In some ways he could be exactly what they need. On the other hand adding Cunha and Mitrovic to a toxic dressing room feels like it could add fuel to the fire. If Mitrovic is on the market then big clubs should be looking at him, but for some reason he seems to get overlooked.

Yeah don't doubt the prob want him out osimhen in but bet he won't go unless they pay him out and he has his nice £25m tax free in his account to add to the shiny £50m already there. Wouldn't be surprised however if they did just pay the £25m out to him to get rid. As I say doubt anyone is paying £40m...perhaps £20m to £25m. He's reputedly earned £21m per season tax free, so you'd think that money may now be less of an issue for him.

Dunno...perhaps not but he clearly didn't care about his career before and was all about money so seems incredibly important to him. I heard £25m a year. Question is why would he give it up? May as well just wait a year and go on a free next year back to the prem. Can get a better salary doing that as no fee for the new club in a year to pay.

I don't know this 100% but when Henderson left Saudi, early from his 2 year contract, it was said that in Saudi, you get the option to defer wages for 2 years, but you aren't entitled to the wages if you leave early. Deferring them meant you got the full lump tax free at the end of that period but Henderson came away empty handed. So not even getting tax on his wages to that point. I honestly couldn't say if thats true or not or if it was merely positive PR Hendo spin.

Interesting then it might not be out of question for him to come back to the UK. He's definitely resident in the UK, he's spent about nine years consecutively here.

To all the people turning their nose up at the prospect of Mitro returning, ask yourselves this, how would you feel about him signing for Everton, Leeds or West Ham instead?
My opinion is if its possible and he indicates that he would be interested then we should move heaven and earth to get him,
BUT ! no significant signings will be made until Silva makes up his mind what he's going to do.

Wouldn't bother me, we've had the best of Mitro IMO.

I'd happily take him back next year on a free as third striker (after signing a prospect this year) to replace Raul who would be another year older. As much as I'd despise him lining up against us I wouldn't be paying north £10m for him at his age now. If United or someone wants to it would suck but so be it as we can't afford that on our budget. As I said earlier however I just can't see him giving up his £25m tax free anyway so hopefully all academic.

Don't really see too many positives in bringing Mitro back to be honest at the quoted fee. £40m for a 30 year old who will turn 31 in September and will want a huge salary will take up a large chunk of our summer budget and leave nothing substantial for more key positions in wingers and CM's when we've got a long term #9 in Muniz. Sure Mitro might score circa 15 goals this season, but there is no resale value in there, and he's spent two years playing a low standard of football in Saudi so there's no guarantee he'll even come back and perform at the same level. That's not to mention the fact that he downed tools in pre-season to agitate for the move, something Silva himself confirmed, so it doesn't set a great example of re-signing someone that left us in an awkward spot a few years ago. I'm all for nostalgia but it would hamstring us no end bringing him back when we have key positions to fill and finally find ourselves in a position where we can take a punt on an unknown 19 year old Belgian centre forward who might turn out to be the next big thing, rather than an ageing Mitro

That wasn't the main reason why he performed at a lower level. Our whole team was terrible in pretty much every game, because our coach is an idiot. We scored 1 goal in those 3 games. He was still probably our most dangerous player. After the Euros, he bailed us out in multiple games and got MOTM performances, including the one in a 2-0 win over Switzerland where he scored a superb goal.

I wouldn't get him back mostly due to his price tag and the fact that we don't really need another striker, unless it's a young talent or someone who can play on the wing as well as a striker. If we didn't renew Raul's contract it would have made more sense, this way it makes no sense whatsoever,in my opinion. Especially at the price that's quoted.

I couldn't care less who signs Mitro as long as it isn't us. The last thing we need is an unfit, ageing mercenary from a pub league.
Muniz may or may not be the future but I honestly believe we have to back him as our number one next season and I really think Mitro as a number two or three squad player is a poor option.
