Surely we're nowhere near being in a position whereby we have to "gamble" on any player, be it DCL or anyone else,
We need to be buying players that are better than what we've already got, does DCL tick that box on the checklist?

No idea how true this is, but £20m is crazy low for someone with 15 prem goal contributions last season.

What would be your selling price for Iwobi? I would defo take 40m (given he's 29), but probably unrealistic.

To be honest, first half of last season Iwobi was brilliant. Definitely tailed second half though. He is a solid mid table prem level winger and I rate him but could we upgrade for 40m? Probably

I think we are. The same way we gambled on Sess, Traore, Willian and Raul

Are we under pressure to sign players early? If so why?

1)  To acquire players that the club and MS actually WANT and have been Targeted.

2)  To be able to get players into pre season training and bed in/gel within the team, and learn the systems and methods of play the coach desires.

Article in the Evening Standard tonight to seems to have a club line that we are relaxed about business and we are stronger than other clubs.

All I can say about this, (and some of the other commentary I've seen that the club is ok 'as is'), I just hope fans and the club itself does NOT subscribe to this.  It reminds me of something that has been said by some over past several months.  And that is:  Complacency will get you relegated.

A team like FFC must better itself every season if it wants to stay in this league.  Yes, we have some good players in this team at present, and several I really like.  But if it means some of the starting XI might have to take a bench/substitute role moving forward as new or better players are brought in, then so be it.  Snooze, you lose......

Pretty much agree. I also agree it's unrealistic. His real market value at 29 is probably £20-30m (if that) but IMO we already need 2-3 new players in the forward positions, so to give ourselves another replacement to buy and integrate this year would be a mistake. Hence our asking price for Iwobi should be very high IMO.

Apparently FFC active in pursuit of Reitz and Arokodare.  I very much like these two players, both very young guys, and I think could improve the club.  Hope FFC can make this happen.  I think McAtee is also out there, not sure what folks here in the forum think about him.  Lots of talk about DCL, hope FFC takes a pass.......

Would probably be his last shot at glory in one of the clubs just below the Barcelona, Real Madrids and Bayern Munichs of the world. They also have a pretty good track record with British players.

Didn't we pay 20m for him? If yes, I'd take close to 35m for him with 15 goal contributions. He's great but as someone had mentioned he goes missing for an entire month every season because of AFCON.
