Quote from: Angus Telford on August 09, 2024, 05:43:38 PMGaleno is linked with Juve, Roma and even Forest. We never go into that sort of auction situation. Don't think there's any truth in that one.

Kilicsoy or Richarlison would be great but not how plausible they are either.

Costa I will only believe if the fee is £10m or less.

Feels like we're going to do the rest of our business in the last days/hours of the window.

Doesn't look like it even got going in the end:

Quote from: SerbianLad on August 09, 2024, 05:51:19 PM50 million should be an absolute minimum for AP imo, considering his age, profile, him being a Brazilian international, etc. Even then, I'd still probably keep him. We already sold Mitro and Palhinha for very high fees, surely we don't really need money now?

Sorry but he's never worth anywhere near £50m, considering he's an attacking midfielder who doesn't score or get that many assists from open play. If he played for another mid table PL team, would you really want us paying £50m for him?
No, but you can't look at it that way,in my opinion. Because I wouldn't pay 50 million for Mitro or Palhinha either, but that doesn't mean he isn't worth 50 million.

Quote from: Jules on August 09, 2024, 04:45:24 PMPereira is a full Brazil international. He is worth at least £30m. Though, we need to try and keep him. His pressing and assists would be hard to replace.

His assists aren't that high if you consider that he takes most corners and free kicks. Antonee Robinson who gets abuse all the time for not being able to cross only had one assist fewer than Pereira.

Pressing would be the thing we would miss the most.
Completely agree. Yet again, people on here seem to exaggerate the value of our players. Pereira need to get more points. His pressing skills are great for us but in a negotiation situation it doesnt score as high as assist and goals when you are the Nr 10 in a PL side

And I personally think he'd jump at the chance to join a Saudi side or even a side like Marseille.

Well you sort of have to, because if someone offers sensible money for a limited attacking midfielder you can't arbitrarily price him out of that move. We turn down £30m and then next summer we're looking at someone who isn't going to command a fee of £20m based on his G/A to date and will turn 30 in Jan 2026, and eventually leaves for peanuts and we're left trying to replace him with no transfer fee. Nobody will offer us close to £50m because when you look at it rationally, he's got limited output for an attcking midfielder. Palhinha was worth £50m because he was a one man army tackling machine and proved it over several seasons, Pereira's best assets are his engine and dead ball specialism, both of which are replaceable (and the ground he covers will start to decline as he hits his 30's as well)

I disagree with you, but respect that you and some other fans might feel different. I think Andreas' contributions are heavily underrated and if you take somw other stuff I've mentioned into account, I believe he's worth 50 million to us. His price might drop later, but why do we even have to sell him? Regardless if it's this season or the next one or the one after that, etc. I wouldn't have a problem if he stayed with us for the rest of his career if he wants to.

Trusty Steed

I'm always checking this thread for transfer news, but good share seems to be petty arguments!  :slap:

Caedal

Is there any chance the mods could delete all the childish arguments from this thread so it can just be about transfer rumours please.

I know this happens every year... but it seems especially bad this year

Well, that would make for easier reading.

Can anyone explain why Chelsea have just signed their 8th keeper?

We are twiddling our thumbs while teams are starting to strengthen. We need five players lively
RCB
DCM
CM
LW
CF
Pull your finger out recruitment team .
Lukic and Cairney as a central midfielder pairing is criminal we are going to get steamrolled. They are to slow don't read danger very well and are not physical enough . Shambles we have had a year to get a replacement good to go and we are scratching our balls.

Why do we need a starting LW and striker when we have several players who can more than adequately cover both positions? Also we beat United at OT with Lukic and Reed, but as a Brentford supporter you probably don't remember that

Milo

Let's try to keep on topic, everyone. No need for fighting.

Twig

Absolutely, any chance we could focus principally on transfers and related rumours? These silly arguments are tedious.

Apparently the bid for Diego Carlos was £8m + £4m in add ons and Villa want £15m for him

rusty shackleford

I havent seen 1 villa fan who isnt delighted we are potentially taking him

Yeah a bit concerning. All say he's useless in the air and stats back that up. Pretty poor defensive stats all round. Looks a decent passer. Sounds like he had the odd stormer but generally not great. At £8m + £4m in add ons maybe worth a punt but £100k a week wages with fee on top a huge concern at his age. They want £15m plus add ons and just seems like way too much with the salary on top. Is weird as he did play loads for a champions league qualifying club.

Surely Chelsea drop Chalobah near the end of the window. Chelsea fans gutted to lose him vs Villa fans waiting to drive Carlos to us and obviously plenty of years ahead of him. None of the options look great in any way really for various reasons. Crazy how hard it seems to be to find a decent RCB.

DM

Silva wants an experienced CB. Diego Carlos fits that profile. Had lots of Experience in both Premier League & Europe.
Also a lower fee frees up funds for other targets.
