Quote from: SerbianLad on August 12, 2024, 06:00:22 PMWhile of course incoming transfers are more important, I do hope we sell Mbabu and Vini soon too. Nothing against either one of the two, both seem like really good people and Vini even had some great moments, but unfortunately it hasn't worked out for either. It would be best for all parties if they left as soon as possible.

Agreed. It never feels right when players are essentially exiled from the team while waiting for a transfer. Only time it feels ok is when the player is a malcontent like a Lukaku.

WHO?

Doubt theres much to this one

Young 20 year old attacking midfielder from korea who plays at stoke. Mostly CAM and LW.
Agree that this a stretch, although i'm wondering whether, if there's any truth in the rumour, it could be related to Jay's possible departure.

Quote from: Kingjay81 on August 12, 2024, 05:13:16 PMNot saying I'm right but I just feel confident that our front 4 will include both Smith Rowe off the left and Perreira in the 10.

Where to play AP is Marco's hardest decision right now. AP at the 10 has been a constant and we've had success with it, but ESR has looked very dangerous there. If I had to guess I'd say he plays AP/Reed/Lukic (with ESR on the wing) against top six level opposition, and ESR/AP/Lukic against lesser clubs. But man do we need another 6 🙏

Deuce

Im not feeling anything re Carvalho.

He was doing great for us and was well on his way becoming a regular for a PL side but as soon as Liverpool dangled the cash in front of him, he left.

He wasted a few important years of his career when he absolutely didnt have to.

Im sorry I cant feel anything towards him.

Nothing to do with us the ex Liverpool player

Same. Maybe we were in for him. Maybe not. If he'd come back I'd be happy. He didn't so I don't care.

£4.5m for us on that transfer...

Still some dregs to clear out from the first team... Mbabu and Vinicius so that should be some extra dosh in the kitty.

Some apparent Stoke ITK said on one of their forums several weeks ago we had interest in him and that they were pushing for Stansfield so might have legs to it

Bae Jun-Ho is a very good player. I have no idea if he is able to step up or is  on a level with Jay. But I doubt this will go anywhere. But at least it is interesting.
The above IS NOT A LEGAL DOCUMENT. It is an opinion.

We may yet hear the horse talk.

I can stand my own despair but not others hope

Craven Mad

Can someone correct me if I'm wrong, but because Liverpool added another sell-on clause in the sale to Brentford, we get:

- around £5m from the original transfer to Liverpool,

- around another £5m now from the transfer to Brentford AND

- 20% of 17.5% profit if/when Brentford sell Carvalho in the future, right?

If so, not a totally terrible outcome for us in the end...

As for Brentford, I think they've overpaid but they may have a good player or they may have a stinker... Carvalho worked well in a Marco Silva system and has worked less well under other managers' systems... Thomas Frank doesn't seem to play a system that'd be ideal for Fab (because he doesn't use a CAM) but there's no doubt that he was amazing in that one season for us.

Personally, for us now, I'd rather Iwobi at LW and ESR at CAM, so I don't think we could offer Fabio the starting slot he needs at this stage of his career.

Andre Trindade has deleted his instagram in the latest weird turn of events.

Personally I think we blew that one. Under Marco he would be a huge success

Don't think were in the market for a CAM really though, good as he is

We have at least 4 players already who can play that position at a high level.

Where would he play though? He's not better than Andreas, ESR or Iwobi, not at the moment at least, so he wouldn't really play in his favourite position. Is he better than Traore and Wilson? I don't think so, so he can't play on the wing either, as Traore, Wilson, Iwobi and ESR can all play there. He has a potential to be a great player for sure, but the positions in which he can play are the positions in which we have more depth than any other position on the pitch, and at the moment he's not better than players we have in those positions.

he has a couple of things going for him - age and he can score goals. The fee was higher than I thought it would be. If we could have got him for 20 million then it might have been worth selling AP for 40 million. A nice profit. Anyway, all water under the bridge now. We move on

But as you say, the fee was over 20 million. Also what he might add in scoring goals, is negated by the fact that he'd offer less in defence, and now that we have lost Palhinha, I think we need someone like Pereira in the AM role.

I always liked Carvalho, and by now he would have been, perhaps, one of our leaders now had he not left us and joined Liverpool. But I don't think we made a mistake here.

Been picking up a lot of loose transfer pocket change over the last week. Bowie, Bowat, sell on for Fabio, Vini possibly out.

There could be an additional 15 to 20 million or more in available transfer funds to the budget from those deals.

Highlights how well the transfer business has been going the past 3 seasons to have so much sell on value coming through the club.

This of course assumes theres 40m on the table anywhere for Andreas and there just isnt.

The most weve received is allegedly £21m from Marseille. No ones paying £40 for him. Even we reportedly value him at a price tag of minimum 25m by some recent reports.

I like Fabio as a player but at 20m and given the strength we have there currently I don't think it was gonna happen. ESR is our first choice CAM and fabio wants first team football.

Meanwhile more rumours of a loan for Phillips

Not my first choice but... I accept that there was once a very talented player in there to be signed by city in the first place, he really was all the rage at the time. We are a club notorious for restoring careers so I would get behind it if it happened...Marco is absolutely the right type of manager to get the best from him. I get the sense he isnt target number 1 for us but is one were keeping ticking in the background in case we decide to pull the trigger
