule is of the profit.

SO i guess it could be either and depends whats agreed at the time between the clubs or any tribunal ruling if thats how it has gone.

So do we know for sure which one it is re Fabio, if we are at all interested or try to bring him back

I dont think we did,we seemed to avoid the topic alot in depth , and Remember the video of Mitro running alone in the background of a full access video? He wasn't really featuring in drills etc. For a long time.

He certainly wasnt featuring in tons of photos, interviews and posts all happy.

Not saying that defines anything too much and things can changed, but mitro situation was very different to this, he certainly wasnt participating in "hot seat" interviews etc.

No, think the gulf in quality between them is too big, and it would be too much to overhaul another key position this summer when we're already replacing 3-5 starters
I read somewhere before the summer Internationals that Pereira is reported to have said that he had promised MS to stay with us for two years and that having done that he was now reviewing his future with his representatives.

If that is the case, and I have seen it repeated again recently, he will need replacing anyway.
I would be surprised if MS and the Club were not planning for this.
It could be better, but it's not a fantasy:

At the end of the season, he gave an interview and said Fulham was his home and he loves it here, yadda, yadda. He was, at that stage, the most beloved player in the team so I'm not buying anything any player says at this point.
