Hopefully this is the week that we hear from Marco on transfers. I don't think he's really spoken to anyone outside of club media during the whole pre season tour.

Usually he doesn't shy away from publicly speaking about what positions he wants covered. Would be nice to get some clarity on if we're looking at 1 or 2 players to replace Palhinha, also on what the plans are for Stansfield. Seems to have performed well during Behind closed doors friendlies but never got on the pitch for any of the 3 attended games.

Woolly Mammoth

Is there any substance in this recent development that Fulham have tabled a 20 million pound bid for Joaquin Anderson.
If it is true, i would have thought Crystal Palace would ask for at least £30 million.
Mind you he is a very good physical centre back.
Its not the man in the fight, it's the fight in the man.  🐘

Never forget your Roots.

He is a good experienced player, but will be expensive. Can't see Palace letting both CBs go this summer.

I just read of our interest on the Monday news message. I'd always hoped we'd try and get him back. He was a rock that season he was on loan and at 28 and a similar price, imho a better option than Costas from Villa

Rather spend the money on Chalobah younger and English

with Anderson being chased as well as Carlos, makes me wonder if Basseys moves to DM.im probably miles off but makes me wonder as if the 2 of them come in we will have 5 CHs. ::scarf::

Seen this mentioned a few times. Has he actually ever played there? And has he had anytime playing there in friendlies that I'm not aware of?

FFC apparently whilst at rangers he played in the position. Also Marco said he wants 2 CBs with Carlos and Anderson that will be 3 if it happens.

Quote from: howitis on August 11, 2024, 02:35:34 PMHope you right, just don't believe he quite has the physicality for top flight football. To be honest I think we will regret not competing with Brentford for Carvalho. Stil believe he can go to the very top ..

Carvalho an odd one to choose when saying wilson doesn't have the physicality.
I think wilson is a very decent player, deserves more time on thr pitch imo.

Carvalho has far better stamina and strength on the ball than Wilson. Wilson can't and doesn't do any effective off the ball / tracking back work. Carvalho much like pereira

Transfermarkt doesn't think so. It says that throughout his career he has:

- 112 appearances at centre back,

- 96 appearances at left back, and

- three appearances at left midfield.

Let us all bless the onset of the third century of this SS transfer thread; may it bring with it high quality and good value incomings, clearing out of any deadwood, raucous debates, and 3 points on Friday night. Amen.

Noussair Mazraoui signs at right back for Man Utd

Him an De Ligt to have medicals - need to be signed bu Thursday midday to be eligible for our game, Noussair already in Manchester, De light presumably on route shortly so both likely in the squad for Friday.

Bronaldinho

Here's one doing the rounds - latest on Stansfield.

Pictured with the moving company (wemovesutton) - no indication if he's moving into the area or back to London, or if the picture was recent.

But certainly a player that is hotly rumoured elsewhere.

IMHO - I'd love for us to keep him, really bright future, clinical finisher and has looked class in pre-season with a point to prove.

Meanwhile in news to no one, Sky saying our biggest priority of the window is a new CB. Hardly newsworthy when we know we have bids in for Joachim Anderson and Diego Carlos. from there I guess it'll be DM and see what else is on the table come the end of the window.

Holders

That's a Sutton Coldfield removal company (not Sutton, Surrey) so he's moving from where he lived in Brum.

Or he's hired a local company to Birmingham because he's moving up there? Would be surprised if he moved house fully for the sake of a year loan so is an interesting one. Will be interesting to see how the Stansfield stuff plays out this year either way, if he moves on - its because we're presumably lining up another player. If not, look forward to him trying to get minutes this year and hopefully taking his chances.

Exactly. We only have 3 senior centrebacks, of course a cb is our priority.

Fabio is hardly Steed on the ball- it was a big criticism of him that he gets bullied off the ball. Wilson similar, as they're physically slight players. Think you're doing Wilson a bit of a disservice BTW- he's provided more assists per minute, more goals per minute than Fabio across either the Championship or Prem (inc playing for some average sides).

Who knows, hopefully he's staying! I think there's a huge opportunity for him to get PL minutes this year, as we are unlikely to buy another forward unless he departs.

Fabs move to Brentford is a really weird one - apparently unhappy at Liverpool as he wasn't being played as a 10 and they saw him as a left winger.

Now moving to Brentford where don't play with an out and out ten either.

All bit weird.
