Thinking of songs about performers' late mothers - seems suitable for this time of year, when we often fondly remember those who have passed, as well as celebrating the present.

The great Eric Bogle, Scot, who emigrated to Australia, who wrote famous anti-war songs 'Green Fields of France' and 'Gallipoli'.

Recommend his  autobiography, Memories of a Geezer - a great read.

Not quite the same as it's not about a mother but I listened last night to Louis Dunford song "Ballad for Benjamin" the 16 year old who was stabbed to death and died in the arms of Louis, very moving, unfortunately I cannot download a link,  yet have a listen if you can.
