Would be gutted to lose Tete. My favourite Fulham RB ever.

But he will of course move on eventually, and the coventry lad seems worth a shot if Kenny doesn't accept our offer or wants a move elsewhere.

We have the liberty in this position of taking a risk on someone like Van Ewijk, given Castagne is a great option capable of starting already. Don't forget when he wasn't struggling with an injury he once kept Tete justifiably out of the team for a long time. His recent form has been tempered by that injury and he's not as good a defender as Kenny (though I'm not convinced there's many better defensive RBs in the prem to be honest) but his all round game is plenty good enough to try our luck with the second option.

I personally disagree with that assessment of Castagne. He may have been carrying an injury which gives him an excuse (a fair excuse I wouldn't like to unfair) but even when fully fit I don't see him as a 'great option' neither do I see him as having 'justifiably kept tete out the team'. So I guess I disagree with you and Marco on that but that's just my opinion.

I see Castagne as a distinctly average premier league player whose main asset is his utility to step in when required across the back line. He excels neither in attack or defence. I would suggest we overpaid for his services at £15m

Fair enough we'd have to agree to disagree here then. But we're talking about a guy with 54 caps for a good belgian team who's even captained them before. I don't remotely think we overpaid, seems fair value to me, it's just that Tete was unbelievably undervalued in comparison.

I think people are potentially forgetting how good we was in the 24/25 season. Tete got injured and Castagne was very good in his absence, to the point where everyone at the time was singing his praises, and seemingly the vast majority, including myself, were justifiably saying what a privilege it was to be spoilt for choice like we are at RB, and that It would have been incredibly harsh to drop him when Tete returned, and as you say, Marco agreed.

During that season, Tete wasn't at his best, dealing with his injury issues... Fortunately, he got back to himself last season. Tim meanwhile has been at worst, dependable, and has been playing on an injury it seems for a while that ultimately needed surgery. So whilst not his best form, he still did pretty well for us. He's for sure more of an "all rounder" where Tete is outright a defensive master but he's still a good premier league RB for me.

Robinson commented in a recent interview that it's deliberate that we overload attacks down the left by design, regardless of if it's Kenny or Tim at RB. So I think sometimes Castagne doesn't get the same chance to show off his attacking qualities as much. I actually think when we do allow him to get forward it's a pretty good part of his game. Not as fast as Robinson of course, but few are.

So yeh more important point here for me is - having Castagne means we can take a bit more of a risk on a RB, maybe younger - like Ewijk, because worst case Castagne is a more than capable prem RB and best case a new untested signing with high potential storms in and makes the position their own whilst having good competition for a full international.

Just saw an article about Nunez impending Liverpool departure.  With a price tag of 70M.  I happen to think he is a very good player, didn't get much play time at 'Pool, but where do they pull out these price tags?  No way near that value, half that much would still be an overpay.  I don't get it.

Four Premier League clubs interested in Dynamo forward – source


Forward of Dynamo and the Ukrainian national team Vladislav Vanat has attracted the attention of four clubs of the English Premier League.

This is reported by TaToTake.

According to the source, Everton, Fulham, as well as Leeds and Sunderland, who have made it to the elite from the Championship, are interested in the striker.

The main favorite in the fight for the player is Sunderland. It should be noted that the team has decided to put another Ukrainian striker Nazariy Rusin up for transfer.

It is expected that Vanat may leave Dynamo Kyiv after the end of the European Youth Championship, where the player plays for the Ukrainian national team.

The Kyivans are not against the transfer of their player, but plan to receive at least 20 million euros for him - this is the amount specified in the player's contract.

Recall that in the 2024/25 season, Vladislav played 45 matches in all tournaments, in which he scored 21 goals and gave 9 assists. The forward's contract with the "white-blues" is valid until June 2027.

Earlier, Vanat was recognized as the best player of the UPL season.

If Kenny doesn't extend his contract, rightback is top priority. We do need a third striker with Vini going(hopefully it's someone with potential, and not someone who expects to start every game, otherwise Raul's extension was pointless), Nelson's loan ended and Willian left too, so we need a winger and Lukic is pretty much the only player that can play as an 8, so out of all midfield positions, it makes most sense to get a player for that position. Benda looked a bit shaky, so a new goalkeeper makes sense too.

I personally can't see Wilson playing many games in the middle. We have ESR and AP there already, and then there's King who will hopefully play a bigger role next season.

Not sure we need to wingers either. Iwobi, Wilson, Adama, Sess and the new winger should be good enough, especially as ESR can play as a left winger too, if necessary.
